Planning to do at least 80km tomorrow in two separated rides. One will be early in morning, where I am going to try putting up some pace (I'll be riding alone, so I think I can get some good numbers on that one) and another one will be in afternoon, where I'll be riding with few of my friends (all of them are in endurance sports - biathlon, cycling, athletic so I expect at least solid statistics in that one, but a bit more casual ride this time).
Will be interesting to see how will I arrange my energy and if I am going to leave anything in my tank after that morning ride...

Okay, done one 30km ride and had to shorten it because of the storm and strong rain. The weather still isn't looking good today, so I think my 80km-goal falls in water (literally). That 30km ride was pretty enjoyable, but really weird. The weather was great until I hit 15th kilometer and started getting back to the home. From that point, it was hell, as the rain was really strong and I only had sweatshirt on my torso. Pretty solid one for me, here's the link of ride: https://www.strava.../136491093 , and the link of a picture I took today. I love it! https://prntscr.co...
Anyways, that's not the main reason why I am writing this. During todays ride and after it I felt strong pain in my butt and lower part of my back generally. The strongest pain comes from the "sitting" part of my back . I understand that it's probably something normal, but is it because of the fact that my bike and seat are more or less new and I am just not used on them, the fact that I was passive during the winter or it has something to do with wrong position on bike and my seat setup? Would like to get few advices on what should I do about it.

If I'd had to guess, it's because of the steep climb a couple of days ago (15% gradient?) and it's an after-effect of it. For such steep climbs, you should have already done a couple of rides before.
It also could be your general positon but no idea what your setup is, maybe trying out the a little bit with the saddle in the upcoming rides? And yes, new bike probably could be the reason too.

May be that, as I am the person that almost never jumps out of the seat, no matter what type of terrain is coming.
Currently searching about the problem on Google and YouTube and there are alot of different answers. Seems like I'll have to play a bit with my seat set up, or just get used to it. Thanks, Shonak!

It always takes some rides to get used to a new seat. I have had the same problem every time I get a new seat; it lasts for some rides, and then the problem is gone. I don't think there's anything to worry about. |

My groin certainly felt a new saddle for the first few rides! No problems since - it's amazing how quickly your body becomes accustomed to new pressure points. |

Havent been able to ride for about 3 months properly. Suffering the effects of a chronic illness, and the stress of having to quit my job because of it probably haven't helped. Hopefully in a week or two will start with some shorter rides. My body has no energy at the moment. |

The home trainer helps to give you that little bit of fitness but nothing beats being out on the open road |

Great to know that it isn't any serious. Thanks for your answers guys.
Also, hope you recover soon Wogsrus. Such a bad news that you've lost the job and you can't ride in the same time, as I am sure that some activity would make you forget about it. GL in starting to ride again and in finding a new job, 'cause why not...
It's pretty much boring night over here, so I decided to explore the Strava app a bit more and look what I've found in the profile of my first Strava ride (the one on Tuesday).
It's not the only "very steep" section, as there are few others with 17%, 15,5% and 18,9% and many ones around 13% and 14% gradients, but this one above is just crazy. I've never imagined that there are such a steep hills that close to my town (I mean, I knew that these hills were at least 12%-13%, but had no idea that there are some sections even over 20%)!

Strava estimated my avg watts to be 62, what have I done wrong?
Anyways, enjoyed the bump on these 0.1 star cobbled sections around my community. Could only imagine the torture riders go through in Roubaix. Here is an example:

Wish I could ride real cobbles.
Strava looks like a pretty fun app, but perhaps being only 45kg doesn't help when your surroundings have no climbs.

@admir: Well, don't be fooled though, Strava has its known problems with steep climbs and the gradients, especially when the climbs are short. It sometimes shows gradients of up to 45-50% at my local climbs.

I can only be sure that it's really steep Shonak, but it was just interesting to see that it's 21,9%. It's good to know that it isn't so accurate, thanks for info.

It's not Strava but the rider who has set up the segment and the device they are using. The phone app or anything else that runs directly off (Garmin 200) GPS will give faulty elevation details but something with a barometric altimeter (Garmin 500, Bryton Rider 50) will give out much more accurate data.

Looking forward to my UCI debut next weekend. Hadeland GP and Ringerike GP will be ridden on saturday and sunday. Will be extremely hard, but still fun. I hope to get as far as I can in the race; especially Ringerike will be difficult to finish as it ends in 10 laps of about 6 km and the riders a lap behind will be taken out. |

Hey, I've never realy done something here on Pcm Daily, only a few shirts for PCM. But I also do cycling, and it sounded intresting to look here some times. I'm 15 years old and 2nd year U17 now. Last year, after a very bad the road season I focussed a little more on cyclocross. And you can say it paid of, in the cyclocross season I had 12 wins and from january the 1st I started riding for the developement team from Bkcp-Powerplus (Enertherm-Bkcp). Only the Dutch championships didn’t go so well, I was leading the first lap but hit a tree with my schoulder and crashed. I still finished 3rd but had a bruised schoulder… This summer-season I’ve already won 2 MTB races and finshed 2nd 2 times on the road. |
