I'm just a few stages ahead of the story. The cropping of images and the writing doesn't take much time Smile

I´m asking because I found out you use same pictures of stage winners. I´m wondering how much racing days have Levi exactly atm Smile

The Levi picture was taken after the first stage. I didn't bother taking another one after the time trial. So unfortunately he has quite a few racing days. Just add the number of Vuelta stages to the amount in the picture.

Stage 8
i884.photobucket.com/albums/ac43/christian_gr/vuelta%20a%20espana/profil8.png
Alziro - Alto de Aitana: 207.4km

Tactics meeting
After the time trial, we head directly into the first mountain stage. The stage is long for being a mountain stage, and the final climb is also quite long. But Levi feels at home in the mountains as well, not just on the time trial bike, and we shouldn't have much trouble defending the golden jersey we regained yesterday.

i884.photobucket.com/albums/ac43/christian_gr/vuelta%20a%20espana/8-1.png
Three riders were in the break today. Filippo Pozzato, Rui Miguel Sousa and Thomas Rohregger had a maximum lead of 3'20, but they didn't last too long.

i884.photobucket.com/albums/ac43/christian_gr/vuelta%20a%20espana/8-2.png
On the last climb, Juanjo Cobo attacked with 17km remaining to the top. We just let him go, as he wasn't the biggest threat to Levi.

i884.photobucket.com/albums/ac43/christian_gr/vuelta%20a%20espana/8-3.png
With 3km left to the top, the golden jersey group had become quite small. Only Levi was there for Discovery. Cobo was alone in the lead, almost a minute in front of the others.

i884.photobucket.com/albums/ac43/christian_gr/vuelta%20a%20espana/8-4.png
Cobo held on, and his solo climb brought him a great stage win!

i884.photobucket.com/albums/ac43/christian_gr/vuelta%20a%20espana/8-5.png
Levi was one of the six riders finishing in the group behind Cobo, 43 seconds down. As expected, we had no problems defending the jersey. Cobo moves into 3rd place overall.

Stage 9
i884.photobucket.com/albums/ac43/christian_gr/vuelta%20a%20espana/profil9.png
Alcoy - Xorret del Catí: 188.9km

Tactics meeting
Today, the riders are facing the incredibly steep Xorret del Cati climb. It's just 4km long, but it's average gradient is almost 14%. We'll work to keep the golden jersey through this day as well, but the stage win could be difficult, as we don't have anybody explosive enough to get away on the Xorret del Cati.

i884.photobucket.com/albums/ac43/christian_gr/vuelta%20a%20espana/9-1.png
The break of the day, containing Benjamin Noval of Discovery Channel, was caught at the foot of the Xorret del Cati by a pack led by Silence - Lotto and Fuji.

i884.photobucket.com/albums/ac43/christian_gr/vuelta%20a%20espana/9-2.png
Alberto Contador used his amazing accelration to move clear of the peloton on the climb.

i884.photobucket.com/albums/ac43/christian_gr/vuelta%20a%20espana/9-3.png
Over the top, he was 30 seconds in front of everybody else.

i884.photobucket.com/albums/ac43/christian_gr/vuelta%20a%20espana/9-4.png
Nobody could catch him on the short descent, and the stage win was Contador's! Most of the other favourites finished 32 seconds behind the Spaniard.

i884.photobucket.com/albums/ac43/christian_gr/vuelta%20a%20espana/9-5.png
Samuel Sanchez must either have had a very bad day, or encountered some problems, as he finished five minutes down on Contador. He will have ridden himself out of contention for the overall win.

Stage 10
i884.photobucket.com/albums/ac43/christian_gr/vuelta%20a%20espana/profil10.png
Alicante - Murcia: 162.4km

Tactics meeting
Today we're back in flat terrain. The climb towards the end could take the sting out of a few sprinters, but we should probably see a mass sprint. Let's hope Vaitkus is back on top of things, after having faded away a bit after the first couple of stages.

i884.photobucket.com/albums/ac43/christian_gr/vuelta%20a%20espana/10-1.png
Like I predicted, we had a mass sprint. Samuel Sanchez surprised everybody by beating a large bunch of strong sprinters. He is obviously back on form after yesterday's big time loss. Ruben Plaza, 10th in the GC, had an accident and had to abandon the race. Game crashed, so it'll only be this low quality picture of Sanchez winning.

