No points for the green jersey awarded on Letour.fr - I guess that was what Cancellara was talking with the organization about.
Sure?
Because in the classement they became points. |

Cunego and Vandevelde not good enough to wait for? The latter former top 10 of the tour.
They are 9 mins back, how slow should the peloton ride then?
I think that's the best solution, points only for Chavanel (maybe a little fine for Bouet for stupidness?). |

Very very disappointing stage for me... Cancellara should be knocked off from the tour. That was really prime ridiculously. What they're gonna do next: are they gonna ride like ladies tomorrow again? |

You are right. I was surprised about Roelands points, but he got some yesterday. |

Grand tours are supposed to be a sort of "ultimate test", if you can't ride on them, then you have no businesses winning a GT
Indeed, from now on I demand that GT's have to start in the BeNeLux with a prologue, wind, hilly and cobble stage, maybe then Gusev can finally win a GT XD
Futhermore it will be a lot of fun when guys like Andy and Alberto have to take 7 munites back on good overal cyclists in the Alps and Pyrenées.
Also... maybe release Wild Animals instead of just dogs...
I like your thinking. |

Good luck for all the sprinter who arrived 10-20min later. They didn`t lose points on a stage like this. On the other hand Freire or Hushovd who had no problems today lost points they will need. |

Depends... who falls. If Lance falls or Contador... pathetic. |

Equally you could argue that there were sprinters in the main peloton who would not have been there had the pace of the race been maintained, rather than stopping to wait for those who crashed, and then never getting going again

You guys are stupid they didn't sprint because the road was slipery and most of the sprinters were injured a mass sprint would have really been dangerous. Cancellara was just the speaker of the whole peleton he didn't take the decision himself.
-> Towards people complaining about the no-sprint

Maxime Bouet really deserves a stat update , he outsprinted the pack (including Hushovd). I think 80 sprint and 80+acc (massieve acceleration at the last meter) would do him justice |

And if he just stayed in the break he would have recieved points and get the points jersey which was the whole idea for him to go in a break... |

Right, but if I am right Hushovd, Freire and Rojas were still there before this situation and I really think they would have been in front withoout this situation.

Dont forget that the main hill of the race was effectivley neutralized, theres no way of knowing for sure just what might have happened there

I didn't see the stage, so my 2 cents about the reports I read might not be 100 % relevant...
The usual behaviour in a peloton is or should be more or less the following :
- a rider falls, leader or not, you don't accelerate to prevent him coming back
-> if you're only wandering around, not chasing or even maintaining a tempo, it makes no difference that you wait, so it's ok to wait
-> if the chase has started, too bad for the poor fellow who fell, but c'est la vie
-> if you're holding a tempo but have not launched the chase yet, just maintain that tempo, with the aide of cars the rider should be able to make his way back to the peloton
If it's rainy and slippy, what ? It makes no sense to neutralise it. Do sprinters neutralise mountain stages for GC contenders and climbers ? No.
Should riders who enjoy the sun better neutralise rainy races ? Definitely no.
If they're stupid enough to take too much risk in descents or slippery roads, it's their own problem. Follow or let go, if you try to follow but fall it's your problem. Would a F1 pilot cry that his car went off the track when he was merely driving too fast in a curve ? It's the same thing.
Rain, slipping roads, all that is part of the race. |
