This race is easily the weirdest I've ever seen. Even Oget is getting involved now . At least TVG is hanging on for his top 11. Pfft

Adrien Petit, or to give him his proper name, 'the fat bastard' didn't finish.

No gap Angry

With 20km to go Contador, Quintana, Froome, Valverde and Oget make a gap. Good representation for Movistar.

I liked the group. Too bad that the mountain wasn't cobbled

Yeah,again officials defending Froome.
And Contador being given same time as Quintana and giving Nibbles huge chunks of time. The gap between Conta and Nibali on this stage should be less today.Again officials defending Froome and Contador

@Cycleman: Don't you have a Top 10 GC goal in TdF? Grin Maybe that's why Meyer is doing so great.. (just kidding.)

However, props on your latest reports, the quality has been much better than in the beginning and like this we all can really enjoy the Tour, I think Wink

Don't think so. I know I have a stage win goal though, which Gerrans got on Stage 3.

Here it is. This will be the last opportunity for Chris Froome to take over Nairo Quintana in the GC. The Colombian looked like cracking yesterday, but it turned out to be a clever bluff. However, he was denied any time gap over Froome by the organisers. Let's watch this thrilling climax to one of history's closest Tours.

The Race

i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag38/Abbiati123/Album%20For%20Albums/EPIC%20Races/EPIC%202014/PCM0359_zpsf7f3da89.jpg
As we join the live coverage a break has already formed. In it are Spilak, Sorensen, Marczynski, Schleck, Muriel and Pinot.

i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag38/Abbiati123/Album%20For%20Albums/EPIC%20Races/EPIC%202014/PCM0360_zps86373508.jpg
The escapees managed to build up to a gap of 8'08 with 40.5km to go, and the peloton managed to cross the first climb without much trouble.

i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag38/Abbiati123/Album%20For%20Albums/EPIC%20Races/EPIC%202014/PCM0361_zps3d144382.jpg
Oh oh! Big news as Roman Kreuziger goes down and takes Andreas Kloden with him. The Czech is 9th in the GC, and this could give Przemyslaw Niemiec a chance to get back into the Top 10, as there are only 24km to go. Peter Sagan was the best of the peloton in the sprint.

i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag38/Abbiati123/Album%20For%20Albums/EPIC%20Races/EPIC%202014/PCM0362_zps630806a4.jpg
It looks like Saxo don't care much for Kreuziger. No-one goes back to help, as attacks come from the front. At the base of the climb it's Mollema, Quintana, Froome, Kwiatkowski, Rolland, Nibali, Contador and Horner.

i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag38/Abbiati123/Album%20For%20Albums/EPIC%20Races/EPIC%202014/PCM0363_zpsca61837c.jpg
This is big! Froome takes the lead, and things are really starting to heat up. With Rolland on his last legs it's up to Quintana to take control. Or, could it be another bluff?

i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag38/Abbiati123/Album%20For%20Albums/EPIC%20Races/EPIC%202014/PCM0364_zpsa0c3b500.jpg
Meanwhile, Niemiec has heard the news and goes on the attack with Valverde. The only main guys in the group behind are Meyer and Van Garderen.

i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag38/Abbiati123/Album%20For%20Albums/EPIC%20Races/EPIC%202014/PCM0365_zps0eda95df.jpg
Meanwhile at the front, Thibaut Pinot takes the lead with a big attack. Could FDJ finally have their stage win?

i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag38/Abbiati123/Album%20For%20Albums/EPIC%20Races/EPIC%202014/PCM0366_zpsd039b4ff.jpg
Meanwhile Froome has just kept going. Quintana can only watch as his Tour slips away. He'll really have to dig deep to save this one.

i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag38/Abbiati123/Album%20For%20Albums/EPIC%20Races/EPIC%202014/PCM0367_zps3b8c5127.jpg
With 6km left the others make the catch. It seems to be Froome against the world. Can he do it?

i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag38/Abbiati123/Album%20For%20Albums/EPIC%20Races/EPIC%202014/PCM0368_zpsc389958d.jpg
Van Garderen takes control behind. He isn't done yet.

