Aawww
I agree with your go at this, I do the same. Takes me at most a minute at best.
I don't see any point searching for town names in google or doing stuff similar to that. I think everyone can do that
It's just a bit of fun quick game.
Although I can also see why people do search around etc.

I think that being spot on gives you a bit to much points in this game. Say you miss with 100km and your opponent misses with 1km, you get around 2000 points whilst he gets 6000.
If, however, you miss with 100km onthe next and he misses with 10000km it seems like you get 2000, but he gets 1500, or something.
If you get just one guess one spot on, you can aim at Jupiter for the remaining ones and still win the challenge.

You won the challenge with 10181 points against 9870
Tactic:
Spoiler Searching for nearby city name/board - 5-10 Secs. (Sometimes only able to recognise language)
Switching to the google maps tab and write the name - 10 secs.
Then try to zoom as close as possible to there with the remaining time, and then take a gamble
Worked at 3/5

Well, switching to google maps to type the name is just killing the game... The point of the game is to use only the clues that you get in the picture, plus your general knowledge, and make a guess with only that. Without searching on the internet...
That's like entering a quiz, but still using the internet or a library to give your answers.
And we just add some minor rules like a time limit or no moving, but the general rule of not searching for the clues on the internet is still aplied ofcourse!

I thought that not using google to search for place names was a given? I mean, what's the point then?

10676 for me, on the first three ones I was about half as close as your guesses and the last two ones just about 40 points further than you. |

It wasn't one of the rules. And I'm 100% sure that most others do it as well

I quote the help:
Look at the area and figure out where you are.
I believe that means you should only use the map itself
