40 people still in the peloton, Seeldraeyers still looking quite comfortable......and Lövkvist gets dropped.
*cough*

Cunego is NOT the best climber of them all, but is good enough for a top10, even a top 5, if in best shape. You're doing the same error as in last year's tour de france. I'll say it again.
A 100% Cunego, in your opinion, is among the best in the hills but weak in the high mountains. This year's Giro Cunego can't even follow Hagen on a short hill. This is your representation of a 100% Cunego? A guy who wins Amstel, 2 x 3rd place in the Fleche, a 3rd in Liege-Bastogne-Liege + 3 Giro di Lombardia can't keep the pace with Bosisio, Hagen, Horner and others on a short hill?
I think he's way out of form, yes. A 100% fit Cunego should challenge Di Luca on the stage to Pinerolo, or at least feature on the San Luca. Instead, he was dropped early on both. That shows he's out of form. However, I think he wouldn't stand a chance against Menchov, Basso, Sastre, Pellizotti, Leipheimer and Di Luca in the GC, no matter how fit he would've been. |
