I have to say what I've always though. Where does Jakob Fuglsang get this mad idea that he's a grand tour top 10 candidate? What has he ever shown to back it up? Someone enlighten me.
But to be beaten by Russell Downing in the Tour of Ireland smacks to me of someone who isn't a grand tour winner. Regardless of peaks or no peaks.
he finished really high in last years Dauphine, and that was promising. but i do think he's a bit overrated |

Problem is, people talk of him as if he's a very young rider, which he's not. He's the same age as Andy, so I don't think he'll ever compete for podium in a GT.
However his performances in last years Dauphine (6th) and Catalunya (6th) plus this years Suisse (3rd) puts him in the top-10 candidates for me.
Look at Hesjedal for example, he never had results like that, but could go top 10, so I think Jacob can do it at some point as well. Don't think Chris Anker will ever do it though.
Edit: when I say candidates, I mean in the future not present

Oh Chris can do a top 10 one day. He just have to become even less pretty when riding.
But seriously though, cycling is a sport where people you wouldn't consider to do a top 50 suddenly end up doing a top 10. You cant outrule either to suddenly become great*.

Hmm, Can't see Chris doing top 10 at the tour at least. Maybe a fitting Vuelta, but like Jakob, I think the danish media overrate his ability (which is only natural I suppose)
Had to LOL though when they made a segment with the potential tour winners, and it included Schleck, Kreuziger, Gesink and Fuglsang |

TV2 is pure Saxo Bank propaganda. It's quiet amusing actually. |

He hasn't been racing for all that long, but before that he was a top of the line Mountain Biker. He won the Tour of Denmark 2 times (Not that it shows he will win the Tour), and didn't he finish the Tour of Switzerland in 3rd place? Or is that some weird dream I have?
Anyway it's all guessing, and I'm extremely biased for being a friend of him, so I can't be counted for realistic on him :-)
Chris Anker will probably be able to ride top 10 GT. I doubt it will be the Tour, simply because he will always be in the helpers role. A mountain jersey is realistic though imo. 2 years from now.

If they get a big sponsor, then they'll sign people like Sammy Sanchez and keep riders like Rojas. They want Contador, but that's financially impossible without a big money sponsor.
If not, Arroyo and Juan Jose Cobo. |

SS may have to leave, as Euskaltel have financial troubles and are expected to drop down to Pro Continental. |

Kiryienka back to Katusha is no real surprise is it though. I was surprised when he left [Tinkoff turning into Katusha], but I guess Caisse offered him more money. Hopefully he'll get just as many chances to go for stage wins as he has this year with Caisse.
Isso: I didn't know he trained with Rasmussen, but I guess that might be why he consistantly states that he could get to a top 10 in a Grand Tour. But also, he might just have the self belief, and be perfectly clean and attempt to do it like Vandevelde, Wiggins, and Hesjedal. Self belief can get you a long way it seems. As can the right team. Still, if he moves to the new Luxembourg team, I can't ever see him having a chance. Ever.

They are no longer training with each other. It isn't due to Riis' "recommendations", though, but the fact that Rasmussen in public criticized everyone around Fuglsang, labelled them as "amateurs" (in contrary to himself, of course...).
Needless to say, Fuglsang didn't like that |

Agree with this one.
He will never be able to take captaincy role if he rides on the same team as Andy or Contador. He COULD be able to make it to a top 5 rider at some point, and given that he gets that good, he would probably be given the leaders role just about everywhere besides the team of those riders.
Imo he is moving quite fast in the right direction, and this being his first Tour de France is also of some importance. I wouldn't be surprised to see him finise within top 20 next year as a luxury helper for some top 3 rider.

Spanish radio station SER in local news programme interviewed Daniel Navarro. He said that he recognizes his, and Contador's future out of the Team Astana.

Fuglsang seems like a guy who is burned out after 1 week, 2 weeks max... Don't think he'll ever be a GT rider, but hey, like Waghlon said. People who you don't even consider of doing a top 50 can suddenly do a top 10.
Cyril Dessel and Ryder Hesjedal for the win! |
