Italy completely pwned by the Netherlands
We, with our horrible defense, but the best goalkeeper in the world, versus Italy, where Buffon got horrible owned once again by vd Sar |

You are not allowed to leave the field without the referee's permission. Panucci is because of that on the field and it is no offside.
Thus. I disagree |

He did not voluntarily leave the field. And that rule is only applied when a player voluntarily leaves the field.

no it doesn't. I just read the official writing of the rule. voluntary or not does not come into the equation. just like if you hack someone's legs off involuntarily, it's still a foul and a red card.

as you can see, a player who leaves the field without the referee's consent is considered to be standing on the touchline a the point closes to his position.

yup, "Going off the field of play may be considered to be part of a playing movement."
if this wasn't the case, there would be no need to defend. the goalie would just run outside the field and yell at the attacker "HA! you're offside now!"
