Just played a stage and I must say I love it. I too had my reservations after PCM10, but it seems like the odd-numbered PCMs are winners.
Graphics are great, I could just imagine cows accidentally strolling onto the road (now where did i see that irl? ) and watching the riders go through a long roadbend just pleased me for some reason.
Gameplay feels solid, riders having to wait for gaps to advance through the peloton gives a very realistic feel, the effort bar flashing red is a nice add and final sprints seem realistic.
Sound was never much of a problem for me and the added tracks just give more variety.
Minor annoyances of mine:
Spectators are still the same as before and somehow seem to be off compared to the rest of the graphics.
Riders still go through the car unfortunately, but I'm used to that.
And finally achievements...I seriously dislike this trend in games. I cannot enjoy an achievement for being in a break for 20k, that's just stupid.
Looking through the achievement list however, the harder achievements do look more gratifying, so I'll just have to ignore the easy achievements and enjoy.
Overall: Very happy to have it and eagerly awaiting the PCM.daily pack.
P.S. Pardon my rant. |

Another great feature, it is now possible to start sprinting 3kms from the finish in all stages with flat endings quite nice because it lets best sprinters win whereas 1.5km wasn't enough.
Edit : actually it only worked for some races
Just one ennoying thing : it seems that Acceleration stat is more useful than Sprint stats in mass sprints
I've played about 5 flat ending stages and,
riders with (75 SP 72 ACC) end behind riders with (70 SP 76 ACC)
I guess both are important because I don't get Climbers wining (thank god) but Sp isn't as useful as it should be...

I don't have the game. But I have this information from a very unreliable source, Waghlon. And he tells me that Kenya and Zimbabwe has their own scouting zones, while the nr. 1 cycling country in Africa right now, maybe a shared 1st with Morroco, Eritrea doesn't. Seems like the game has been struck by cyalogic once again.

I have to say that I'm really positively surprised this far. I played the Zoncolan stage of this years Giro (with Crostis) with SaxoBank. The peloton was really spread long as the pace was fast in the beginning of the stage. First I was in the BotD with Porte and the relaying in breaks at least didn't seem to have any problems this far. I don't really know if it was a problem in 2010 version but 2009 it was at times really terrible.
Then I hit the front of the peloton on the Crostis with Contador being protected by Navarro as I wanted to blow the peloton apart. With Contador I kept him on the dot with effort between 60 and 70% the whole climb. It naturally enforced a selection of elite riders of 8 riders. What was interesting was that I could see riders like Nibali and Gesing struggling to get to the front group as they were a bit too far back when I increased the pace but they gradually made it there and it wasn't like they suddenly put themselves on 99% effort just to keep in the front group.
On the Zoncolan I followed for the first part of the climb and attacked with Contador about 4kms from the top and got a decent gap to Basso and others. I had however used too much energy on the Crostis and Basso catched me when about 1kms was left and he won the sprint to the finish. The positive thing was again that this acceleration totally blew the elite selection apart and riders came with about 30sec to 1min intervals alone.
My Crostis acceleration probably caused the fact that after the first 8 that survived that climb the 9th (Pinotti) already lost like 9 minutes.
All in all I have to say that the feeling I got from the game was much better than the one of 2010 and I'm almost ready to start a career when a decent db comes along.. And of course in addition to the gameplay improvements, I see the more realistic behavior of the sponsors and the fact that they can change as a great improvement and it in a way forces to keep the game more realistic I think. Hopefully we won't see anymore all the best riders gathering in 1 team (controlled by the player or AI) or the likes of Wiggins signing for Andalucia or some other teams.. |

My only complaint so far is that there are massive time gaps on mountain stages, the top ten are often separated by 5-10 minutes

Hey Spudde, great report!
Would be cool if more people posted similar reports from mountain stages, always fun to hear about new gameplay. |

I just experienced something I never have seen in PCM before. I was running Tour of Oman in the background while editing the stats of the original database and tuned in to watch the last 10 kilometers. What happens? Spilak and Offredo attack, Spilak gets caught with 3 km to go and Offredo barely keeps his lead to take the win in front of the sprinters. |

(nearly) all countries that are in STA_country got their own scouting zone.
Morocco and Eritrea were never in in the previous PCM as country, thus the lack of scouting zone also. They are simply not in sta_country
Qatar is, because of the Tour of Qatar, and therefore have their own zone.
It's not really cya logic therefore. And can be easily fixed with your own db. Just add morocco and eritrea as nations and add their zones. Easy |

Well it will always be that way or the other way
This way: great gameplay, loads of fun, but big timegaps
Other way: boring stages, boring gameplay, big groups in mountains, but realistic timegaps
With a 1/10 scale it will NEVER be perfect. Realise that. Choices...choices... |

Its a bit annoying that while some European countries have quite a few scouting zones, Britain has the same amount of scouting zones as Kenya

I've thought about it, and realsied that with the original db the stats are so weird that results are impossible to judge.
