It was a great race, until the crash of Sutil and Bianchi. I really hope that Bianchi is okay but it doesn't look good...

I keep getting the same feeling i got back in 2011 when watching IndyCar. That accident was a horrible freak occurence. Just hoping it's like most other nasty F1 accidents of recent years in that he will ultimately be ok. Really brings down what was otherwise a good race, just hope he's ok.
Focusing back on the race, and once it was underway it was great! Hamilton showing why he should be WC this season. Just pushed it right to the edge and could hold it there, and that pass on Roseburg was really incredible. Ricciardo was outstanding yet again with some terrific moves through the Esses. Button was great, really outperforming the car and making his usual brilliant calls in tricky conditions, he deserved to finish higher up. Williams keep moving forwards in their hunt for 3rd which is awesome. Also not a bad day for Sauber who made the most of what they had.

He's now in ICU. Still in critical, but stable. |

Bianchi can breath by himself after the surgery, which sounds 'good'.
I've just read that former Formula 1-driver Andrea de Cesares died at a motorcycle accident today at the age of 55. RIP. A black day for Formula One.

Slightly different angle and you wouldn't even have to call the ambulance anymore.

so we've boycotted the Russian Grand Prix
about the most recent race, in 'Merica actually not a bad race imo. kinda like the Tour excitement. for the lead is really boring (just one move all race ) but everything behind it was good. the fight between Button and Alonso was amazing to watch and so was the fight for 9th place was also amazing. the moves from Maldonado and the Red Bull/Toro Rosso guys were just great.

Yeah, we've boycotted them.
Great race indeed. I've really enjoyed it, although it was quite weird to see only 15 cars racing. Feel sorry for Sutil because I think he could've done something nice here. Was very surprised to see him in Q3 but one stupid kamikaze move from Pérez meant the end of the race, unfortunately. I was also surprised to see Vettel pit seven laps before the finish, but eventually he finished on the seventh place where he drove before the pitstop. Hoped to see Massa on the podium, his bad second pitstop destroyed that. It surprised me as well to see Ricciardo and Willies driving the pace of Mercedes before the last pitstop, the gap was only six seconds then. All by all I've enjoyed it. Hamilton really deserves the championship. I only hope that both he and Rosberg won't get mechanical problems now because that would be a real shame.

He won´t
If he is second in Interlagos and Abu Dhabi he wins the Championship... it´s easy...

The race was great. Plenty of action across the field for the duration, along with some great tactical plays and driving. Another highlight to add to a great season
Howerver.... Bernie could not be more relieved. Just when he needed an exciting race he gets one that distracts from potentially F1's biggest crisis in 20 years. Marussia and Caterham missed this race and odds are both will miss Brazil, and Caterham will almost certainly miss Abu Dhabi as well. And why?
Because the economcis of F1 don't work. It's no secret and no surprise yet the sport refuses to adress the problem. So now the three newest teams are out in less than 4 years and Haas defers it's entry to 2016 at best. Lotus continue to have financial troubles and if they repeat a season like this next year expect to see them go as well. Sauber are bordering on crisis as well and even Force India are worried. By 2016/17 the grid could seriously be down to 4/5 teams and that is unacceptable.
If Marussia and Caterham do dissapear from next season then Bernie gets his three car wish. But obviously not all teams will field three cars and this will compound the economic problems and the sport if f*cked.
Something needs to change and change now or the sport i've loved for over 10 years is going to die out.

TheManxMissile - That statement is oh so true, if they want the sport to survive something has to be done and quickly too |

I was a little surprised by McLaren's tactic this race, but well the strategy worked kinda, the final placement was just the only thing that didn't work. Hamilton has improved greatly this year and he just showed Rosberg by how much.
He has made some stupid decisions in the past and finally he has grown up and learned by his mistakes Rosberg is still my favorite driver ( After Magnussen of course ( I'm danish ^^) ) and he just have to man up in Abu Dhabi!
As for the economics, I don't see why the teams don't plan out ahead if something doesn't go right, like in Football a below average team miraculously manage to get the win the league and after that they spend all their money on new players, and next season those players don't perform as good as last season and you find yourself with no profit and it all starts again.
I do understand that their is another level of money included in this, but a Formula 1 car is the most expensive car in the world and when something goes wrong it will hurt a lot in the money wallet, but if you want to race with the most expensive cars in the world, you should commit!
It's not like that the sponsors gives small amounts to each team, hey Perez has the worlds most richest guy paying for his Formula 1 career and that should set things into a perspective of how big the sport is

But it's not that they arn't planning, they just don't have enough money to be competitive. If you're not competitive then you can't get sponsors. No sponsors, no money. No money can't be competitive. Not competitive can't get sponsors. No sponsors, no money.... You see the basic problem.
Except there is money in F1, it just doesn't reach the teams that really need it. Ferrari were given roughly £90mil just to take part in the 2014 season. Caterhams whole budget for the season is ~£40mil.
I don't have an issue with the performance payouts, if you win then you deserve a reward. The problem is the non-performance money, the "little" extras Bernie pays out to the big teams, the "little" extras he keeps for himself.
There is more than enough money flowing around the F1 system to have 12 two car teams each season, the money is just flowing to the wrong places. The rich get richer, the big get bigger and those at the bottom are litteraly starved to death.
(granted some of the issue with Caterham stems beyond the sport to the overarching company but the point still applies)

also Sauber has signed money for next season while Sutil has a contract for next year and the management of Giedo van de Garde says that they have a contract for next season as well. guess who's going to get the reserve driver job
did I say money, I meant Ericsson

The teams decide about the money, so obviously it will never change.
Why would/should the rich teams give part of their money to the weaker teams? Each struggling team increases the chances of points for the other teams.
And if the F1 cannot bring enough teams to the races, Bernie has to pay the fine, not the teams.
Eventually the audience will understand and watch other race series. But people are just too stupid. Bianchi worse than dead, people continue to cheer. Teams abandon, people continue to cheer. Riders paying to drive in the F1, people continue to cheer. |

And this is how the world works too. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer.