i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag38/Abbiati123/Album%20For%20Albums/EPIC%20Races/EPIC%202014/PCM0369_zps141c535b.jpg
Meanwhile, Rogers is putting in a monster effort to try and get Kreuziger back. It would take something, but Meyer of all people could be out of the Top 10.

i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag38/Abbiati123/Album%20For%20Albums/EPIC%20Races/EPIC%202014/PCM0371_zpsf515ac62.jpg
Froome catches Sorensen, as Pinot enters the final stretch. It will be goal achieved for FDJ.

i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag38/Abbiati123/Album%20For%20Albums/EPIC%20Races/EPIC%202014/PCM0373_zpsdc08136e.jpg
Yep. A great attack from Thibaut Pinot will satisfy his manager, as FDJ have their stage win goal.

i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag38/Abbiati123/Album%20For%20Albums/EPIC%20Races/EPIC%202014/PCM0374_zps66a58dc2.jpg
Andy Schleck comes home in second, perhaps reminiscing of his former successes.

i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag38/Abbiati123/Album%20For%20Albums/EPIC%20Races/EPIC%202014/PCM0375_zps5da6beb1.jpg
But here's where the action is at! Chris Froome, against all odds, has dispatched of the other riders. He goes into the last kilometre alone.

i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag38/Abbiati123/Album%20For%20Albums/EPIC%20Races/EPIC%202014/PCM0376_zpsaa988a37.jpg
And crosses the line! He's done it! WOW!

i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag38/Abbiati123/Album%20For%20Albums/EPIC%20Races/EPIC%202014/PCM0377_zps511d0c6c.jpg
Nibali comes through next, as Quintana wonders how it all got away.

i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag38/Abbiati123/Album%20For%20Albums/EPIC%20Races/EPIC%202014/PCM0378_zpsadd309af.jpg
There's also a saga here. With Kreuziger back, and 10th in the GC at worst, Przemyslaw Niemiec needs 1'26 to overtake Cameron Meyer and get into the Top 10. With just a few hundred metres to go, he has 1'25. Could this be closer!?

i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag38/Abbiati123/Album%20For%20Albums/EPIC%20Races/EPIC%202014/PCM0380_zpse03fe0e3.jpg
It's like Diego Johnson and Cameron Meyer are teammates already! The current Astana man puts in a monster sprint, to reduce the gap to an unofficial 1'09, and keep Meyer in the Top 10. However, it won't be more than that. Roman Kreuziger has put in an amazing ride with Michael Rogers to keep 9th in the GC! Below are all rankings going into the final stage. As usual the time classifications are all but set in stone, but the extreme closeness in this Tour isn't reserved for the GC; the sprinters are still vying for the Green Jersey.

Gracias Alberto.

Nice try from Mollema, too bad everyone passed him in the end
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

F*cking finally! My god did we deserve a stage win at some point in this race, but why did the boys have to wait until the last real chance #relief

Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, and a big YES. Almost accepted that 2nd place in my mind, but finally Froome done it Wink

sutty68
Niemiec on the attack, you don't see that very often Smile

mvhoogdalem
Green jersey winner to be decided on the Champs... I don't like that at all. Pfft

SSJ2Luigi
12th and 17th in the final GC. not bad I guess, 2 stages are to my liking though Grin

(inb4 someone in the top 10 crashes and retires on the champs)

Not that it makes a big difference to the winner but the Youth standings are wrong. It's the wrong year so TVG, Meyer and Talansky aren't in there when they should be. Fairly big error.

Top 11 wrapped up but I have to be disappointed with Tejay's efforts. He's better than most of these riders he's finishing with.

Good point, I'll have to keep an eye on that with the PCM14 reports. Quintana should be safe indeed though Wink
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Nice try Andy, see, he still has it folks! Wink

That makes it three podium finishes for us now, not great for a team like RadioShack I suppose. We will look to do better at the next TDF, but that won't be until 2016 at the rate things have been going...

Maybe Horner can pull the rabbit out of the hat at the Vuelta.

What a worthless shit-race Angry

Nieve throwing the top 20 away today, not a single attack from an Euskaltel rider and a grand total of ONE stage top 10.
