Now something I always wondered about: What you guys are bringing with yourself on the rides? I am not only talking about cycling equipment, but about food, water and stuff like that. Anything special?

I am talking about ~115 km rides, as I have serious plans about doing one with my friend, this summer.

I've done 100k with:

A couple of energy bars
A couple of sandwiches
A bottle of energy drink
A few litres of water

However, it does depend on the person. I don't eat a lot, so that was fine and gave me enough energy. You find out what works for you over time.

It really is trial and error when you are talking about longer rides to find out what works for you. I don't really bring along anything if it's around 100 k's unless its all climbing as the body will need fuel, I try and leave the Gels out but usually have one handy, a banana or 2 is handy, same goes for musli bars and something like gatorade does work a treat. Stay away from purely sugar based things unless it is right near the end of the ride as the body burns through that quite quickly, what you eat the day before will play a big factor on how your body performs the next day on a long rides.

For the kinda ride you're talking about Admir I'd probably take a banana and maybe a Snickers and a couple of bottles of water.

I'd guess what you need for the distance depends more on how used you are to such a ride and how long you're gonna spend in the saddle. 115k would probably take me about 4 hours so it's not that much of an issue but if you haven't done much riding then it could take a couple of hours more than that. Best advice is to take more food than you think you'll need as the extra weight isn't gonna be much of an issue.

It mostly depends on the effort duration and intensity. You'll need to replace what your body has burnt. If the intensity is at least a little sustained it'll mean sugar, and you don't have more than ~2 hours of that in the tank at best, so you'll need to eat.
Generally I don't bring anything when I do less than 2 hours, no matter what kind of intensity I do.

For longest rides tips have been given above : energy drink, bananas (but that easily gets dirty on your shirt), cereal bars. Avoid anything you know your stomach won't keep. Apples, bread or anything spicy in my case (I can eat them normally, but not while cycling or the last meal before if the intensity is sustained that'll make me feel like puking).

Usually just grab a bottle full with water and refill it in any nearby fountain, of which we have many. Gets me through the day.

Equipment - Garmin, phone, pocket sized lock (for popping into a shop only), money and bank card.

Inept enough to only rely on puncture resistant tyres otherwise I would carry a puncture repair kit/mini pump.

Food for a long one - cereal bar, banana, 2 large bottles (1 water, 1 sports drink to replace salts and help prevent cramp) and either pick up some food at a snack stop or carry a sandwich too. Would likely need to refill those bottles along the way if out for longer than 3 hours.

On the bike: Garmin, two bottles with water/sports drink, based on the ride intensity. In the pocket: Extra tube, pump and tire levers for punctures; phone, money for eventual coffee stops and an amount of bananas based on the length of the ride. As a norwegian I always carry my food pack as well. If the ride is on high intensity I wiill bring some energy bars.

Hard weekend ended with two DNFs, but I still managed to race quite good, I think. The shape is not bad, and I'm looking forward to new Norwegian Cup races in two weeks. It is easier to ride good there, than it is with competition from these danish monsters.

I am definitely considering that 115 (not sure if that's long enough) ride for this Saturday. Nothing is sure yet, so you can still hope. Pfft

Bring anything that will give you marginal gains, I guess, f.e. I usually bring some painkillers, etc. Pfft

My Short-Term Goal (next two months) is:
To ride a long distance (more than 100k)

My Biggest 'Obstacle(s)' to reach this goal will be:
finding the motavation to ride and the enduerance to go 100k

This is/are the main reason(s) why I will reach this goal:
because I want to

by that logic I should do 200 km Pfft please Mezgec don't make it three Pfft

I eat alot, but can't before a ride. Just feel absolutely terrible when l eat big, then ride. Even with that, l often don't take much food with me either.

Depending on the weather I might tackle May's Gran Fondo this weekend.
With all the latest additions to the group I wouldn't hope to keep a top 3 till the end of the week if I were you. Pfft

As for sprinting speed...I think I can do around 45-50km/h on the flat but will give it a thrash next time I'm out to see (probably 50km/h is wishful thinking). One thing's for certain those few hundred metres are slower than Tony Martin averages for 50km...

Made me realise I never sprint when riding, it nearly killed me Grin

Apart from needing some serious work on my position I just about struggled to 50 kph but minus 49 kph for style marks...
