Pity there will not be any champion inside the team , but good result... maybe next year..
Tour squad looks good and capable to bring some good results for the team, good luck there.

baia - Next year we will definitely go 100% for a national champion
welker3257 - Bakelants has 77 MO and 77 HILL. Raced a great giro on his part!
sutty68 - Yeah, disappointing to get 2nd and 3rd but not 1st
krisa - Indeed. Two strongest Germans so far, too! Thanks!
I was thinking of doing the Tour de France a bit more detailed, I don't know if you're interested in that? Either way, I'd start with the first stage tomorrow morning, possibly even tonight! |

Shame, the team was so close to the NC win, being second & third. (though with a time-gap).
Also, Ian, did you just give away someone's stats? But, but...
And yes, detailed TdF sounds good

It's a shame that the team came so close,
baseballlover312, 06-03-14 : "Nuke Moscow...Don't worry Russia, we've got plenty of love to go around your cities"
Sarah Palin, 08-03-14 (CPAC, on Russian aggression) : "The only thing that stops a bad guy with a nuke is a good guy with a nuke"
Big thanks to jdog for making this AMAZING userbar!

sutty68 - All right, will do
Jesleyh - Whose stats? I deny everything! Yeah, Too bad Roelandts was there!
547984 - Indeed. Well, next year the profile will be flat and we have a fighting chance with our sprinters
Thanks for commenting! Turns out I have a deadline for work about tomorrow, so I might not get TDF done after all today. I'll see, but need to get this done first before I play PCM, sorry |

Appreciate the effort Thanks!
As expected, I had no time today. Got rehearsal in a few moments so Tour de France stage 1 will be for tomorrow |

Well, it's doomed. I tried loading stage 1 of the Tour but after 10 minutes of waiting, I gave up. I'll let my computer rest of today and try again tomorrow (first I want to finish my work, can't afford to let computer crash before I send it in!)
I don't know what could be the problem, though. My graphics card is really big and not so old, but the rest of my computer is almost 10 years old, so it might be the RAM and the age combined? I don't know. |

Sounds like you will have to sim the stage, maybe the stage is slightly bugged.
But no big deal mate, as you know when doing a story, the team performance in the long run is the main thing, not one stage which may be bugged. |

sutty68 - Marvelous invention, but far from perfected
The Rider - Thanks for the pep talk However, I managed to get it working! It lagged the entire race but after 1 and a half hour, I completed the stage |

Welcome in the Tour de France!
It's a real exciting time for this Scotsman, like. First time in the Tour. As a rider, I never was good enough to be in the team selection. Sad tale and all.
Anyway, first stage here was unique, it was a chance for sprinters to grab the Maillot Jaune, an uncommon thing nowadays! Our hope was Rik Steenacker, who is our main sprinter for the first week.
Kris Boeckmans brought him perfectly.
But the natural talent of Rik caught my eye the most. The first time he's in a Grand Tour, and then the Tour de France, and he is right up there. He didn't let himself get boxed in, he fought for a good wheel and that proves his natural ability to sprint and to prepare for that sprint. 20 years old. With Van Poppel, he's the youngest rider in the race.
He didn't get further than a 12th place in this first stage, though. Cavendish realizes his dream and grabs yellow!
Result
1 | Mark Cavendish | Omega Pharma-Quick-Step Cycling Team | 4h39'48 | 2 | André Greipel | Lotto Belisol | s.t. | 3 | Marcel Kittel | Team Argos-Shimano | s.t. | 4 | Alexander Kristoff | Katusha Team | s.t. | 5 | Nacer Bouhanni | FDJ | s.t. | 6 | Gert Steegmans | Omega Pharma-Quick-Step Cycling Team | s.t. | 7 | John Degenkolb | Team Argos-Shimano | s.t. | 8 | Daniele Bennati | Team Saxo-Tinkoff | s.t. | 9 | Arnaud Démare | FDJ | s.t. | 10 | Elia Viviani | Cannondale Pro Cycling | s.t. | 11 | Edvald Boasson Hagen | Sky Pro Cycling | s.t. | 12 | Rik Steenacker | Citigroup Pro Cycling Team | s.t. |
Tomorrow is hillier, but I think Rik can survive the hills and sprint for a podium there!
After today's stage, however, I asked him to come around my room.
"How are yeh doing?" and all that, I asked of him.
"It's tough. The peloton is nervous and the pace is so high".
"Aye, jist hang in their, yeh're doing bloody brilliant, lad."
"What's tomorrow's plan?"
"Yeh've goat tea sprint, like. Yeh'll git over the hill okay, ken? Hang on, and sprint. That's all."
He thanked me for the good advice and went to sleep.
We'll see what tomorrow brings...

It's pretty late but here's my report of the race, since I can't sleep anyway!
The circus called the Tour is well under way. Today the riders left Bastia with Cavendish in yellow.
Let's go immediately to the sprint. Rik did an amazing job on the hills of the day. He didn't waste any energy and he managed to get right to the front for the sprint.
Boasson Hagen had started the sprint early, too early. Rik had started less explosive but was coming around now!
When Boasson Hagen dropped his pace altogether, Rik came to the front and was sprinting in first position! By this time, I was yelling my vocal chords raw.
Sagan was coming quickly, so very quickly!
Rik was sprinting for his life. I was just yelling my lungs out, he probably didn't understand what I was saying and he must be deaf, but I kept yelling!
"Bloody Sagan, bloody, bloody, bloody Sagan, stay away, YES!"
Oh, so close! But the right side of closeness! Rik Steenacker wins his first World Tour race and it's a stage in the Tour, this is unbelievable!
Maxime Monfort happy for the young sprinter

Won't you look at this? It's a frikkin' double! A 20 year old boy in Yellow, isn't that some kind of record or something? He's also the youngest on the podium since the second World War.
Flash Interview:
We're with today's winner, Rik Steenkar from Citigroup. He's looking terribly calm. Rik, you conquered the Maillot Jaune.
Yes, it's... unreal. I just can't believe it.
You better start believing. You're the youngest stage winner in the Tour since the second World War. Did you plan this, coming here?
Well, I had never won a World Tour race, so I especially didn't expect to win a stage of this caliber. But I guess anything can happen, you just need a lot of luck.
Tomorrow you'll be wearing the Maillot Jaune. What will this do for your career?
Wow, I really haven't thought about that, yet. It's all so much right now. Today's sprint just proves I'm doing well and I want to continue to do so.
Steenkar is now being prepped for the podium.
Well, I guess that interview doesn't give you much. Firstly, that interviewer is a total dumbass. I mean, Rik Steenkar? He just won a Tour stage, at least go through the trouble of checking his name properly. Secondly, what kind of questions are those to ask someone who just changed his life?
Also, Rik is still very shy. Though I think he did well. By winning a stage and conquering yellow, I guess he'll get plenty of practice in talking to the media, whether he likes it or not!
So we celebrated, obviously. Rik didn't drink any alcohol, though, and went to sleep pretty early. But I cracked a few bottles of champagne and groped a waitress. All in all, it was a perfect day!
