How much money would it take to get Zlatan a norwegian citizenship? We're good for 3500 billion kroners, just name a price.
We'll give you Nani for free. |

Anyone see England's 2nd goal. Well, when I say England
One of the best own goals ever!
Anyway, great debut for Townsend and compared to the Ukraine game, a massive improvement. Not exactly WC winning performance but that was much more promising. |

Don't get mad, we reached or objective - the play-off. Qualifying directly would have been disappointing. Good job Paulo Bento, good job team, you did great. Well done. |

Again, depends if you take Netherlands as a whole or not.
In the east, there is bound to be much less wind because it's much more inland.
However, the north and the west are fucking windy as fuck. And as a cyclist, I should know the difference |

It's the wind. I'm not saying anything revolutionary, it's very well established, entire books have been written on it.
It's why Italy can develop technical footballers despite being one of the rainiest countries in europe
Wind makes it quite hard to play accurate passes so you have to resort to long balls to give the guy on the end of them time to run sideways to where it's going to go. Short passing = no such time
What about their playing style? I mean, English football is a bit of kick-and-rush isn't it? It's a really pacy style of play which favours fast, big and strong guys.
While the Dutch style of play is building up from behind, keeping possession of the ball by passing and passing and passing and some more passing until finally a gap is found in the opponent's defense. This style of play favours players with technical and tactical skills.
Also the Dutch style of play is very offense minded. Even the defenders are. They lack a 'over-my-dead-body' mentality when defending. That's why we haven't had any good defenders since Jaap Stam. Rekik looks promising though.
That's just my view, though. |

Dutch style? Ajax, PSV, Twente and Feyenoord(recently) are only teams that have any style at all. Rest is mostly painful to watch. |

Yes, the Dutch league is rubbish. Most teams are having financial troubles so they can't buy/pay any decent player. So a lot of teams are now focusing more on young players, which are, a lot of times, inconsistent. Positive part is that more talented players may pop up, so the future could become interesting.

The reason why English talent has struggled with the passing game is simple. The youth coaching is not good enough and, until recently, you would have players down to Under 7 () being forced to win at all costs. They start competitive football way too soon, though it has changed now and up to a certain age (I think it's 12, but don't quote me), you can only play small sided games on smaller pitches.
This meant that players would get the ball and hoof it straight up the pitch to try and score as quickly as possible, hence they wouldn't develop their technical skills. The amount of matches that would end in results like 10-8 beggars belief. All that matters is scoring quick goals, which doesn't help when they get thrown into youth teams with foreign players who are brought up differently.
It's not rocket science and I think it's unnecessary to bring weather and mentality of the kids in to it, though they may be contributing factors. When I used to play in pouring rain and howling gales, I obviously didn't want to stand around playing tiny, intricate triangles, passing a team to death. I wanted to run around as fast as possible to keep warm. |

Can someone explain to me why Wales is so rubbish at an International level. They seem to actually have a halfway decent squad.

Argentina come from a goal down to beat Peru 3-1. Lavezzi scores twice. |

Something I don't understand either. I mean, they have Bale for starters (I realise he's injured right now) and the EPL Player of the Month Aaron Ramsey, as well as a few other really good players.

Wales' main problem is they have no good strikers and no good defenders (Williams is okay). Plus most of their players can't be arsed to turn up and represent their country. Look at the amount of players that withdrew for these two matches. |

They can put a decent team when they want to, but the main problem is getting them all fit at the same time |
