Zomegnan continues to show that there are many people seriously commited to fighting against doping...and he isn't one of them. Quite the opposite, in fact.
Diquigiovanni have signed Bertagnolli on loan for one month so he can ride the Giro. Zomegnan sees no problems in the fact that Bertagnolli isn't a part of the biological passport, despite the fact that several other teams and riders have been rejected based on the official explanation that it's only because they're not affiliated with the blood passport.
This is the man who refused to allow the 2008 Giro samples to be re-tested for CERA. this is a man who is a big enemy of clean cycling.
He makes me sick.

What do you think Zomegnan's agenda was with keeping Simeoni out of the Giro? |

Zomegnan is an idiot. Didn't he try to up the price for Giro rights (to Versus) because of Lance riding and Versus told him to beat it.? |

Cos Simeoni is shit. One good doped performance isn't enough to show boat his way into his home tour. Like Zomegnan said, Simeoni had all of Milan-San-Remo to chat to Lance and clear the air, and had Tirreno to show RCS why Ceramica should be invited. Simeoni didn't even finish the race. So why should he be invited to an event he's unlikely to finish or perform well in? It's not like more people are going to be attracted to the event because of the jersey. It's Italy, they'll watch it anyway. In fact, more people in the world will watch it for the Lance factor than they would for an old, shit, rider like Simeoni.
Isso: Now why the heck would Zommy want to taint the good image of the cleanest grand tour with doping offenses? That's like shitting in your own back garden.

Agree with rjc. I still haven't seen any argument that Ceramica and Simeoni should be invited. The team sucks, and he sucks |

Crue:
Caruso.
Giro del Trentino: Pampeago:
1. POL NIEMIEC Przemyslaw MIE 3h50'44" 20
2. ITA BASSO Ivan LIQ 22" 10
3. ITA CARUSO Giampaolo FLM 39" 5
4. ITA SIMONI Gilberto SDA 45" 3
5. SLO BRAJKOVIC Janez AST 01'01" 0
6. ITA POZZOVIVO Domenico CSF 01'08" 0
7. VEN RODRIGUEZ ORTIZ Jackson Jesus SDA 01'24" 0
8. COL RUBIANO CHAVEZ Miguel Angel CZP 01'26" 0
9. ESP PARDILLA BELLON Sergio CMO 01'34" 0
10. SLO NOSE Tomasz ADR 01'42" 0
Final stage:
1. ITA DI LUCA Danilo LPR 4h58'19" 20
2. ITA CARUSO Giampaolo FLM 10
3. ITA GARZELLI Stefano ASA 5
4. ITA POZZOVIVO Domenico CSF 3
5. ITA BASSO Ivan LIQ 04" 0
6. POL NIEMIEC Przemyslaw MIE 22" 0
7. ITA SIMONI Gilberto SDA 22" 0
8. ITA BERTAGNOLLI Leonardo AMI 22" 0
9. VEN RODRIGUEZ ORTIZ Jackson Jesus SDA 22" 0
10. SLO BRAJKOVIC Janez AST 30" 0
So. There goes your argument of Ceramica being weak or whatever. They probably have more to do in the Giro then Bouygues for example.

I agree with the caruso part but what has the rest of their team done ??? Absolutely nothing haha. I think fuji will put up a better performance tho with riders like cobo and kriefsaff (cant spell) . To me its pretty clear who to put in. Nevertheless bouygues are probably one of the worst teams in cycling lol they have no climbers what so ever and get in all grand tours grrrrrr. I hate that team |

The rest of their team alone has at least as many wins as almost half the teams in the Giro.

That awful awful team is the 4th most victorious team at the Giro this season.
But hey, it's fashionable to bash Bouygues, so let's do that. let's bash a team that wins a lot of races clean just because it's cool. And while we're at it, let's support a more fashionable team that wins less despite not being clean and having 5 times the budget, like Quickstep, Saxo Bank, Rabobank, Astana, LPR, Cervélo, Liquigas, Lampre, etc. etc. etc.
I could basically name almost every team at the giro, since only Diquigiovanni and Columbia have more wins than Bouygues this season.
Apologies for being aggressive but it pisses me off that people complain so much about teams having doped riders, yet when a team wins consistently despite a low budget and having to ride clean, people turn around and make fun of them.
It's moronic.
And don't get me started on the "climbers" comment. I don't see anyone ripping on Katusha for not having climbers. of course not, Katusha is fashionable

Then you should've said that.
Not that it's true, mind, they win ProTour races every year, which are pretty damn big as far as I can remember.

Ripped the field to shreds? What giro were you watching?
He got dropped early on every mountain stage and finished them all 20 minutes behind, with the exception of the final mountain stage, where he got in the break, got caught by the pack on the final ascent of the murderously steep (*cough* ) 4% incline passo Aprica (which is basically a false flat) where he relayed a bit....which would only matter if Riccò had tried to attack....which he didn't.
So, Colom's impact at that Giro was negligible.
But still, you missed my point. Which was that a Grand Tour is not about climbers. It's about all types of riders, unlike what you were implying.

Bouygues has some decent riders actually. Guys like Voeckler, Lefevre, Trofimov are not bad, last year they had Pineau etc. They just don't have any stars
EDIT: this was writen before I read Isso's posts.

I know it is but to be brutally honest bougyues never take there better riders to the giro and they never do anything in the giro which i was trying to imply to start with. Also look at colom in the paris nice he did well there. I think he could get a top 10 So he cant be that poor a rider like you are claiming. You know it and i know it that bougyues are not going to do anyhting in this tour apart from get in the odd breakaway where as flamina have caruso who is on good form and will be up there on mountain stage (i know not top3-5) but he will be mixing it with other riders for top 10-15 . Just look at the bouygues squad grrr |

Bouygues brings their biggest star Thomas Voeckler, plus Matthieu Sprick and Johan Tschoop which are decent climbers who could win a mountain stage by a break, and I wouldn't be surprised if one of theese three riders wins one of the many medium stages in the race.

Voeckler's there. Yes, they do quite a lot, it's just most people don't notice.
They're in almost every break. If bouygues weren't there I can guarantee you stages would be much more boring.

1 stage? seriously, is that all you're going to go with?

You're putting words in my mouth, I never claimed he was a poor rider.
If you have to pretend that I said something to make a point, it's time to review your point.

Wait, since when was this about Flaminia vs. Bouygues? You were badmouthing both teams, and I was defending them.

You said they "climbers" dont get me started on katusha and im pretty sure most people would say that colom is a decent climber. I was just saying flamina would get in instead of bouygues in my opinion but fuji deserve it with their better quality of riders (compared to flamina) I think cobo will suprise a few people. i hope so but i also dont as some people will obviously claim hes doped :9 we will see anyway only time will tell but i bet you during the giro someone will claim someone is doped. |
