EDIT: halfway up the climb Contador is much faster than Colom.
So, the overall will be
1. Contador
2. Colom
3. Sánchez
4. Evans

Quite. He was very very lucky with the weather.
He won all that time in the part that Sánchez, Evans and Colom did in the rain and he did when it wasn't raining. And that part includes several kms of the main climb.
After that, in the parts (including climbing) that they all did in the same conditions, he's losing time on all of them.

Well, what can you say? Impressive performance by Contador again. 7 victories so far this season. Now I guess he is soon taking a break so he can start preparing for the Tour.
Colom does really well too this season! I think the change to Katusha has been really great for him, because now he is a captain and can ride for his own chances. I'm looking forward to see him ride for a top-place in one of the Grand Tours this year.
Also it's nice that Euskaltel gets a podium spot with Samuel Sanchez. After all it's their home-region race

Hats off... great ride by Contador. He attacked hard on the only stage to make a difference and his TTing was spot on today.
Antonio Colom and his Katusha team fully deserve that podium spot. Sammy Sanchez slightly undercooked all week I feel but nethertheless a face saving 3rd place on podium for Euskutel.
Slightly surprised by Cadel Evans finishing off of the podium - though I guess this was more of a specialist course for the likes of the Sanchez, Colum and Cantador. Even so he finishes behind the likes of Rogers and Pinotti - I have been impressed by his more attacking climbing here in the Basque country and in Italy - but it looks like he is a little short on his TTing.
Cunego should be there or thereabouts in the upcoming hilly classics - lets hope we can see Gesink up there too. Pinotti and Rogers are right where Columbia would expect them to be.
Overall a more attritional week in the Basque country, rather than decisive. I guess it is usual that the TT is decisive but would have been nice to see one other BIG stage this week.
Once again credit to Contador - he had a slightly better team this week, though I think Katusha (understandably) helped Astana out quite a bit. |

What has Colom done this season that's so much better than previous years?
Podium at the basque country? He's done that before. 5th in Paris-Nice? He was 3rd a few years ago.
I don't see it. |

He's been noticed, thats what he's done. Yep, I agree. Maybe he hasn't done better YET in results, but the way he is riding looks stronger than before imo. |

The Plan is to do the Giro to get the 3 weeks legs and achieve top form for the Tour. I think its well planned because he hasn't done a GT for long time. |

Quite. And his best GT performance so far came when he did the same programme. |

Unless Mandri crash again, he has a history of kissing the Italian tamac a little to much from time to time
