Stage 17

i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/27052009-0.jpg

Short but tough. Riders will climb to Passo Lanciano and then to Blockhaus - together 25km of climbing with average gradient of about 8%. This is last real chance for Pellizotti or Basso to threat Garzelli and try to keep alive their dreams about Maglia rosa. Let´s see what is going to happen.

Silence before storm, it´s Euskaltel who is controlling pace of the P. in Passo Lanciano climb.
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/27052009-1.jpg

Carlos Barredo lost his nerves first and launches attack with 14km before finish. Real battle begins!
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/27052009-2.jpg

Niemec, Anton, LL Sanchez are attacking...following by Fuglsang, Monfort, Bruseghin and more others. As stefano has bad daily form today (-3), it will be Francesco Masciarelli who will make most of hard job in front today.
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/27052009-3.jpg

Key moment of stage, Franco Pellizotti attacks!
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/27052009-4.jpg

Francesco Masciarelli is pushing hard, Anton and Monfort are last riders who have been caught, only Pellizotti stays in front.
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/27052009-5.jpg

Stefano Garzelli in real troubles...
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/27052009-6.jpg

...whilst Franco Pellizotti is flying towards his second stage win!
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/27052009-7.jpg

Luckily Maglia rosa gives incredible strenght to its holders - Stefano is back in chasers group!
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/27052009-8.jpg

Pellizotti celebrates his 2nd win far away from finish. Great performance of Liquigas leader! Now we are waiting for Stefano...
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/27052009-9.jpg

...and here he is! 3rd place behind Basso and 2' after Franco! The gap shrinked to only 59"!!

i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/28052009-0.jpg

Rest stage after nervous one yesterday...despite of huge advantage built over the pack during stage, last man from BOTD Serguei Ivanov is about caught less then 5km before finish line.

Nice Career, I did a Career with A&S in PCM07! But Garzelli's best was 3rd, 5th and 7th in the Giro! I'm now chasing the PT-dream with Vacansoleil Wink

But it seems that you are still going to loos your underpants! No Gilbert win at the moment...
