He used to be 79, but has started decreasing.
Schwarz had 78MO, 84HILL and 79 TT when he retired... sometimes I absolutely hate the idiotic programming in this game.

Yet another battle in the Tour
This writer made a prediction a while back, that we were about to witness one of the greatest cycling-duos of all time. Judge for yourself whether that is correct or not, but this is the year that the short-lived era ended. Peter Helbig made this his last season, and with Schwarz having already left us, the duo called it a day.
Someone who is still going strong is Józef Kaminski who continues to break barriers. Stepping into the limelight about the same time as Helbig, he is showing no signs of ending his career anytime soon. After picking up his fair share of wins in the spring races, this time he really outdid himself. By winning Amstel, Fleche Wallonie and L-B-L all in the same season, he is the first rider since Philipe Gilbert to take the "Ardennes triple". Incidentally, Yannik Gruber came in 2nd place in all the three races, so that's sort of a record for him.
Shane Scott failed to win his 6th Giro d'Italia as Great Britain got the 1-2 with Ellis and McIntyre. McIntyre is perhaps the best climber around, but he's still young and is still lacking that "little something" that comes with age, but it probably won't be long before he takes the top spot.
With Schwarz being out of the picture, the stage was set for an epic fight between Kaminski and Gruber over who would win their first Tour de France. In the end, after some spectacular racing, Gruber came out on top. This was incidentally the 4th green jersey for a French rider in a row.
Rolando Bechara didn't do too much of himself earlier this season, but came like a cannon ball late on. Aswell as winning the Vuelta ahead of pre-race favourite Gruber, he also came just behind Kaminski in the World Championships. It was enough to give him the 3rd place in the CQ-ranking, but miles behind Gruber and Kaminski. In fact, he finished more than 2000 points behind the duo who both got over 4000 points, which just goes to show how much these two are dominating cycling at the moment.

I'll be planning on uploading team rosters in 2040, I think. I'll be giving you a full list of stats in a matter of days, since it's been a while.
In the meantime, enjoy the list of GT-, Monument- and WC-winners!
PS: Take care to notice a few things; France has as many GT-wins as Hungary(!!!!), only three nations have won all monuments and the USA in the WC; what the hell?

I think we can blame Phinney for that

Is this database plagued by the same sponsor over taking multiple teams as in the 1st edition?
* Nice to see the seasons advancing pretty quickly. |

It's not plagued by the same problems, no, so cudos to whoever is responsible.
Let's just hope it won't be a problem since I can't access the save in the editor anymore.

A familiar place for one man
A flurry of phenomenal riders decided to make thsis their last year in the saddle. Alex Souchon, Chadli Antar, Arkaitz Arana and the prolific Isroil Khamidullaev hung up their wheels this year. Khamidullaev in particular have left a lasting legacy and is hailed as Uzbekistan's finest cyclist off all time.
Even though Kaminski did win Fleche Wallonie for a record breaking 4th time aswell as other races, it certainly wasn't with the same spring in his step. The same can be said for Yannik Gruber who's only major win early on was Vuelta Ciclista a Catalunya. In their wake, João Barros stood out. He, despite several fantastic results, has been in the shadow of the two mentioned riders and had he been born in any other time than now, he would probably have stood out alone.
Britain failed to live up to last years 1-2 in the Giro when McIntyre crashed out leaving the table set for Colombia to take yet another GT-win. Even though Kaminski and Gruber didn't have the same tenacity as earlier, they hit back hard in the later races. Gruber won the Tour for a second time in a row, but competition was fierce. Kaminski also came out on top in the Vuelta, winning his 3rd title. It should be mentioned, though, the competition was relatively weak compared to earlier editions.
As well as winning the Vuelta and coming 2nd in the world championship, Kaminski took his third Lombardia, proving that he is still a force to be reckoned with. Kaminski, Barros and Gruber are arguably three of the best classic- and stage race specialists we have ever seen, but with the Kaminski and Barros being 32 and Gruber 33, we might wonder when we will start seeing some new prospects arrive.

Great, for me, to see so many different nationalities in the top 10 of each GT.
Though the Italians won't be so happy with that year, probably the worst in history for them. The tifosi will be rioting everywhere! |

Is DZA Algeria? also Studer had a decent year, getting 4th at the Grio, and taking the youth jersey and winning Suisse.

Yeah, DZA is Algeria (haven't figured out why, though).
We're fast approaching the previous "record" set by my former story, 2037. I haven't had any of the problems I experienced with the 2011-edition, except for the fact that I can't access the sponsor-tab, nor can I open the save in Lachis editor.
This causes one minor problem for me; for some reason I set my sponsor contract to expire in 2040. I'm sort of dependt on getting into an editor to prolong it, or else I'll find out what happens when your sponsor leaves and you can search for a new one.

What were Khamidullaev's best results? Just wondering if he was better than Abdoujaparov.
Also, Edumondo Portugal is an excellent name for a Portugese rider.

DZA derives from the Algerian name for it's country, which is "Al-Jazair" or "Al-Djazair". Other examples for a country code which doesn't derive from it's english version of the name would be "NED" for the Netherlands (should be "NET" ) , "ESP" for Spain, "ISL" for Iceland or "MAR" for Morocco. You can't imagine how complicated this can be.
But back to the project: what are the stats of that japanese guy who became 6th in Giro? And are the stats of the top 10 of a GT at least a little bit realistic (e.g. no Degenkolbs or Sagans on top 10)?
EDIT: I guess I shall concentrate before posting. I made more spelling mistakes in this post than Chavanel attacked in this years P-N.

One minor flaw which I just noticed; the rider in 6th place in the Vuelta is from Belarus, not Belgium. It's supposed to be BLR, a minor brain fart from me.
I'll give you a pretty comprehensive update on stats, riders, etc. since I have to take a small break while I try to find a solution to my editor-problems.
This is now the time to ask me about riders, palmares, non-WT races, etc.
