I love me some mud and trail riding and then don't mind cleaning the bike afterwards of course. I also like riding on cold days quite much. But yeah, I'm with Aquarius here, rain is just the worst for cycling.

First ride in three months. Health is getting better, so need to get back out there. Pretty tired even after such a short ride. |

Finally had time for a trip after 2 busy weeks but suddenly the pump was broken and couldn´t get any air in the tires
Beatiful weather aswell...
One of few disadvantages with living outside the city, when you cant go buy a new pump in some minutes...

Nightmare. On pumping up tyres I always have to let lots of air out of mine before the Presta valve will open up and let me re-inflate it - is that just me? |

Not much, just a bit in general, sometimes no air out at all before I start inflating.
But air won't go in that easily either, I need to pump till the pump manometer says 10 bars or so before the valve eventually starts to collaborate and the air goes into the tube.
Done with my Gran Fondo #5 as well, that's 5 on 5 so far this year. I wonder if there'll be anything special for completing them all (assuming I'll be able to). |

Well done on the Gran Fondo's to date. I'm sure there will be an expensive "prize" you can buy at the end of it all! Hopefully you'll at least get some sort of virtual award for that effort though.

I was wondering (well actually searching for a ego boost ) how fast do you guys actually sprint in normal conditions? I wanne measure how I stand against you guys. I can sprint about high 30's, low 40's.
tested it myself this week in conditions that weren't beneficial (no backwind this time) and got 39,2 km/h and that was with my school backpack

did a 90km ride for the first time today and I came to the conclusion that I'm not strong enough to handle those kind of distances finish completly broken but satisfied. I did try to do 90 km rides before but back out and did 60 because a freezing headache and rubbed sun block in my eyes (yeah I did that )
finish my second 90k tourride and I think that I did better this time, took less time and I was less tired at the end. as a bonus I got 2396 VAM on a "climb" just one look at streetview and you see that this is not a climb a little bumped since I won't get a top 3 on the distance leaderboard, oh well, still think I did great for an 19 year old, without a real road bike and with no real cycling experience

Come on, I couldn't let your close attempt go unrewarded. Tomorrow is another day.
At least your distance is correct, I get more and more bothered with the wrong elevation from people...

In that case you really don't want to look at my rides, they can be quite out at times as the only way I can record them is through the app on my IPod touch which I don't think has a GPS sensor built in. Somehow it manages to get most of it right but when it gets it wrong it's normally fairly obvious to anyone looking at it what I actually did (except for when I tried to do my Cycle Speedway track which was all over the place).

I took a quick look and they look quite legit to me actually. My problem lies more in weird peak rides that feature no real, serious climb at all but still have a very high elevation data that is just unexplainable to me. But it's my personal issue I gues and I'll find a work-around for that.

There's a few questionable sections that I've noticed where it seems to jump me off road, or has me going beyond junctions and then turning back.
Unfortunately that seems to rob me of virtually every segment I ride through, I think there's only 2 segments that work for me and they only work about 20% of the times I go through them.
And with mine it's more issues with the speed not matching the gradient that annoys me, as when it makes a mistake it tends to either jump my speed through the roof or kill it completely depending on if it shortens or lengthens the route.
If you zoom in on my most recent ride you'll see that it doesn't always follow the road I'm actually on as it tends to straight line too much.
Oh and those rides you are referring to could be from segments that don't have the correct elevation data, I've got one near me that is seriously wrong which is actually like this

When you go to your ride page, there's a question mark below the elevation number, if you click it Strava will recalculate it for you. Beware though, it's not that accurate either. It often scraps like 10 or 20 % of elevation here, as it doesn't seem to account for all the small ups and downs along the roads (it's a rather flat area but by no mean are the roads 100 % flat). |

Interesting, I havn't see it though yet. Maybe you can only do it within a certain time-frame of a ride or it's limited to premium members? Nice feature though.

No, it's not a premium feature, and I can still edit rides from last weekend.
Again, use with care, only if there's something obviously wrong with your GPS data. |

I thought that I was in the same situation as you then noticed that my GF ride from April was 129.9 ks so I didn't get credited for the ride. Annoying as the Garmin said 130 but oh well not much I can do

Okay. I didn't really intend on using the feature myself though since I think the rides & elevation are pretty much correct for me. Though there are some differences of course, however the tacho says they are marginal.
On a much lighter note: Sunshine! Sunshine! Since last week, the first time finally sunshine again.

I once cheated to complete a 10k effort (running around the track), the watch said 10.01 when I stopped, Strava said 10k, but needed 9.98, but it only counted 9.96 or something, so I manually edited the file to add non existing points and make the run 9.98 km long.
You could probably do the same for cycling, although adding one full kilometer (or a few hundreds meter) could be more complicated. |
