Caruso, VDB, Geniez, Trofimov, Ulissi, Uran, Rogers, Konig, Nieve, Porte and Contador are the Non-Astana riders in that group |

To be fair, on paper they probably also have the best climbinb squad in this Giro. I like it as wel tho, would be sad to be without Aru, Nibbles etc. in the GTs |

Damiano Cunego confirmed better than Zakarin then I guess, since the Italian is still there for Nippo - Vini Fantini. Pretty good job by him considering some of the other riders who dropped off the group out of nowhere when Astana put the foot down.

Did they just take 2 minutes out of the leaders in just 7 km?

Betting it is probably Benat Intxausti and Ion Izagirre, but it would be a nice surprise if it is Igor Anton for a change.

Is Gilbert still in the Peloton? Seems some riders came back in the descent. |

Not sure what happened with Ruben Fernandez yesterday since he couldn't finish with the Maglia Rosa group but good to see he has bounced back today for Movistar. Looks like Movistar could be going all in for Ion Izagirre soon if Benat Intxausti is going to lose some serious time.

23km remaining with the gap back to the peloton down to a mere 2'45". Going to be touch and go depending on whether the breakaway want to ride or throw the stage away and if Astana tire and fall off the pace.
Given the team Astana have here, unlikely they'll tire significantly enough.
