Hah, this is from the live ticker:
12:46 - Beppu’s day?
His former coach at amateur French club VC La Pomme in Marseille, Frederic Rostaing, is convinced Fumiyuki Beppu will attack in today’s stage. He told local newspaper La Provence : "After Thierry and Clement, it is his day to attack." Frenchmen Thierry Hupond and Clement Lhotellerie, who staged the longest breaks in this Paris-Nice, were team-mates with Beppu at VC La Pomme and are now in the same team as the Japanese rider: Skil-Shimano.
13:25 - Beppu abandons
Japan’s Fumiyuki Beppu (Skil Shimano) has given up.

That's pretty good, Smoothie. But why just 20 £? What did you bet on it? |

He's working pretty hard for Julich, so it doesn't look like that'll happen
I still don't understand why Rabobank decided to chase a breakaway that wasn't dangerous for the GC. All they did was blow up almost their entire team. If Rebellin or Nocentini attack, Gesink's by himself

Kuschinskiy has been amazing at picking the right break these past two years. He's in a break about 25% of stages he rides in
He never wins though

Which is kinda strange if you ask me. Chris seems to be much stronger than Julich if you're looking at the Mont Ventoux stage. But then again, with all the work Julich has done for this team over the years and the fact he is retiring, he deserves one last win. But I refuse to write off Sørensen still B)

If the break makes it, the final decision on the winner will be made on the flat, not on the climbs which are still a bit off from the finish line. So Julich is the more logical choice.
Especially when neither of them are in form.

I agree. Especially now that Gesink got dropped. They'll slow to let him back on, but he'll have wasted energy, so they'll lift the pace again when he's back to try and drop him. Which will doom the breakaway.

Now Sorensen attacks. If he stays away, great. If, as is most likely, he is caught again, everyone else will be tired except Julich. Who will have a chance to attack on the flat.
Predictable, but effective

Exactly but unfortuneately they don't have the gap needed to stay clear of the pack.

Gesink all alone
I hope Rebellin or Popovych can take some time back today, or will at least wear him out a bit for tomorrow |

Attacks all over the place and Gesink in trouble.
