So, the first suprize is here. The Czech Tomas Paprstka took the title. To illustrate how suprizing; he was 16th on the UCI ranking.
The U23 start in 2 houres. You can still place your bet here.

Heh, yeah. Can't imagine it to be easy to warm up your muscles that way.
I am rather dissapointed by the Dutch performances though. Van der Poel suddenly lost half a minute, Van Poppel was nowhere to be seen, and Bosman couldn't pull it off either.
While those three where actually thought to possibly make up an all Dutch podium... And now it's only Dolfsma on third. Good ride by him though. He seemed more pleased with his third place then Paprtska with his victory

Well, if after the Juniors race you thought you had enough suprizer; Polish domination in the U23
Brothers Szczepaniak take one and two, French top talent goed third, while the man to beat Tom Meeuwen is only 4th. The guy came for the rainbow jersey and nothing else, and now he hasnt even got a medal.
But man, he is still technically superior to everybody around today, and probably better then most pro's as well. The way he jumped over the beams is just magnificent.
like this;

Yeah pretty surprising. There were only 3 polish riders participating and they finished 1,2 and 5.

yeah and it looked like they were going to do 1 2 3 for a very long time
I heard it's going to freeze badly tonight and that the parcours will be (much) worse tomorrow.
It's going to be a very weird WC tomorrow.

the junior´s race was much more interesting then the u23 race because it was easy to see that Pawel Szczepaniak will take the win
jouffroy just got a good rhythm too late to be dangerous for the brothers

Tomorrow's favourites are: Vos, Compton, Van den Brand and Kupfernagel for the women I'd say.
They start at 11:00.
For the men Nys, Stybar and Albert are the favourites as usual. The men will start at 14:00
But looking at today's results you can't be certain one of them will win it. Sofar we have two surprising winners already.

You're forgetting home favourite Catharina Nash for the womens
But like you said. No certainities on this course.
Nys has got one trick up his sleeve though; Look what Meeuwen does about 25% into this video. Nys promised that if Tom would go for it in the race, he'd do the same.

Great stuff by Vos. In the lead after 250m, and all the way to the line. Very well deserved.
Some bad news as well though; Walsleben won't start this afternoon; he's caugth with a too high hematocric value...
