@baia/Mig: Thanks, guys! Glad you liked this recap
@TeamSky: Budget did not only had the most individual wins (6 out of 14 races), but also won the team's rankings quite dominating. So yeah, a lot of wins.
@all: Here's the very last report/article for the 2013 season! Of course it has to be a short summary of Van der Ploeg's title-campaign. I will then introduce some ideas for the the next season, which is likely to happen.
NEIL VAN DER PLOEG TALKS ABOUT HIS FIRST NRS-TITLE
After finishing 6th in the NRS 2012, Neil Van der Ploeg's main goal was to make the Top-5 this year. Things went well right from the start of the season, including a 2nd place in the National Herald Sun Tour behind his brother Paul: "Definitely one of the best moments we had this season! I lost the GC-win by 2 seconds only and battling against your brother feels always weird.. but it's also kinda special in a good way!"
Van der Ploeg was found in the Top-5/10 of the NRS the whole season long, but for a couple of races it looked like he wouldn't be a title-contender: "I felt fine with the situation, you know. Other guys made the big news - like O'Brien, Haig or Semple earlier in the season - but I never lost contact!"
The second half of the season would become Neil's breakthrough, eventually. He took out both the first tiered National Capital Tour and the Launceston to New Norfolk Classic: "This two wins were simply awesome! Especially the Capital Tour, featuring a tough mountain-top finish, was quite a surprise, even to me!"
In the final events of the season - the one day classics - Van der Ploeg added several Top-10 finishes in both the hilly and the flat races, defending his comfortable lead easily: "You know what? I never ever imagined a season like that. But it did happen! I have to say thank you to my whole team. Let's not forget, that an individual title ain't possible without such a great support!"

Vdp rules. I want him on the MG next season.
Curious to see what's going to happen in 2014. |

Nice...
I think Capital Tour and Norfolk Classic were the main reason why VDP won the title....
Can´t wait for 2014...

Sad to see the different categories go... added some unexpected excitement to the season with Davison suddenly being in the mix for the NRS-Title again with his great performance in the Mersey Valley Tour... Id love to see them return

That's true! Actually, i'm not quite sure if i will change it. They removed the categories irl, but you're right about the mentioned case! On the other hand, i may consider this change to make for a whole different season, which might be interesting as well thanks for the Input!
@baia: definitely agree about the decisive races for VdP!
@Mig: i still didn't vote for VdP being added to the MG

So, I wanted to share some possible ideas for a next season. Actually, it's three of them, with the last not really being made for a next season I will appreciate every kind of feedback for this ideas and if some of you may prefer the first one, please let me know, if you would consider joining!
Idea #1 - Running a ManGame This is my favorite idea, even though it will take quite a time to make it possible. The idea is simple: get a few members joining this NRS as Managers of a team. I would at least try to get 10 members involved.. it wouldn't be a too complicated system, but you would be able to do some pre-season stuff like signing new contracts, free agents, transfers and also doing some race-planning.
Pro/ A chance to get more followers and a closer connection to the teams
Contra/ It will take some time before the needed stuff is done Idea #2 - Simply continue.. Easy: I will continue the story the way I ran the first season. So you will "just" follow as interested members and I'll coverage the 2014 campaign of the NRS like I did in the last couple of months. Of course with some DB-changes to keep it realistic.
Pro/ Less work for me. Same joy for you.
Contra/ Except of missing a chance to get new followers - none. Idea #3 - Stop the NRS! To be honest (#1): not my favorite idea! But to be honest (#2): even though I really appreciate the great support I got for this story, I would have preferred some more followers at some points of the season. I'm not the kind of person, who needs 5-10 comments per update, but of course it's sometimes a bit "meeeh" to receive only a single comment on a report, on which I spent an hour or something.
Pro/ More time for myself.
Contra/ No more NRS on PCMDaily..

Idea #1: It would probably guarantee 10-15 regular followers and commenters, but after that not really anymore. It's like most other of the games here, if you aren't in it, you don't read it, plain and simple.
Idea #2: My favorite. The 2013 season was amazing to read and was just really really really good. Make some DB changes (stats, transfers, whatever) to make it feel like a new 2014 season.
Idea #3: HOW DARE YOU EVEN THINK SUCH A HORRIBLE THOUGHT!!!!!
And i really loved the basis on the Man-Game DB. I think it could be good to build that aspect up a bit more (or at least talk about it a bit more) as it adds yet more uniqueness to the story, and builds yet more love for the amazing game
Basically.... I WANT MORE!!!!

Idea 2 seems the best to me. Adding great screens + your great story writing skills, it adds to one hell of a story. |

Loved following this the last few months, sorry I don't post more. The first idea sounds very interesting, something I'd definitely take part in if it happened. I'd be fine with idea 2 as well though |

I must admit. I followed in the beginning and trailed off through the middle (not sure why I stopped). I've been following again since the Tour of Tasmania, but haven't posted a single comment, so I kinda feel bad
I like idea #1. I'd love to join

OPtion 1 will only lead to the previous followers joining the squads and you wont attract any new readers. Maybe you might even loose some cause some people missed out.
In my opinion keep it the way it is. I liked not only the layout but also the simplicity of the story, cause it was just that: A proper story (and a nice replacement to Dark Dog). There are too many stories emerging that want members to join in and after they filled up all the slots die down quickly...

Thanks for the feedback so far! Currently on my mobile, so i will just come around with a short answer today. More detailed thoughts at a later point.
@miggi/Manx: I see your point. Something i didn't really think of, tbh. There have been too many "Daily-members join this, join that-stuff" imo, with none of them going too far.
But i also see a difference. It's not like i would ask for random members signing up with fantasy rider, who isn't of interest for anyone else. It's more like that i would just get some help for mixing some things in this NRS and it's teams prior to the new season. It would also add some unpredictable elements thanks to the race-planning.
Of course i could do all this stuff on my own. Something i definitely consider! I'm not too sure this ManGame-idea would make some possible new followers disappearing though. The story itself would remain the same. Some new followers wouldn't maybe even notice a difference, as there have been different "fans" for different teams (sutty and Budget, miggi and Huon) or riders (Miguel and VdP, Ian and Earle) before
A kinda long message, but maybe some useful thoughts

Says it's going to be short - writes a big wall of text. Well, if that's short by your standards, I don't wanna know what you think big is. |

A long answer probably would have been half of this wall, for which i have to say sorry
I'll blame it on my english skills! In my native language, i would have expressed my thoughts in three sentences

Update on my thoughts Okay, guys. It will take a coupe of weeks of preparation (new races, teams, etc) anyway, but I'm still not sure how to continue! For those, who had concerns about getting my readers involved, you may check my post if you haven't yet.
It would also be nice to know, if you would join this idea, even though you voted against it. I still think it would be fun, especially for me, as it would add some excitement to the pre-season stuff, that still has to be done (transfers, race-planning).