Stage 11
i884.photobucket.com/albums/ac43/christian_gr/vuelta%20a%20espana/profil11.png
Murcia - Caravaca de la Cruz: 191.4km

Tactics meeting
Yesterday was the first rest day of the Vuelta, and today we are back racing on a fairly undulating course. It looks a perfect breakaway stage, so we should aim to get a man in the break.

i884.photobucket.com/albums/ac43/christian_gr/vuelta%20a%20espana/11-1.png
Teams like Rabobank and Cervelo were not interested in letting any breakaway get out of reach, and we had another mass sprint. The result was a little less surprising than last stage, as Oscar Freire won. Tomorrow we're back in the mountains. (Game crashed again)

In every carreer, the game seems to run slower towards the end of the season. I've decided to take a few pictures during the stages from now on, but they won't be of very high quality. Hopefully the crashing doesn't continue.

Stage 12
i884.photobucket.com/albums/ac43/christian_gr/vuelta%20a%20espana/profil12.png
Almería - Alto de Velefique: 174.4km

Tactics meeting
Stage 12 has more than 3500 meters in total climbing, and the Alto de Velefique will be ascended twice. Judging by the earlier stages, Levi can hang on but not gain time. Since he's in the golden jersey, that would be ok by us.

i884.photobucket.com/albums/ac43/christian_gr/vuelta%20a%20espana/12-1.png
Except a solo attempt from David Arroyo on the first ascent of the Alto de Velefique, which was neutralized, nothing much happened before the last climb. Contador attacked with 11km remaining of the stage, and quickly got himself a gap of 1 minute.

i884.photobucket.com/albums/ac43/christian_gr/vuelta%20a%20espana/12-2.png
Sanchez, Cobo, Evans, Pereiro and Levi were chasing the Astana rider.

i884.photobucket.com/albums/ac43/christian_gr/vuelta%20a%20espana/12-3.png
By the 5km mark, Levi was dropped by the chasegroup. With Contador still far up the road, the golden jersey was in great danger.

i884.photobucket.com/albums/ac43/christian_gr/vuelta%20a%20espana/12-4.png
Pereiro was the strongest of the chasers, and got away during the last km. He still had a long way up to Contador though.

i884.photobucket.com/albums/ac43/christian_gr/vuelta%20a%20espana/12-5.png
Alberto Contador dominated the stage, and he also seized the leader's jersey from Levi Leipheimer...

i884.photobucket.com/albums/ac43/christian_gr/vuelta%20a%20espana/12-6.png
...who finished almost 2 minutes behind the Spaniard, in 6th place. He drops to 2nd overall. His form is declining, and I wonder if he even can hang on to a podium place. Contador seems totally out of reach.

Stage 13
i884.photobucket.com/albums/ac43/christian_gr/vuelta%20a%20espana/profil13.png
Berja - Sierra Nevada: 179.4km

Tactics meeting
The highest point of the Vuelta, the Alto de Sierra Nevada at 2520 meters, is reached today. This is the queen stage of the race, and one that suits Contador even better than yesterday. We will be pleased if Leipheimer can hang on to a podium position overall.

i884.photobucket.com/albums/ac43/christian_gr/vuelta%20a%20espana/13-1.png
Fränk Schleck, 7th in the GC, attacked on the first big climb. Halfway through the stage he had a lead of 9 minutes over the peloton. He was trying a Landis attack!

i884.photobucket.com/albums/ac43/christian_gr/vuelta%20a%20espana/13-2.png
Halfway up the Sierra Nevada, only the GC contenders were left in the peloton after a hard chase. Schleck was still 3 minutes up front.

i884.photobucket.com/albums/ac43/christian_gr/vuelta%20a%20espana/13-3.png
With Schleck's lead having gone down to 2 minutes, Contador and Oscar Pereiro attacked! They had 10km left to the top.

