nah, the rider ending last, is usually one of those dudes hammering +400 watts the first two hours of each etape. A clear indicator of substance abuse if you ask me
To survive a TdF without dope you need to stay out of the wind, and when gravity starts taking its toll, you need to find a rythm below treshold, if you're to survive the next many etapes! |

Same happened during World Cup 2010.
Everybody who bet on a Lampard goal against Germany got the money after the ref didn`t see the obvious goal
Nice move actually.

Actually, Rasmussen is kinda quoted as saying that the UCI should not ban Contador, because that specific amount he was tested positive for wasn't performance enhancing:
“You have to judge what is performance enhancing. What they found Contador positive for has no performance enhancing effect. Their system leaves no room for common sense.”
(Bolded bits are changed because I can't abide incorrect spellings/grammar by cyclingnews, even in direct quotes.)
To be personally honest, whenever Michael Rasmussen pops up, the tiny voice in my head space screams "DOPER. EVIL EVIL. DANISH. EVIL." So he's just made Contador even more guilty in my mind.

It might be true that the "amount found" is not performance enhancing, but that is not a proof that there never was more of that stuff in the body. It does not matter anyway because all cyclists must follow the momentary rules, no matter what their name, country, reputation or bank roll is. |

Belgian magazine Humo has published claims from an individual with the Astana team, who alleges that Alberto Contador used Clenbuterol after the Criterium du Dauphiné as part of a weight-loss treatment. The person, who spoke on condition of anonymity, claims that the Spaniard had blood extracted between that race and the Tour when, crucially, traces of the banned product were still in his system.
“He had a transfusion performance after the Dauphiné Libéré [Criterium du Dauphiné], and the blood still contained a little bit of clenbuterol from a just-finished slimming treatment,” Humo reported the insider as saying.

OH MY GOD YOU MEAN HE DID WHAT EVERY TOP GC RIDER DOES IM SHOCKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SHOCKED I TELL YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
EDIT: Sarcasm aside, there's also this tidbit:
They used to get two, three big bags of blood during the Tour, 400 or 500cc. Now they can't do that anymore, because of the biological passport, that looks at sudden changes in blood values.

To be honest, that article smells like bullshit.
It's funny, though, that they'll release the full article on October 12th. Symbolism FTW. |

WADA has stated that they don't believe Contador's story.
"It [the excuse] has been raised before, it's been heard in a couple of cases and rejected," WADA director general David Howman told reporters during a meeting at the anti-doping agency's headquarters. "It's not unusual.
"The issue is, can you prove it? It's a pretty hard thing to prove that is where it (the banned substance) comes from.
"The tribunal will make a decision and I'm comfortable with that." |

Then it will be up to the Spanish Cycling Federation to hand him a ban.
They'll find him not guilty, and he'll be scot free for a few more months until the UCI gets CAS involved.

it's also not proof that there was ever an illegal ammount either. it seems like he is a victim of his reputation. if it wasn't contador with the trace amounts then would there be such a big deal?
i'm not defendng contador but think its a bit wrong to punish someone just because of who they are. if there was no doubt that he used the substance then fair enough, but i don't think you can punish someone for being 400 times under the limit with no real proof of there ever being an illegal amount. |

You're wrong on so many levels.
1. It's an illegal amount.
2. Several other athletes have been caught with same amount, Fuyu Li from RadioShack being one of them.
3. There's no lower or upper 'limit'.
4. Clenbuterol is not a natural product. Therefore, if you have ANY amount of clenbuterol in your body, it's illegal.
5. It's not "400 times below the limit" - as said, there's no limit. The thing you're referring to is that it's 40 (not 400) times below the amount that the WADA-certified labs have to be able to detect. |

As someone put it somewhere in a French article on internet, if you're a thief that runs faster than average, you can steal and not get caught by policemen. The day you'll steal in front of a policeman who runs faster than you, don't complain it's unfair you got caught. |

Ok, so, Serbia generally doesn't give a flying frack about cycling, but during the news, that were not even in prime time, I've just heard that the 2 year ban is confirmed by the UCI, and that it is a done deal.
