That is fine at the line but that garbage of not being able to help and then attacking on the climb makes him look like a complete tool. Classic Valverde I guess.

I must say that I got really pissed with Majka today. I think he had what it took to win the stage, but he refused to work with König. I'd say it is reasonable for König to be mad. More than reasonable.
But if Majka goes on the attack tommorow, I think he has a valid explanation for outsprinting König for second, as he has a chance to win the mountain jersey.
But as of this moment, I did not know, what he was thinking. He had a serious chance to take a Tour stage win, and he simply refuse to work with König...

Valverde realised he is never going to beat Nibali and is now riding for second place. He is going to defend it in the way he does best, with a strong finish. He is NOT interested in more time, while Pinot still needs time to overtake Bardet. Why would Valverde help Pinot overtake Bardet?
Just look at the finish, Majka passed Konig easy. If he was helping Konig fron the start of their breakaway he could have won the stage. |

Did you mean From now on? also who cares what you do. Majka had absolute no reason to give 2nd to Konig.
Yes,he has no reason. But Majka wheelsucked all the way so we wanted König get 2nd and König deserved that 2nd place instead of Majka.

Actually, if he had helped König, he might have taken stage win. You know, two people are faster than just one setting pace.

Watch the race and stop complaining about Valverde in internet forums, Valverde did lots of pulls.
And by pulls you mean attacking when Pinot slowed down because Valverde wouldn't go in front?
Oh come on, it was more or less 50/50 on the way up, no reason to hate just for the sake of it. |

On a climb drafting does not help a great deal of much. I guess we'll never know, no one expected Majka to be there anyway. |

How do you know that was what happened? Valverde might have told him he did not WANT to help, as he knew at that time it was for second place now. Then Pinot could have slowed down or been angry with Valverde even though he should have just put time on Bardet. That would be a good reason for Valverde to attack. |

Strong by Nibali he is set to keep the jersey till Paris, Konig and Majka were extremely strong today especially Konig since he was pacing for most of the way, Valverde being a bit mean for not helping the future GT winning Pinot, Porte just not there today, Bardet and Van Garderen seemed strong today

Jeez, man... Pinot clearly braked his bike hard at that point because he didn't want to pull aynmore. Thus he lacked speed! So yeah, for Valverde that was of course the perfect moment to attack, no matter his lack of strength. You say Valverde doesn't pull because of 1-2,3 kilometers but all those kilometers before and afterwards where Valverde was at the front don't matter anymore?! And yes, he pulled afterwards too (at least I remember so). People probably call Valverde wheelsucker today anyway despite him showing lots of initiatve today...

That's just speculation. They clearly couldn't follow Nibali when he attacked. |

Valverde doesn't need to ride, with porte dropped he has second in the bag
@jacdk
the age of somebody is unrelated.
Most times i would agree Luigi but when they clearly show it by removing logic and just talking out of their sitting area, its not. |

Who knows what might have happened, one thing is sure though Nibali was untouchable and he wanted that win, so i dont think a less then 100% Majka and Konig could have kept Nibali behind him no matter what they did. |

What's the point here? Majka didn't relay because he was toast, did you notice how much he struggled when Nibali increased the pace? Majka sits in König's wheel in hope of getting in stage win contention and König relays because of his GC, and the fact he wouldn't give up on Nibali. Majka could contribute, otherwise surely, he would have done so.

100% agreed.
People dont like Froome, people dont like Valverde, some people hate Cav. Valverde was along with Pinot guys who wanted to put pressure down and attacked numerous times, yet he is getting hate for something which he shouldnt get. Great stage today by Valverde, chapeau. |

What people dont understand is that to relay on a climb you need to accelerate to overtake the guy in front of you and that destroys the rhythm. Some riders have no problems with it some have. Majka is not a rider for big accelerations and torn tempo. |
