Come on ocsar periero i hope he does better than valverde as i hate valverde becasue everyone was making him the next superstar and put way to much pressure on the lad. Oscar on the other hand very underated. 2 Top 10 in Paris at this rate keep it up. I like this as hard level is used to and it actually makes you not attack 2-3 times on a mountain and get away with it i think you are making all the rights ecisions waiting for astana to close down the gaps keep it up! |

Stage 14
The road begins to climb again today - perhaps this will be the day a break makes it all the way?
We get Karpets into the escape - but once again the pack increases the pace and begins to pull them back in the second half of the stage.
The lead is 8'30 with 80k to go, but with Columbia and Rabobank driving things the lead starts to come down quickly. At these speeds, the small climb close to the finish is likely to sort the men from the boys.
We move up to the front in the hope of causing a split in the high winds that are once again a feature of this stage.
Once again it doesn't happen, and the pack are up and over the top as a group. Down the other side, Oscar P. works his way to the front and as the road flattens out he launches himself off the front of the reduced pack.
I am up front too in the green and as the strongmen make their moves and try to chase Oscar down, I decide this is one finish that may suit me.
Oscar is under the 1k to go banner ahead, but he is fading badly. I have hit the front too early today perhaps...
Into the final 500 meters and O'Grady and Cancellara are trying to come around me. I think I am going to be denied today again...
At the line it probably could not be any closer and with the last of my energy I manage to hold off O'Grady and have another stage win to add to my collection.

Stage 15
Only a climber has a chance on a day like today. I do not think I will do anything though - my fitness and morale is good, but I have yet to have one of those days when you feel you can beat anyone in the world...
A very small break gets away and at the foot of the first climb, the first yellow jersey holder of this Tour decides enough is enough and climbs off his bike. Rojas is still young and we see no reason to ask him to ride over the Alps at this stage in his development.
Another fine young rider, Dan Martin leads the escapees over the top of the Col D'Agnel. They have a lead of nearly 8 minutes.
With CSC and Saunier riding hard at the front of the pack the lead is gradually reduced. 36k to go and the escapees have just over 4 minutes, which will not be enough on a day like today. At the foot of the final climb the escapees still have a minute or so, but the game is clearly up.
The attacks come thick and fast on the climb, but with Schleck and Sastre on the front, we play a waiting game.
Just over 6k to the summit, Kloden makes his move.
Sastre and Frank Schleck sit up for CSC and Andy takes off. Oscar and I try to follow, but my legs are heavy today. I have to dig very deep.
Just over 3k to the summit and I can see from Oscar's face, that he, like me is really struggling to hang on.
Into the final 2k and I try to match an acceleration from Kloden, who is trying to fight his way up to the leaders.
It is no good today - I do not have good feelings in my legs and others are stronger.
Kohl it is who surprises everyone by sneaking over the line first.

Stage 18
Here's Oscar in front with less than 20k to go with a decent lead after a rip roaring stage. We got him in the break and no-one helped Silence. Valverde is probably going to make it over the top with the other big guns. Game crashes soon after.
Similar situtation - this time bigger group, and Oscar should be easily able to match Gilbert. Valverde in better condition this time too and with smaller group of favourites. Game crashes a few k after first one.
And the third f'pking time - Valverde wins.
Then it crashes again so I just simmed the rest of the race and will be spending no more time on this.

Strange - as it only seems to be on certain stages that you get a crash. So, I guess it's something to do with the profiles, as the only crashes I've had were on one stage of P-N, LBL and this one.

I guess the fault lies with some of the stage profiles Divinity used for the races. The default Cyanide stage is different to the one I was racing on.... |
