Finally it looks like the spaniards are begining to really go hard into the fight against doping, and earlyer, this year many italians have been caught. For me it looks like that the south eorupean contries finaly have, found there way into the fight against doping.
you're way too optimistic. It won't happen. Not this soon at least. If they were serious they wouldn't withhold the blood bags and documents from Puerto as they've done. several investigations in Italy, Spain and Germany are all asking for the evidence but the spanish won't give it "for no reason at all".
of course we all know the reason. they don't want Contador, Valverde, etc. suspended.

Being optimistic is a good thing to be and I actually thought about the bloodbags while writing th post, but, let it be out, and yes first when they have delivered the bloodbags to CONI etc. they will, have taken the real step into the doping fight. But as we can see the mentality in Italy has chanced (I really hope). Isn't there something about that CAS, has a case going where CONI & co. are trying to go the legal way, so that they will get the bloodbags?

Yeah, CONI says they should know in January or so whether or not they'll have the bloodbags. They won't. The spanish authorities will just continue doing what they've done:
- alternatively either refusing to hand over the bags giving no reason for the refusal, or just flat out pretend they never got any requests for the bags.

Fuentes worked with several pro football teams, there were rumours about Spanish track & field athletes being involved, as well as a famous Spanish tennis player.
Solving and investing the Puerto case to the very bottom would harm Spanish sport way too much. That's why it's obvious the Spanish state has bribed its Justice department. |

hmmm, does it surprise anyone else that the four football teams are four of the best teams in Spain. And I'm sure everyone knows how good Nadal is....... |

Any athlete doing performances that lasts more than 40 secs, will benefit from high hematocrit. |

The longer the effort, the better.
Which is why you pick up the statements of so many of the best cyclists of the 90s where they say "I started doing EPO in year X", compare it with their results and the reaction is always "before that he was only good in prologues..."
It's also why you see certain riders doing so well in small races or flat/hilly races with a short climb at the end and then fade in big classics/mountains/long TTs.
And to top it off, those athletes then get the short end of the stick: "Gilbert can't handle the pressure of the big races" -> bullshit

Doubt it. I think it's a conditioning issue. He's hard to motivate, and right now he's not in shape.
Besides, Mountain TTs are longer than that. And are very very hard. You're going full out the whole way. For 25-something kms some times, like the mountain TT in Switzerland where he came second this year.
Also, Rujano's been tested positive before, so that says a lot about him.

Indeed so, cycling is perfect for high hct.
The EPO train started rolling seriously in 1991. Greg Lemond, who was a freak of nature with a VO2 max above 90, and allegedly in the form of his life, ended +10 mins back in le Tour |

today that "freak of nature" VO2Max would be inferior to more than half the professional riders' VO2Max....but surely it has nothing to do with doping
