Its Official without Andy this is going to be the worst Tour ever. 5 Mountain Team TT and 3 Flat ITT. 975.4 kms of TTT. Get used to Colors Black and Blue, beacause thats all we are going to see almost every day.

It may be a great opportunity for Fuglsang also. If Klöden is in bad shape and F. Schleck misses totally out on the TT's, Fuglsang could (if everything eventually goes well) end up in top 5 or something - Just a thought |

I would hope so, but have he ever shown anything to promise he could do that?

No not actually, but he has always had some unlucky days which has ruined all his chances for the GC, so with some luck, i think it's an achieveable result - The route also suits him quite well.

What makes you believe that at all? His best result this year was 18th at Paris-Nice.
Just have a an idea that the tour has been his only goal all season, as the route is perfect for him.
I would not surprise me if Klöden end up on the podium in Paris.
4 or 5 years ago? Sure, I'd maybe agree with you. He is way too old now though. His ITT results speak for themselves:
23rd Algarve TT
60th Paris-Nice Prologue
7th Paris - Nice TT (And it can't be used as comparison because it was mountainous)
46th Luxembourg Prologue
56th Romandie Prologue
25th Romandie TT
21st Suisse Prologue

Only positive thing about this is that it might work as a slap in the face for Andy. Hopefully he'll realise what risk it is to focus your entire season on one single race. One crash, and boom - you're out. Learn that, Andy.
Not looking forward to the UK Postal mountain TTT though.

Let's hope Andy will ride Vuelta, otherwise Contador will win this year easily.

I agree that the route really suits him.
And he have shown promise in the week long races
2009 Dauphine, 2010,2011 tour de suisse.
The best result in a 3 week race was 11 in last years vuelta, in a pretty week field.
Fuglsang potential in a gt is still a big question for me, as he is yet to race one as his umtimate goal for the season(should have been the giro this year)
Just don't se him doing a top 10 in the tour... But i hope i'm wrong and he get's his final breakthrough as a gt rider.

I agree Klöden sucked so far this year, but i just have a feeling the old man has something left.

Bad news, really bad news...
Only positive thing could be that Frank will ride as solo leader for the first time ever.. His best chance of his life, probably..

I think we know he has it, in the end four top 10 GT finishes are pointing on that. Now we will see, if he will be better or worse, but on the course really not made for him.

I think we know he hasn't. He hasn't ever come close to win the Tour with routes incredibly biased to favor pure climbers like him, so with a route like this year's I don't rate him as a contender at all.

Okay, i thought that rider finishing 5th and 3rd at the Tour could be called challenger for the GC, i was not talking about win. But as you like flaming my posts, feel free to continue...

Wouldn't surprise me if Frank decided to skip the Tour, just to join Andy in the Vuelta (if he races it, that is). They need to be together.
Don't think we should count on that Andy rides the Vuelta though. Any other top GC rider in this situation would, but with him, you can't be sure. I bet that if he shows up, he'll be in terrible form and abandon halfway through, a la Frank in the Giro (apart from the form thing).
