Stijn: The toughest stage of this Tour Down Under. I hope to survive!

The Race

Stijn Van Gent

Damn those GC/Points jerseys! I want my WC jersey back!

I gave Vanmarcke a free role today, since he's the better puncher of the both of us. However, when I got in trouble with a dangerous break, he stepped up and did some hard work. I owe him one!

Sagan with a dangerous late attack. I was hanging on for my life, it was tough!

An ex-team mate of mine, Costa, took the win!

Aftermath

This season could not have started better. I never expected to take the general classification here. The climbs this year were not selective enough to drop me, great!

I'm looking forward to the pancake flat Qatar now, see you there!

PCM rulezz - A wonder start for a great year! Thanks Wink I don't think even Tom Boonen will be able to do something against Stijn!

Jesleyh - Don't really count Points Jersey as a win so 4 by my counting Pfft Has it only been 8 hours? Grin

krisa - Not really. Really blew away the competition in that final sprint Cool

just make sure that he doesn't peak to early like last year Wink

Strong ride from Stijn here, also hoping he breaks his habit of peaking too soon. Vanmarcke is an excellent teammate for him, maybe even a bit too good to be a domestique. And Sagan's stats were very disappointing, almost no progress.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Too easy for Stijn. Great performance by Vanmarcke aswell.

Ollfardh - I hope so, too. I think he'll peak right this season! Sagan made almost no progress indeed Frown Vanmarcke will probably leave the team when his contract is up, he deserves to lead!

Jakstar22 - Thanks!

sutty68 - If so, this season will be amazing!

wogsrus - He sure has a brilliant team mate in him!

Tour of Qatar

The Tour of Qatar can be branded a success for the team. The first stage saw World Champion Van Gent finishing second, behind Démare. In the team time trial, Wouters led his team to a second place, giving Van Gent a chance of bringing home the final classification. Stage 3 saw an exceptional breakaway rider succeed, Foudoulakis, Van Gent winning the mass sprint for place 2. After that, there was no stopping him. Taking stages 4, 5 and 6, Van Gent also takes home the GC and the Points Jersey. It seems there is no stopping the World Champion with a lead-out with Wouters, Farrar, Vanmarcke, Kreder and Markus at his side.

NOTE TO ALL

Just wanting to keep you all in the loop here. I've been thinking about what PCM 2013 will do to this story and whatnot. I've taken a couple decisions. Well, nothing's sure yet, but I just want to let you know what I came up with so far, so I can get some feedback on it.

1) I decided to start simulating a bit more races, instead of racing everything. The above is an example. Races I'd like to simulate are Non-WT races (besides Omloop and others of course). If Wouters would be in a GT without Stijn, I'd also skip the flat stages. Hope you agree with me here.

2) I might be called an optimist or even a naive man, but I believe PCM 2013 will be a big improvement. So far, I've heard things that make me this optimistic about the new game. Unfortunately, I'm slightly autistic when it comes to things like this: I find it hard to keep playing an old game when a new one is released. So here's what I might do (not sure, but might): 2016 is looking like it'll be the year of Stijn. His stats are reaching heights while Boonen and Cancellara just started decreasing. I think it might be nice to stop this story after the biggest year of his career. With his current progress and stats, it might even start to get boring for some if I continued this for more seasons.

3) One more season would put the end of this around the release of PCM 2013, maybe a bit later/sooner, doesn't matter much. This would allow me to - first get a hang on PCM 2013 - secondly think of a great new story - third start a PCM 2013 story. Like I said, I'm a bit autistic when it comes to new games etc, so I reckon my chance for a long story is to start fairly soon with the new game and last it all the way through the newer game (PCM14). So I'd like to attempt only 1 story with PCM 2013. I'd give it a lot of thought first and test it out before starting the story here, of course.

Anyway, those are just thoughts I have now. Of course, I can change my mind and whatnot, but that's what's on my mind now and I just wanted to share and get your opinion, since (some of) you will be following this/the next story. Just wanted to get your thoughts.

PS. Any new story would not include Van Gent or Wouters. (at least not as riders) I'd do something entirely different.

I would not start a PCM 13 story till the bugs are fixed and there's a good database, which can still be far away. I'd hate to see your story get ruined by bugs or crashes, so yeah, you might want to wait a bit with a new story Smile
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

PCM rulezz
Qatar was another great succes Grin.
And every story you made was great, so just follow your own mind and see what you came up with. I'm sure I will follow it: this or a PCM 2013 story.
Winners never quit, quitters never win.

kimiopn
1. Wow, you are going so fast without simulating, but that is a good decision imo.

2. Last year i bought PCM 2012 right after it came out to try it, but i only started to play a long career after daily db was available. Doesn't Stijn have a young rival that might challenge him? Are you playing on extreme difficulty? There are ways to make it more interesting, you might edit the stats. But of course, that's up to you.

3. I think you shouldn't make just 1 story in PCM13 because you have a great imagination and i think after you play a lot with the 2013 teams you should start a career with a past database like my own on CSC 2006. It would be nice to change real history and there are a lot of guys in here making a good job on past db. It's my suggestion.

Anyway, every choice you make is welcome Wink
