Forever Agostinho - the return of a national Hero
kimiopn
GP Ouest France - Plouay

On this WT race the sponsors are expecting a fifth place and the team manager has lined up a strong team to achieve it with Valverde, Costa, Lastras and Intxausti. But it should be the team sprinter Ventoso to fight for the win.
A long hard race...

i1151.photobucket.com/albums/o621/kimiopn/GP%20Plouay/Profile38_zpse5c46171.jpg

With 30km to go the 3 men break is almost caught. Everybody is still holding on the peloton.

i1151.photobucket.com/albums/o621/kimiopn/GP%20Plouay/30km3_zps65a0dde6.jpg

With 10km to go Nuyens and Cancellara attack with Hunter, Ladagnous, Favilli and the Movistar quartet following: Lastras, Valverde, Costa and Ventoso.

i1151.photobucket.com/albums/o621/kimiopn/GP%20Plouay/10km3_zpse00374b8.jpg

And 4 km to go and Valverde reaches the front, working to Ventoso with Costa on the middle.

i1151.photobucket.com/albums/o621/kimiopn/GP%20Plouay/4km1_zps4df3d5a0.jpg

And a great win to Ventoso, with a wonderful work by his team!!

Great win with Ventoso. Wink

Ian Butler
Great win, stylish Smile

btw I just read 2 nice stories about Agostinho:

Spoiler
1. On Puy de dôme in 1971 some riders (Ocana and Zoetemelk I think) took advantage of Merckx' hard work and then rode away. Agostinho had a lot of admiration for Merckx and stayed with him, he says. I like that.

2. On Mont Ventoux 1970, Eddy Merckx was climbing a deadly pace and apparently the very last one to let go was Agostinho.

Seems like a decent lad and an iron strong climber Smile

After yesterday's crash Moreno showed some difficulty. The team will need him, so tomorrow's rest day could help on his recovery.

Today we have the time trial. With the first half all on ascent, the climbers should have the chance to defend themselves.

And Contador was the best gaining la roja today! Movistar men also did great with Agostinho on third and Cobo 2nd.

Stage 12 Vuelta a España

And today we have another end of stage fitted for the fast climbers.

i1151.photobucket.com/albums/o621/kimiopn/Vuelta%20a%20Espana/Stage%2012/profile40_zps1bd2102f.jpg

With 60 km to go there are 14 (!) men on the break and they have 15' to the peloton. With no one dangerous to the GC, Saxobank is just not chasing. Let's see what Katusha and Movistar will do.

i1151.photobucket.com/albums/o621/kimiopn/Vuelta%20a%20Espana/Stage%2012/60km1_zps81816838.jpg

And with no help, Movistar can't do more than reduce the difference to 10 minutes, as the break enter the final 15 km. It will be between them.

Stage 13 Vuelta a España

And another day to the sprinters. Movistar will work to Rojas and should have the help from Sky, Lotto, GreenEdge and Argos to avoid the break to get to the finish.

i1151.photobucket.com/albums/o621/kimiopn/Vuelta%20a%20Espana/Stage%2013/profile41_zps8b38acf6.jpg

With 50km to go Movistar starts their work. The sprinters teams have controlled the gap to the break an now there are only about 2 minutes between them.

i1151.photobucket.com/albums/o621/kimiopn/Vuelta%20a%20Espana/Stage%2013/50km3_zps1f9c6d1a.jpg

And Greipel takes the win! Degenkolb is second and Rojas is third.
