PR talk pure and simple.
Improve his condition for WHAT? There's nothing left in the season.
But saying these things looks good
For next season and the rest of the future? A broken pelvis that takes three and a half months to fully heal is a really bad sign, especially as it was residual pain that prolonged his time off the bike. It could mean that the musculature around that area didn't settle back into place properly after the bone reset, and that could be a sign of future issues that could hurt him long term. Building up form now, coming out of the injury, will likely strengthen that region and make it less likely he gets future musculature injuries there.
I don't think Andy said it for PR, I think he said it because his doctors are telling him he needs to get into shape and get his legs working to build up strength. |

For that he needs to do physiotherapy, or something even better that his former mentor Riis "invented" for cyclists: Go ski. Nothing beats it for that purpose.
It's PR talk.

After what he showed at the Vuelta and lately, and the different strengths of riders, I didn't really expect Degenkolb to be beaten by Blythe and Petit. I wonder how the sprint turned out. |

I'm a bit surprised as well, but I don't know if you can consider it a real sprint at all. 22 riders on s.t., no support for Blythe or Degenkolb, only Garcia for Petit.
I'd love to see a video, so if anyone finds one, it'd be awesome

"Quinzi (teammate Manuel Quinziato) did his last effort on the little climb before the cobblestone section and kept it in one line and then Michi (teammate Michael Schär) just went full gas across the cobblestones," said Blythe. "I attacked with about 700 metres to go, which was a bit risky, but I gave everything to hold it to the line.
Which goes some way to explain the gap

Barta and Sydlik have a 7 minute lead after 67km at Munsterland Giro. I honestly would not be surprised if Barta takes this from a break, it is the ideal sort of situation for him to be in.

The peloton has caught Barta and Sydlik and now is on the circuit. Unless a miracle happens we´ll have another sprint today.
I guess the summary later will be as usual: 25 minutes about the hobby riders and 5 minutes about the actual race.

Where will that summary be?
On the other hand, nearly all summaries I see are that way.
Even worse: 3 minutes showing the break, then a sudden switch to the final 50 metres of the sprint.

WDR will broadcast it , probably only working in Germany. So another HQ-report à la Rund um Köln.

Kittel wins while Radio Tour demands 4 ambulances after a mass crash.

Damn those crashed...
Good sprinting by Kittel, though, nice. |

Apparently Van Hummel has been relegated from 2nd place today. So the new top 10 is:
1 Kittel
2 Van Staeyen
3 Groenewegen
4 Hofland
5 Brambilla
6 Fenn
7 Stallaert
8 Selig
9 Sentjens
10 Greipel
I'm personally pretty excited for how Stallaert has been sprinting in the past few weeks. Some really promising results.

Van Staeyen is puzzling me for quite some time now.
In pretty heavily contested races in Belgium, he's always in the mix, often the first rather unknown guy behind the top favourites, yet his last win dated two years back.
He seems like the typical weaker PCM sprinter who benefits of slipstream to sneak himself in the top places
(I won the Continental Tour with Rick Zabel that way )

Well done by 19-year-old Groenewegen.
But what happened to Greipel? |
