Things are going great for him.
Hope the usual pressure of the French fams when a youngster starts performing like this doesn't get to him as it has so many others in the last decade...

Atlantius - I don't think it'll get to him. Let's hope not. He should just listen to Radio B and all will be fine
duxili - Oh no, I don't want to wear that continental jersey Thanks, hope it changed... |

Shonak - Thanks a lot! Now he definitely made his name, I think!
Jesleyh - I agree! Especially at his age
Daggen - How do you mean, fast? If you mean at the age of 21, you're right, though Bouhanni did exactly the same in 2012
baia - Hmm... I'd pick option n°2. thanks!
sutty68 - Definitely! anderspcm is making the graphical stuff right now, so it'll be awesome |

Night of the Champagne - Part II "Hell, yeah!" I answered. " I went to change so I took off my jersey. When I was holding my new, tricolore jersey, it sunk in.
This felt better than winning the title with Everton, much better.
"Listen, guys, I need to be back here by 10, though."
I briefly explained the situation, but it was no problem. We would go out to celebrate and return on time. Everyone was pretty tired anyhow. Nothing would ruin this beautiful night! Or so I thought...
Hey everyone!
Last time we saw how I outsprinted Chavanel to the French Road Race title, achieving my single greatest result ever! Now let's take a look at some other champions and some reactions from the peloton!
National Championships - Aftermath
Hello, everyone. Radio B at the scene of the crime, we just witnessed some history here. After 21 year old Bouhanni last year, we have another young winner at the French Road Race! And there are those that say French cycling has no future? Oh wait, that were we...
Henry Vergnaud, congratulations, a first impression?
Oh, I'm just overwhelmed. I don't know what just happened here.
Take us through the last kilometers, if you will.
Well, I had a plan to attack in the final lap, but when Chavanel went, I had a feeling I needed to get on that action! We managed to stay clear of the peloton, thanks to the perfect work of my team mates, sabotaging the chase!
So then you catch the breakaway group and you all work together. How did you see your chances at that time?
Not an easy question. At that time I wasn't really thinking at all, I was just riding for my life. Around 2 kilometers before the finish, I skipped a turn in the relay and started preparing for a sprint.
It looked pretty bad there for a second, but you made it, in a thrilling group sprint. Now, what do you think this jersey will do for you?
I haven't even begin to think about that. I just want to enjoy the moment right now.
Unfortunately we won't be seeing your jersey in the Tour, but where will be see it?
I hope to show it in the Vuelta later this season. And, of course, next season we hope to get into Paris - Nice!
The first reactions are already coming in, mainly through twitter. Marco Pinotti lets the world know he is "real happy for Henry, he deserves it more than anyone". Personal Coach Lucien Van Impe congratulated the new champion with the words: "Henry, congratulations. One of the many, I'm sure. Exciting race and perfect riding today. Proud of all my boys!"
Keep tuned for more reactions. We're taking a break for commercials. Until then, this is Radio B, the wildest station on the air!
Wow, I've never known Radio B to be so serious. I guess the National Championships are a big thing, even to them.
I have nothing to add to the interview. So far I'm still enjoying it. I'm also enjoying a small break from racing. I'm in full preparations for the Vuelta now. Warren and I are even going down to Spain and do some recon while the Tour de France is still going on. It'll be awesome reconning the stages in my new jersey!
Time to look at some other champions!
| Road Race | Time Trial | | Roelandts | De Gendt | | Lindeman | Westra | | Greipel | Martin | | Vergnaud | Chavanel | | Contador | Castroviejo | | Oss | Boaro | | Downing | Froome | | Phinney | Talansky | | Uran | Uran |
Unfortunately Citigroup didn't succeed in getting a jersey, except for me, of course!
Well, that's it for now. Thank you all for your support!
Henry |

I had planned to race a few stages tonight, but I really want to work on Writer's Block after getting response from the interview recently.
Tomorrow is a day for the family. So I hope to bring the next update by Wednesday. Sorry for the short delay, but it's the Holidays, I don't think anyone is waiting for the next update that eagerly |

Night of the Champagne - Part III So the four of us went out to party. We found a bar and ordered some champagne. We're still professional cyclists, so only two glasses, maximum.
I had some problems keeping the champagne down and I started feeling extremely sick. I just had to get out right away!
I stormed to the bathroom and pucked my guts out. What a way to spend my National Title!
Hi!
Some more news for you, as also my first race as a National Champion!
While our talentful team keeps developing itself, the team has signed two big names for the next season. Without further ado, I present my future team mates:
Wout Poels
Zdenek Stybar
Both will play a crucial role in the Classics for next year, where we hope/expect to appear at the start line.
On the 14th of July, I was just minding my own business. But when I returned from training, I discovered there was a surprise party being planned for me!
I acted like I didn't found out and acted real surprised when they all jumped up that same night. The reason for the party was threefold:
1. It was my birth day
2. It was the French National Holiday
3. I'm the current National Champion
It was an amazing party, but I went to bed at 22h. Had training the following day. The life of a cyclist...
The Tour de France
The Tour has been raced. One year, only 8 famous seconds separated the winner from the "loser". This edition was a bit different, with Froome winning with almost 10 minutes to spare.
Top 10
1. Froome
2. Rodriguez
3. De Gendt
4. Costa
5. Contador
6. Van Den Broeck
7. Porte
8. Scarponi
9. Andy Schleck
10. Henao
Points Classification Winner
André Greipel
Mountain Classification Winner
Sandy Casar
Young Rider Winner
Nairo Quintana
Team Classification Winner
Team Sky
La Poly Normande My first race after the National Championship. However, to see my jersey in action for the first time, you'll have to wait for stage 2 of the Vuelta! (the first is a team time trial). This profile is suited to my abilities and I'm motivated to show my new... helmet!
The Race Our team's designer, anderspcm, has made me a beautiful helmet and frame. Of course, he also made me a jersey, but I won't wear that here today. No worry, I'm proud of this leader's jersey, too!
I didn't want to wait for the sprint, so I attacked out of the peloton with 4 kilometers left!
I was dying in the final kilometer, but I did it! The peloton didn't come closer. Though I have to say, something very weird was going on. I'll tell you about it momentarily.
Also look at Silvio (Herklotz), how happy he was for me!

Analysis & Daily Thoughts This victory has been another great day. This season has been nothing but fantastic experiences. I hope I can keep this going into the Vuelta!
But now for that strange moment in the race, let me tell you about it. So Europcar was riding hard at the front. When I attacked, I noticed the pace dropped, extremely. After the race, I talked to some people and what it came down to is that none of the French teams wanted to ride after me. That jersey might do more than I ever expected it to do.
Was it out of respect for me, for the jersey, or a coincidence?
Meh, I won't crack my head over it.
I'll see you at my final preparation for the Vuelta: Tour of Utah!
Henry

Nice signings, but I hope no one spiked his drink or anything, he might miss the Vuelta. Not a particularly good Tour for excitement it seems, also never heard of Mr Porte Scarponi? Which one came 7th? Or did they tie, in which case, the next person is 9th, surely?
To end on a good note, great race, and let's hope the jersey inspired form continues. |