i884.photobucket.com/albums/ac43/christian_gr/vuelta%20a%20espana/13-4.png
Pereiro and Contador got away from the other favourites. Five minutes later, they passed poor Fränk Schleck.

i884.photobucket.com/albums/ac43/christian_gr/vuelta%20a%20espana/13-5.png
Levi, in his blue points jersey, stayed with Cobo and Samuel Sanchez. Cadel Evans was somewhere in between Levi and the two leaders.

i884.photobucket.com/albums/ac43/christian_gr/vuelta%20a%20espana/13-6.png
Levi's group also passed a completely cracked Fränk Schleck just before the flamme rouge.

i884.photobucket.com/albums/ac43/christian_gr/vuelta%20a%20espana/13-7.png
Of the two leaders, Oscar Pereiro turned out to be the strongest today. Contador finished 17 seconds down.

i884.photobucket.com/albums/ac43/christian_gr/vuelta%20a%20espana/13-8.png
Levi's three man group caught up with Evans at the line, and they finished 1'24 behind stage winner Pereiro. Except switching the two top riders, the standings for the top ten of today's stage were almost identical to yesterday.

12.09.2009: Vuelta a España

Stage 14
i884.photobucket.com/albums/ac43/christian_gr/vuelta%20a%20espana/profil14.png
Granada - La Pandera: 158.4km

Tactics meeting
This is the third mountain top finish in a row. The sprinters must be having a hard time. Contador and Pereiro have been different class on the last two mountain stages, and I don't believe Levi is able to beat them today either. But we're still hanging on to the poduim. Hopefully, some other riders are also feeling the long season in their legs.

i884.photobucket.com/albums/ac43/christian_gr/vuelta%20a%20espana/14-1.png
Not surprisingly, Astana and Caisse d'Epargne were driving the peloton at the bottom of the Sierra de La Pandera.

i884.photobucket.com/albums/ac43/christian_gr/vuelta%20a%20espana/14-2.png
Because of the pace, an elite group formed. Levi was following quite easily, but Cobo in the climber's jersey and Pereiro in the points jersey were having a bit of trouble.

i884.photobucket.com/albums/ac43/christian_gr/vuelta%20a%20espana/14-3.png
With 2.5km remaining, Fränk Schleck attacked! He really is on the offensive in the Vuelta, having spent the whole of yesterday in a solo break.

i884.photobucket.com/albums/ac43/christian_gr/vuelta%20a%20espana/14-4.png
Cobo, Leipheimer and Pereiro couldn't handle the accelrations, so they were dropped by the golden jersey group.

i884.photobucket.com/albums/ac43/christian_gr/vuelta%20a%20espana/14-5.png
Samuel Sanchez managed to keep up with Schleck's attack. The sprint for the stage win would be between those two. Contador and Cobo, who had recovered, were a few meters behind.

i884.photobucket.com/albums/ac43/christian_gr/vuelta%20a%20espana/14-6.png
Sanchez was clearly the superior sprinter, and took his second stage win in the Vuelta a España 2009!

i884.photobucket.com/albums/ac43/christian_gr/vuelta%20a%20espana/14-7.png
Levi finished together with Oscar Pereiro, 52 seconds behind Sanchez and just behind Cadel Evans.

Stage 15
i884.photobucket.com/albums/ac43/christian_gr/vuelta%20a%20espana/profil15.png
Jaén - Córdoba: 163.4km

Tactics meeting
Finally we're back in flat terrain, which means no more time loss for Levi Leipheimer. Tomas Vaitkus could get a chance again today, if the hill just before the finish doesn't turn out to be too tough.

i884.photobucket.com/albums/ac43/christian_gr/vuelta%20a%20espana/15-1.png
Going up the hill was no problem for Vaitkus, but descending it was obviously more difficult. He crashed near the 10km mark, and couldn't get back in time for the sprint.

i884.photobucket.com/albums/ac43/christian_gr/vuelta%20a%20espana/15-2.png
The hill had obviously taken the sting out of all the sprinters. The bunch sprint was contested by almost all the GC favourites, and Samuel Sanchez won again. Levi was 4th.
