I'm thinking of starting in a team, is there any good equipment for a beginner in cykling? The only experience I have of cykling is biking some of my own with a bike with a little bigger wheels thatn a race bike and with a normal bar. |

I went to the local Tuesday Crit today even though I can't race and Scotty showed up. He made the race hard. He was eitehr off the front or he was on it. He took 8th, a break went away with 2 of my teamates and stayed away.

All that training is paying off - great conditions and air temperature for today's TT, as I lopped almost 3.00" off my PB for a new one of 26.08...just started fast and kept it going despite headwind section. Did well through pain and then had great rhythm for last two miles. No complaints!
So 26.08, that's 23mph (37km/h), insane. I would have been pleased with sub-28 minutes! I am elated and exhausted

Nice to hear Andy! That's not far off my PB... i'd best go out and try set mine a little higher now! The difference between my 1st and 3rd time trial was also around about 3-4 minutes improvement - it's a great confidence booster to know the training you do is actually doing something. Keep it up!

My teamate stopped by to visit me on his way to our coach's house. He jokingly asked me to come so 10 minutes later I was dressed up and on the bike. My first time on the open road with my crash occuring only a week and a half before. My collarbone is stable and the harness I have on kept me from doing anything damageing. I felt so good on the way over I hit 30 mph then dropped my teamate

Today's twilight crit featured a couple superstars. Steve Cozza and Scotty Nydam took off the front and almost lapped the field. Cozza was gonna win right, good time trialist/classics rider against a climber. Cozza tried an attack with 1 to go but coming around the final turn Scotty had a 10 meter lead. Scotty won.

Did a 24 hour race in the Cotswolds this weekend; it's Le-Mans style, with laps about 7 miles long and teams can be any size... very painful, very fun, mentally very taxing. Team came a respectable 5th, though me and my mate ensured we were in the top two after the first 4 hours before it all slipped away...
All in all did 14 laps (95 miles or so), always big ring, including two in the dark (with lights). Craziest thing ever, feels like you're floating up climbs. You can't see what gear you're in and you can't see the gradient either, so sometimes I was crazily overgeared! Lots of fun, though I am/was KNACKERED. |

Just took my Trek on its inaugural 20 miler, as I had to get some kinks with the drivetrain worked out. Its a nice route, it starts downhill but ends with a really hard set of climbs back up from Washington D.C. to Bethesda MD. The bike's great, and despite the fact that I am out of shape and this was my first real ride of the year I made good time. |

I just did my hilly training ride, a nasty little six-miler (5.94 miles to be exact) in my neighborhood that I do when either I'm too tired or don't have time to do my 20-miler. It looks a lot easier then it is. Despite its length, it hurts like hell, here is the route map:

Finally got a result last night, just a rather mediocre 7th place, but it starts me off on the long road to 40 points that i need, so i'm happy enough. (i think i got 3 )

I did a 5.5 hour training ride on tuesday. then left for a camping trip on wednesday and got back today. Now I am supposed to get in shape for a Junior stage race at the end of next week. I am going to get my ass kicked. My first race back and I am going to have 1 week of riding in ahead of time

I'll tell you something, all of my camping and hiking helps with my cycling, as it helps me train to breath easier when doing strenuous exercise |
