Jesleyh - Thanks for the extensive answer At this age they should definitely get a Monument or GT, I agree. Though with Willy going to the Tour, it'll be hard. But he's talented enough! I will definitely not quite before that happens |

romaniangoat - They were good pretty fast, so at 31 years they'll be over the top, probably, yeah |

Welcome in 2016,
We're happy to see many familiar faces around here, people who have been sticking by us since 2012, when we took our first steps in the world of professional cycling. We've all come a long way since then.
We plan to give everything in 2016, this year has to be known as the year of Van Gent & Wouters. We plan to make Belgian and even international history. It's an ambitious plan, but we're going for it! With that ambitious plan comes a new banner/header (see above). 2016 will also be the year of Stijn Van Gent's (first) Rainbow Jersey. We hope you will be with us along the way.
First, let us start by giving you good news. Team Garmin has treated the entire team on new bikes, new equipment, GPS and last but not least, a week's vacation, sponsored by Gulliver's Travels, an American travel-agency. Because the team finished first in the UCI Team Rankings, every rider got a free vacation.
Our first training camp was in Mallorca and went smoothly. Phinney is a real addition to the team and you'll see him shine this year!
But the most important news concerns the three absolute leaders of Team Garmin: Stijn Van Gent, Daniel Martin and Willy Wouters. Team Garmin launched a new initiative called the "trustee-method". All three of them (us) will have one absolute domestique, who will stick by his leader for the whole year; not only in races, but sharing rooms, going training together... The goal is to be close together both professionally and privately.
So we (Stijn and Willy) will drift apart a little bit more this year, well, only professional, though. This system of trustee sounds great and we want to give it a shot!
In the end, everyone benefits. We always have someone to rely on, and we can share our experiences for the trustees. However, in Stijn's case, there's something different.
Willy Wouters will take Lou Smeets under his wing. Lou Smeets is a 24-year old Belgian with climbing and time trialing talent. He's been coming up in the world and Willy will teach him all he knows, Lou will support him the best he can.
Stijn Van Gent doesn't get a youngster. Instead, Tyler Farrar offered to ride with Stijn the entire season, leading out sprints and helping him on the cobblestones. Stijn's obviously honored and accepted Tyler's generous offer.
Willy Wouters' Calender 2016
This year I will try something different. Lesser races in the start of the season, but I will attempt two Grand Tours. This schedule is a draft, but you can pretty much count on it, though.

Stijn Van Gent's Calender 2016
2016 has to be a wonder year. With the World Champion Jersey, there's no other way. I won't let that infamous curse bring me down! I will hit it down hard and all season long! My schedule counts well into the 70 - 80 race days and ends with the World Championships. At the age of 25-26, I don't think fatigue should be much of an issue, contrary to 2 years ago. I think I will hold up much better this year.

I've slightly started to follow this story, and I really enjoy the reading. Great idea by following two riders! I just wondered if I/we could see the stats of the two riders before the season starts?

PCM rulezz - Thanks
anderspcm - I'm glad you started to follow the story and enjoy it! However, I don't give their stats, sorry
Miguel98 - Thanks
SSJ2Luigi - So IGN does exist? But it's ING's logo, though...
Daggen - Thanks for helping out
Jakstar22 - Shouldn't have to wait too long! I don't know, though, I think I'd start something new on PCM 2013.
Schleck96 - Let's make it the best season yet!
sutty68 - Thanks!
alex344 - Thank you!
Got a family/hospital situation going on at the moment so I'll be visiting for a few hours. I'll see when I have time but I've got other things to do for the moment. Shouldn't take all day, though.
Also, about PCM 2013 we'll see. Normal scenario is that I continue this story. But if PCM 2013 is an enormous improvement and I somehow lose motivation to continue on PCM 2012, I'll probably wrap up the story early. We'll see |

I like the schedules!
Hope they can achieve those goals.
And I like it that Ian doesn't reveal those stats, btw, it gives the story an extra touch for me, and a reason to complain about 85 stats for TMM
Any chance we can see the team stats without the 2 guys, Ian?
@Jak I do check the PCM 11 story section as well, in fact, sometimes I scroll through your story as well, but i check PCM 12 more regulary, to be very honest

Thanks a lot Jesleyh I'll try to upload the team's roster, sure!
I guess I'll have to build myself as big a fan-base as possible, so that as many people as possible will continue to follow this when PCM 2013 is out
Or maybe I'm in luck and PCM 2013 will really suck
Anyway, got back from hospital now, so I'll be starting the season now. |

For Jesleyh, the team's stats:
Spoiler
You'll notice Phinney's AVG level is too low. When he joined my team, I noticed he had only 67 COB, while he's much better at it irl, so I upped his COB stat.

That's a big up
But thanks for showing the team, Stijn & Willy have a really strong team!
Spoiler Must resist a Kelderman comment. I can do that. Come on.
