Nordic Cycling | Final Farewell
Shonak
... and the domination continues. There's really no beating Nordic Cycling when it comse to National Jerseys. Great to see Thor for the remaining season as the norwegian champion. He has done a lot to increase cycling's popularity in Norway I think. IKEA Cycling need to get their tactics better next time. All riders just sprinting might sound good on paper but it very rarely works in action.

Wow. All jerseys, some close, others not so close.
Nice to see Thor finishing his career as a champion Smile

Shonak: A team as ours should be able to dominate the NC's Wink
And IKEA almost suceeded in their rather weird tacticts where as they wouldn't stand a chance against Ludvigsson in a regular sprint...

Ian: It is in deed. Very fitting to see the perhaps most important person in Norwegian cycling ever finishing as a champion Grin

Tour de France

Preview

This year we will be revisiting the Tour route from the 2007 Edition

kwc.org/cycling/tour.2007.map.jpg
10 flat stages
3 flat ITT’s (116 km)
2 Medium Mountain Stages
6 Mountain stages
3 Summit finishes

Only Antón and Atapuma of the best climbers in the world are missing, so this is bound to be an explosive race.

Farrar and Appolonio are the only top-sprinters missing out so the bunch sprints will be explosive as well.

We will be targeting a good GC from Willy Ipsen. Hoping for a podium and expecting at least a top 10.

Edvald Boasson Hagen will be aiming for his 2nd Green jersey supported by Hushovd.

Stage 1: London (ITT)

Willy for a 6th place!

Nice Prologue by Edvald. Not much stopping Tony Martin when he is in top shape. Any hopes for a GC or does the team mainly focus around EBH and Hushovd and breakaway wins later on?

Ian: We'll see how fit the others are, but we're dreaming of a bit more than a 6th place to be honerst Wink

Shonak: Willy Ipsen, who finished 8th in the Tour last year will be our GC hope. Just hope we don't get things ruined by betting on two horses...

sutty: It most certainly was!

June Edition

i1353.photobucket.com/albums/q675/AllanHG/Nordic%20Cycling%20Project/rankings_zpsf5c9908d.jpg

Rider of the Month: Vincenzo Nibali, Nissan. With a GC win in Dauphiné and an Italian ITT Championship Nibbles proved ready for the Tour.
Nordic Rider of the Month: Tobias Ludvigsson, Novo Nordisk – SAS. With a stage win in Jylland Rundt followed by a lot of hard work and two National Championships Tobias had a very good month.

In stead of an interview we will be taking a closer look at the national championships named in June.

Eusebio Unzue was finally able to announce that Iberia will be replacing Movistar as name sponsor of the team.

Club la Santa will be replaced by a familiar face – at least for some fans: ONCE is back sponsoring cycling!

Nissan will be replaced by Asics

i1353.photobucket.com/albums/q675/AllanHG/Nordic%20Cycling%20Project/transfer_zpsdf01994d.jpg

We seem to be in for a game-changing transfer season. Big profiles like Nibali, Kreuziger, Gesink and Antón is looking for new teams while several of the big teams will be losing most of their profiles.

Cofidis will be losing their three best riders, Liquigas have to let their top 4 go and Santander only keeps Coppel out of their top 5.
Nissan is losing a lot of good riders as well, but still has Quintana and Farrar on the team so things aren't looking too bad for them.

Chech here for a full list of the most priminent rider(s) leaving the WT-teams as well as the most interesting continental riders:

Gesink and Kelderman leaving Rabobank, does Rabo have anybody good left then?

Atlantius
SSJ2Luigi: Not in terms of climbing, but Tosh Van der Sande has developed to one of the worlds best punchers and then they have Kittel for the sprints and Boom for the classics. So a lot of teams are looking worse than Rabo without good signings Wink

There’s some small hills, but mostly they just introduce the mountain jersey.

Throughout the day we share the workload with Volkswagen.

Thor does a great job leading out Edvald. In the slipstream: Roelandts, Kittel and Demare.

Going into the final km the break is caught by the sprinters and it’s time for Edvald to give it his final punch.

Roelandts goes past him with 700 m left

But the Norwegian had the most left and comes back right on the line!
What a sprint!

i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t605/Atlantius_PCM/2016%20Novo-SAS/07-01-TdF-3-1_zps6715e90c.jpg
Even flatter than yesterday…

i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t605/Atlantius_PCM/2016%20Novo-SAS/07-01-TdF-3-2_zps1d5ccf92.jpg
As yesterday a massive break took most of the points on the intermediates.
i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t605/Atlantius_PCM/2016%20Novo-SAS/07-01-TdF-3-3_zps8105f404.jpg
Nearing the finish we were forced to do pretty much all the work to reel in the break.
i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t605/Atlantius_PCM/2016%20Novo-SAS/07-01-TdF-3-4_zpsa302ae0b.jpg
With 5 km to go the peloton splits in two. Gesink is one of the big names reported to be caught behind.
i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t605/Atlantius_PCM/2016%20Novo-SAS/07-01-TdF-3-5_zpsf196fb8a.jpg
Thor keeps Edvald in position to take Demares wheel to the front.
i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t605/Atlantius_PCM/2016%20Novo-SAS/07-01-TdF-3-6_zps0892f264.jpg
Keukeleire has the led going into the final 600 m.
i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t605/Atlantius_PCM/2016%20Novo-SAS/07-01-TdF-3-7_zps22dbeb0d.jpg
Again today Edvald proves that he knows exactly when to strike!
i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t605/Atlantius_PCM/2016%20Novo-SAS/07-01-TdF-3-8_zps00900207.jpg
Only 86 riders finished in the front group. Ipsen was where he should be but Rolland, Gesink, Kruijswijk and Porte were all caught behind.

Edvald! Good to see that he has come into perfect form just at the right moment for Tour de France.

The Rider
You deserve this: www.sherv.net/cm/emo/funny/2/dance.gif

This start is exactly why I am a fan of bonus seconds! Wink

(Surely the best smiley ever seen on PCM Daily!!!) Smile

Ian Butler
Wow. Impressive Smile

sutty68
Eddy is looking awesome at the moment Smile

And he is determined to keep his Points jersey Wink

Atlantius
Shonak: Exactly. Who cares if he can win in Suisse when he can ride like this a week later?

The Rider: Thanks Grin If the Tour had bonus seconds Edvald would be in yellow, which would probably massively reduce the chance of more bunch sprints in the days to come as we wouldn't have Volkswagen helping out Wink

Ian: I have to admit that I'm a bit surprised as well. Especially about not seeing any of his main competitors at the front yet.

sutty: He most certainly is (both)!
