TOTC 5: Completed
tmr96
Damn, Cummings lost time, hopefully he can win the time back in the next stage. It's one of his specialties Wink

Well, when I read that Serpa got dropped I expected the worse but his time loss is kinda okay. Good job team!

I was thinking we could make up a TOTC squad.

Around 30 of the best performers from all of the TOTCs combined.

Who would you have?
(Keep it real so it has the feel of a WT team, ie most riders would be 'pot 2' riders)

I made a carreer from my previous TOTC squads, didn't get far though Wink

But all together, well Sanchez and Gadret are obvious options.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

I know my constant Lemoine fan-wanking gets a bit ridiculous, but obviously... well, Lemoine. I'd have to think about other riders though.

Fischer and Nys have staked their claim, and Murayev might deserve a spot after his performance in the last one.

Of course those lot would make it and Muravyev. If I were to make a team it would be only from TOTC 1, TOTC 2 & TOTC5.
TOTC3 and TOTC4 had their obvious problems in addition to the fact that one didn't have any in the white jersey competition. So no Gadret and Muravyev. Would like to add Noval/ O'Grady but some have retired.

I could even turn it in to a story. Where we are at Pro Tour level. Three of the best teams from the whole of TOTC (Aer Lingus is a gimme) could operate as 'feeder' teams on the continental level.

You can find the results from TOTC 1: HERE

Current Squad Ideas:
GC Leader: S Spilak
Mountain Goat: J D Atapuma
Mountain Goat: S Szymd
Mountain Goat: K Elissonde
Lead Sprint: S Hinault
Lead Sprint 2: J Dean
- Muravyev
- Lemoine
- Nys
- Durbridge
- Fischer
- Veikkanen
- J Sagan
- D Schorn
- S Rosseler
- A Hansen
- J Ghyselinck
- M Russom
- D Pate
- V Jerome
- G Mizbani

Recommend more! But they have to have made a big impact in TOTC, like those above. Wink

Taylor Phinney is also a good choose for this list. He won 3 stages and the green jersey in the first TOTC.

STAGE 15: Les Herbiers 48 KM

Stage Favourites:
*****Grabsch(MOT) ****Sergent(SMA) ***Gruzdev(IBA)
**Dowsett(MOT) *Quinziato(AVI)

Here it is a massive flat TT. We have checkpoints with 38 KM to go and 10 KM to go along the way.

i855.photobucket.com/albums/ab115/riderrunrider/1_zpsbfec7d68.jpg

Alcyon start us off as they have the latern rouge.

Alcyon have three riders in the bottom five and would not challenge for victory today.

i855.photobucket.com/albums/ab115/riderrunrider/2_zpse9d6b0f5.jpg

Sam Bewley sets the first decent time of the day.

He sets times of 14'45, 56'39 and finishes at 1'12'14. This is faster 1'00 faster than Roels. Would this challenge for the win? NO! Chertnetskiy would soon top this time.

i855.photobucket.com/albums/ab115/riderrunrider/3_zps77c3438b.jpg

Veelers passes Ardilla.

i855.photobucket.com/albums/ab115/riderrunrider/4_zpsf7f13408.jpg

Mota-Engil unleash the dogs of war! Dowsett and Malori are out on course.

Dowsett is '1 down on Bewley at the first checkpoint .... but finishes much faster at 1'11'23.

Then teammate Malori ..... is highest at all checkpoints on the way to a top time of 1'11'13.

i855.photobucket.com/albums/ab115/riderrunrider/5_zpse4d4ead3.jpg

The Hardened Irish Veteran!

McCann, to no ones surprise, puts in a solid well measured TT effort. He finishes at 1'11'22 on the day ..... as we have news of Sergent (14'40) going fastest at the first checkpoint by '4 over Malori.

i855.photobucket.com/albums/ab115/riderrunrider/6_zps12131360.jpg

Sergent sets the new fastest time!

The Kiwi specialist rides one fine TT. He is the first rider to finish under 1'11'00. He finishes at 1'10'50.

i855.photobucket.com/albums/ab115/riderrunrider/7_zps72b318a5.jpg

Mota-Engil are not finished!

The stage favourite Grabsch is off the ramp and today he is at his big gear crunching best. He goes fastest at the first checkpoint by '11, he sets a time of 14'29.

i855.photobucket.com/albums/ab115/riderrunrider/8_zps8c96ef72.jpg

Mizbani sets off which signifies only 49 riders will start behind him.

The standings at this stage:
Sergent
Malori @ '22
McCann @ '31
Dowsett @ '32
Vogondy @ '58

But the standings soon change. Grabsch steamrolls his way right to the finish and sets a time of 1'10'25. I THINK WE HAVE A WINNER!

But Keizer, Bodnar, Vermote and Hansen are soon off the start ramp and all post first split times in the 14'30s, so the race is not over yet.

i855.photobucket.com/albums/ab115/riderrunrider/9_zps65c30224.jpg

Paulinho sets off, only 9 riders will follow him off the ramp.

His teammate, Hansen, puts in a super time of 1'11'11 to go third. What a performance! Now all attention goes to the GC men. Grabsch has the stage win in the bag.

i855.photobucket.com/albums/ab115/riderrunrider/10_zpsff197c65.jpg

Cummings leads the GC men!

Key GC top 10 times at the first split:
Cummings 14'40
Paulinho @ '5
Koren @ '7
Clarke @ '12
Tschopp @ '13
Szymd @ '18

i855.photobucket.com/albums/ab115/riderrunrider/11_zps5fac5ecb.jpg

Szymd ain't a man for the flat .... but he is really holding his own on the TT bike. He is losing some time to all of the GC contenders, but not as much as some would like.

Key GC men times at second checkpoint:
Cummings 55'59
Paulinho @ '19
Koren @ '23
de Weert @ '23
Tschopp @ '57
Szymd @ 1'15

Cummings is set for a great time on the day whilst Tschopp is putting is some time to the red jersey.

i855.photobucket.com/albums/ab115/riderrunrider/12_zps07f325ed.jpg

Mota-Engil take the stage!

The stage favourite delivers in emphatic style today. Mota-Engil justify their team of TT tanks today with over 50 UC points. Another quality TT team, SmarTone, have to settle for a very respectable second place. Hansen rides a great stage for T-Mobile and rounds off the podium.

THE GC .... Szymd rides a top 60 on the day. He does lose some time. Tschopp reduces the gap to 1st to under 1'00 and Cummings puts some time into everyone with his 4th place result. Paulinho moves up one place on the day, a scant consolation. The Portuguese rider should have expected a much higher result, as of yet he is not delivering for T-Mobile. Sella, however, is the biggest loser in the top 10 today.

"only" 19th seems extremely disappointing after the last 3 stages but considering what we're like in TT's it's probably a good result fot the team. Hopefully we can return to form tomorrow with another breakaway win.

Solid ride from Simon, I may have missed him, but was Gadret or Sammy Sanchez on that list?

Woah, some big point gap by now on Atlantius and his infamous T-Mobile squadron. Cartoon Network needs some jolly wins fast now. Frown Rosseler 11th is great though, although I got ahead of myself and excecpted things from him (after the fantastic prologue) he couldn't perform. Hopefully he will get the chance to win one of the remaining (cobbles) stages.

Was expecting some more time back on Szmyd indeed. I guess it's the yellow jersey bonus that keeps saving him..
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.
