Surprisingly, Marque won ahead of Valoso by 3 seconds.
TT 1-2-3 for OFM. I'll try not to laugh
Very exciting this year, and one of the tightest editions ever. Credibility, though, is not the main attraction of our home Tour. And to think even the other day I was reading Ribeiro victimizing himself due to the celerity of his process...

Two things. 1st, it was not a 1-2-3, it was 1-2-5. Second, of all this years, never a Volta had such a mountainous route that suited pure climbers and a Time-Trialist win's it. Carlos Pereira should commit suicide and run away because his worst than Mário Rocha. If Veloso and Marque are doping (suspicious yes), not saying that Efapel and Sousa are not doping, hope it get's revealed soon cause having another Ribeiro case will show how stupid Portuguese can be. |

Tour de l'Avenir begins next week and some of the startlist has been released.
https://www.procyc...-Startlist
Germany has Dieteren and Zabel for the sprints, Sutterlin for the prologue. Herklotz for the remaining stages, would be bit surprised if he didn't come away without a stage win.
Belgium has De Bie, and as well Jasper Stuyven who should dominate the sprints, shown good form at Utah as well!
One other rider he will challenge him will be Sondre Holst Enger, equally good in sprints and equally good on hilly terrains as Stuyven. Could be intresting battle between those two, I see them taking a stage win both.
From Spain, Barbero will be a threat, both in sprints and on tougher terrains, very similar to the two guys mentioned above actually, but if all goes well Barbero could even surprise in a GC, especially as the stages are very short.
Juan Ernesto Chamorro will lead Colombian charge in GC, good candidate for the win.
Rest of startlist will appear slowly during this week.

Rather weak support for Herklotz obviously, though Buchmann and Werda have some results on tougher stages. Christian Mager might've been more helpful there, but who am I to judge the selection.
I see Zabel fighting for Top3's on a good day, and Sütterlin is a good bet for the prologue win indeed.
Good to see a very balanced team of only 6 that is able to compete on all terrains.
Finally, I again expect nothing from Herklotz as I still can't believe he really is a climber
On the other hand, if you beat Parra and Hirt on a climb...
At least I can't see anyone besides the Colombians being stronger from those that are listed.
Is there going to be any sort of live coverage? I expect a ticker the very least.

If Gorbunov didn't peak too early and this week's climbing isn't his best, then god help anyone who thinks they have a chance against him

Zabel is the best sprinter so far, Stuyven is also very fast.
Any favourites for the GC? Probably a Colombian.
Will Ewan and Zoidl participate? |

Zoidl is too old. He is 25.

Zabel is not that fast. Please don't overrate him as a super sprinter, he's good but not as good as you state.
Stuyven, Enger or Ewan could beat him most of the time, if not few other riders too in this field too.

Exactly.
Zabel hasn't got the speed and talent of Erik Zabel. He's just very good in taking hills, and therefore just has more energy left at the end.
I don't rate Stuyven too high on sprints either. Though he's way more talented than Zabel,'he's more a strong puncheur with a strong kick at the end.
Chamorro seems a strong contender, I think he can win this one.
I think that Daan Olivier will participate as well(not listed yet on the startlist)
If so, trust my words, definitely a guy to watch here.
Hope some of the other Dutch talents will participate as well.
Groenewegen, Havik(if still allowed?), and maybe Reinders or Van der Weijst for the sprint?
Van Baarle, Slik, Bovenhuis & Van der Lijke participating would be cool as well.
Looking forward to the full startlist, and of course the race

If Olivier participates, no way he'll even finish top 10. Having only 6 or 7 race days this year, if he does it, I'll be surprised. |

Yeah, I'm not sure what's actually going on there...
He could just be preparing for the Tour de Avenir.
He was injured after a crash in the trainingcamp, still was this spring, and had to rest, but he should be able to race again now.
I don't know, actually.
But he's not out of cycling or so, Argos signed him for next year
In an interview in April(when he was injured), he said he would focus on Avenir & the U23 Worlds, actually

I know he signed for Argos. My teory (conspiracy) was that Rabobank CT would not let him race because of him signed with Argos. |

Actually, after some more searching, I found it.
He seemed to have overtrained himself at the end of last year.
Rabo CT decided to give him a rest-period for a few months(starting April to start of July).
He's feeling better now(well, that was the end of July), but has to build up his form of course.
He aims to be 100% fit next season, but still aims for some late-season races(didn't specify which one), so we'll still see him this season.

Rabobank isnt related to Belkin/previous sponsors anymore, just an independent development team

I thought Zoidl was younger. And I meant that Zabel is one of the fastest of those who allready confirmed. And Stuyven isn't a topsprinter either, he's just good at hills as well (and cobbles, but those aren't relevant in Tour l'Avenir). Didn't Stuyven got a top 10 in Tour of California after a hilly stage, where he finished a few spots behind Sagan and Meersman? |

USA Pro Challenge is starting today! Here's the Tour Tracker: https://radioshacktourtracker.usaprocy...lenge.com/
Sky says they will work for Dombrowski and Danny Pate. I would expect Danny Pate to podium or even win if he has Froome and Porte working for him, as the race is not really for pure climbers. Dombrowski will likely not be adapted to the altitude, whereas Danny Pate has been training in Colorado Springs for the past few weeks.
Prediction:
1) Tom Danielson
2) Danny Pate
3) Tejay Van Garderen
4) Darwin Atapuma
5) Janier Acevedo
