What you talking about? Contador did not crashed on cobbles..or I was so drunk again?

Yes, but he still didn't crash Pfft

But frank slowed basically the whole peleton up and saxo bank didnt wait up just went even harder so I dont see this being different in sportmanship to that so it is 1:1 in my book

It is incredible what I am reading....
This is cycling!!! and technical problems are also part of the race...
Everybody critizide Contador for waiting in the second stage...
An d speculate if Andy or Contador was stronger is alittle bit stupid... nobody knows it. Contador was coming, and he was also fast. You only have to see how fast he pass him.

At the end will be great for the race, because Menchov now can also fight for the second place and Andy will try to show what he wasn´t able yesterday.

Are you serious? That was just plain stupid and awkward for everybody. No one deserves that.

When you show disrespect, you get disrespect.

Come on.. Please take the Saxo-glasses off... It's bike racing for gud's sake.. You are saying that Contador should analyse the situation, who's attacking, who's behind me, is Andy in trouple or is it a tech. problem.. Stressful situation. You can't seriously blaime Contador for anything. He had to follow Sanchez as well..?

Personally, I couldn't care less whether a rider from Luxembourg or Spain wins.

I'm just saying that you don't attack the yellow jersey when there's a technical problem. It's one of the many unwritten rules of cycling.

Hesdejal got interviewed and said "it's bike racing, and no one was going to wait."

I forgot Hesjedal was the authoritive voice on this subject Pfft

Well he's more of a bystander in terms of opinions than say Sanchez who would probably tip his hat towards Conta. We could ask Renshaw if he thought that was fair?

Wipacer
Contador not knowing Andy had a mechanical problem is complete bs. As soon as it happens you can see Vino on his radio.

Obviously not since the majority of the riders say that it's bike racing and tech. problems are a part of it.

And btw. I'm 90% sure that Andy made a mistake with the gears himself and caused the chain to fall off.

That is true, but it was not so clear.. usually the chain jumps and after 2 sec it comes back in. it wasn't like Andy falling down and Conta attacking... don't be unfair!!

Let's wait and see how much time Conta gets in the TT before we cry about these 40 seconds lost.

Well, it could've been 40 seconds in the other direction, bringing the lead up. But, we'll never know that now, it's all hypothetical. Smile

Most likely scenario:

- Schleck attacks, Contador is busy and sends Vino after him.
- Schelck looses his chain, Contador does not noticed it and attacked
- Contador to focused on his attack to notice Schleck
- Contador noticed Schleck, but had everyone on his wheel, and could not stop.

I can not either see Astanas DS scream "Stop!" over the headphones.

On the Bright side. This guarantees action on the remaining mountains. And Menchov and Sanchez are both in the race for second.

I don't have a problem with the fact that Contador did not wait for Schleck. I don't think anyone expected him to slow down and wait for him to re-join. It is the fact that he immediately attacked when he passed Andy. There is no way in hell that he could not recognize Schleck had a mechanical problem. He would not have just slowed down rapidly at that point right during the middle of the attack.

how much do you think Menchov can put on Schleck on the TT?
Because he really looks very strong on the mountains!!

Busy? But this happened
- Schelck looses his chain, Contador does not noticed it and attacked

Unlikely Contador didn't notice, he attacked after the chain drop, and then even looked down the climb!
- Contador to focused on his attack to notice Schleck

umm, nope. His attack hadn't started yet.
-Contador noticed Schleck, but had everyone on his wheel, and could not stop.

That is the worst scenario of the lot.

I didn't see any interviews yet, but between the TdF cyclists/sportifs on Twitter, it's currently 2-0 in favour of the unwritten rule Wink

Concerning the chain, it was said to be caused by a rock / stone on the road.

See Andreas' post, Contador basically said that, and it is all complete BS.

Apparently we cycling fans are stupid you see.

Yeah the back wheel on Andys bike jumped. I don't know if a lousy gear change can cause that or if the jump was the cause of the chain to jump off.

Tuco the Ugly
From Robbie Hunter

If ppl say he never knew,I doubt it.He's got a radio and his Team mate Vino was on the wheel and saw it clearly..any ways just my opinion!

Last thoughts..if he never knew,he could have show remorse on the podium by not putting his hand in the air and celebrating...

There's a couple of things which need to addressed, such as the meaning of the word 'sportsmanship', as it means different things too different people, and also where do you draw the line, if andy fell off would alberto have too stop and wait for him? and if a rider cracks like cadel did while in yellow, do you wait for them? finally you have got to also accept the fact that these are professional sportsmen, and they are paid very well by teams who's sponsers put millions into the teams, and i dont think any sponser would accept thier team leader stopping, possibly at the detriment to their own yellow jersey oppourtunities
"Don't even suggest Plymouth is an easy game. Look at it this way. There's a greyhound going through a field and he sees a rabbit. The rabbit starts running. The greyhound fancies a bit of snap but the rabbit fancies his life. Who runs the hardest? The rabbit, absolutely. That's been my view on life." "Mick McCarthy"

At least this is good reason to make Tourmalet stage even more interesting.. You butting Menchov on second position already?

Even Andy's team mate, Chris Anker, said that Contador did the right thing..

But I guess that it wont be long before we hear Lance moaning about Contador just to moan... and because it's Contador.

I'm no Contador fan - I admire his talents though - but that booing was so out of order and awkward.
