I didn't expect Rosseler (and Lövkvist) to beat Boom in the itt, still nice second overall, also 9th and 11th, second in team classification and first two in points jersey - not a bad tour |

Rosseler and Lövkvist did so well on the cobble/hill stage, they were obviously in good shape

Well.. Rosseler was hard to beat But you were in reach of podium and made it! And that's great news for Garmin and a nice job by Boom!

Thank you all.
Well Rosseler is a great rider on the flat (80) stages with a good cobble (76) and timetrial (76) stat. Definitely a good rider for this race. Lövkvist is a great time trialist (78). So I am quite happy with the 2nd. Also our sponsor isn`t too unhappy. Orange mark in the box.
But in the end the bonus seconds were very important. ^^

Rosseler was in a great shape, no chances for Boom. At least you managed a podium place. |

Thanks Freitas, probably you are right with Rosseler.
A short summary of the Limousin tour now. It was a last preparation for the GP Plouay and the Vuelta for Hesjedal.
3 pretty hilly stages and one long time trial. Most favourites aren`t that good time trialist, so it will be a exciting stage race.

As you see Hesjedal is one of the biggest favourites. Also Kirienka, Vorganov, Pauriol, Bouet or Champion have good chances here.
But also Danny Pate is looking for his chance if he survives the hills and rides a good time trial.
With Goss we have a great sprinter here and he will be supported by Farrar.
Stage 1: Oradour sur Glane - La Souterraine
1 | Rémi Pauriol | Team Movistar | 4h56'52 | 2 | Ryder Hesjedal | Garmin - Cervelo | s.t. | 3 | Aaron Kemps | Fly V Australia | s.t. | 4 | Guillaume Blot | Cofidis, le Credit en Ligne | s.t. | 5 | Julien El Fares | Ag2r La Mondiale | s.t. | 6 | Kevin Lacombe | Spidertech powered by Planet Energy | s.t. | 7 | Francesco Chicchi | Liquigas - Cannondale | s.t. | 8 | Thomas Voeckler | Team Europcar | s.t. | 9 | Wim De Vocht | Big Mat - Auber 93 | s.t. | 10 | Pieter Jacobs | Landbouwkrediet | s.t. |
Spoiler 11 | Eduard Vorganov | Team HTC - Highroad | s.t. | 12 | Michael Schär | Team Saxobank - Sungard | s.t. | 13 | Francis Mourey | FDJ | s.t. | 14 | Ken Hanson | Team Type 1 | s.t. | 15 | Matthew Harley Goss | Garmin - Cervelo | + 1'11 | 16 | Jean-Eudes Demaret | Cofidis, le Credit en Ligne | s.t. | 17 | Steven Van Vooren | Landbouwkrediet | s.t. | 18 | Tyler Farrar | Garmin - Cervelo | s.t. | 19 | Phil Zajicek | Fly V Australia | s.t. | 20 | Julien Simon | Saur - Sojasun | s.t. |
The first stage was already harder than expected. Pauriol wins ahead of Hesjedal. But just the first 14 riders were in the same group. Goss as 15ths won the sprint of the peloton, where some favourites lost 1'11 today.
Stage 2: La Souterraine - Magnac Bourg
1 | Dimitri Champion | Cofidis, le Credit en Ligne | 1h04'12 | 2 | Vasil Kiryienka | Team Movistar | + 1 | 3 | Adam Hansen | Team HTC - Highroad | + 11 | 4 | Ben Day | Fly V Australia | + 13 | 5 | Tony Gallopin | Cofidis, le Credit en Ligne | + 27 | 6 | Danny Pate | Garmin - Cervelo | + 28 | 7 | David Le Lay | Team Europcar | + 42 | 8 | Ryder Hesjedal | Garmin - Cervelo | + 43 | 9 | Maxime Bouet | Team Movistar | + 55 | 10 | Phil Zajicek | Fly V Australia | + 58 |
Pate and Hesjedal with very good time trials today. But none of them were able to beat Champion. Together with Kiryienka he was the only top15 contender beating our riders today, so Hesjedal takes the lead.
1 | Ryder Hesjedal | Garmin - Cervelo | 6h01'35 | 2 | Rémi Pauriol | Team Movistar | + 33 | 3 | Dimitri Champion | Cofidis, le Credit en Ligne | + 40 | 4 | Vasil Kiryienka | Team Movistar | + 41 | 5 | Michael Schär | Team Saxobank - Sungard | + 42 | 6 | Adam Hansen | Team HTC - Highroad | + 51 | 7 | Ben Day | Fly V Australia | + 53 | 8 | Kevin Lacombe | Spidertech powered by Planet Energy | + 1'03 | 9 | Tony Gallopin | Cofidis, le Credit en Ligne | + 1'07 | 10 | Danny Pate | Garmin - Cervelo | + 1'08 |
Stage 3: St Yrieix la Perche
1 | Ryder Hesjedal | Garmin - Cervelo | 5h01'04 | 2 | Rémi Pauriol | Team Movistar | s.t. | 3 | Julien El Fares | Ag2r La Mondiale | s.t. | 4 | Eduard Vorganov | Team HTC - Highroad | s.t. | 5 | Vasil Kiryienka | Team Movistar | + 24 | 6 | David Le Lay | Team Europcar | s.t. | 7 | Pieter Jacobs | Landbouwkrediet | s.t. | 8 | Christophe Riblon | Team Movistar | s.t. | 9 | Ben Day | Fly V Australia | s.t. | 10 | Clément Lhotellerie | Team Europcar | s.t. |
Spoiler 11 | Anthony Charteau | Team Europcar | s.t. | 12 | Adam Hansen | Team HTC - Highroad | s.t. | 13 | Maxime Bouet | Team Movistar | s.t. | 14 | Thomas Peterson | Garmin - Cervelo | s.t. | 15 | Thomas Voeckler | Team Europcar | s.t. | 16 | Danny Pate | Garmin - Cervelo | s.t. | 17 | Dimitri Champion | Cofidis, le Credit en Ligne | s.t. | 18 | Jean-Eudes Demaret | Cofidis, le Credit en Ligne | s.t. | 19 | Jetse Bol | Rabobank CT | s.t. | 20 | Martial Ricci-Poggi | Landbouwkrediet | s.t. |
Hesjedal with a strong performance wins the stage out of a small group. Pate lost some time today but still in a good position.
1 | Ryder Hesjedal | Garmin - Cervelo | 11h02'19 | 2 | Rémi Pauriol | Team Movistar | + 41 | 3 | Dimitri Champion | Cofidis, le Credit en Ligne | + 1'24 | 4 | Vasil Kiryienka | Team Movistar | + 1'25 | 5 | Adam Hansen | Team HTC - Highroad | + 1'35 | 6 | Ben Day | Fly V Australia | + 1'37 | 7 | Julien El Fares | Ag2r La Mondiale | + 1'39 | 8 | Eduard Vorganov | Team HTC - Highroad | + 1'47 | 9 | Tony Gallopin | Cofidis, le Credit en Ligne | + 1'51 | 10 | Danny Pate | Garmin - Cervelo | + 1'52 |
Stage 4: Treignac - Limoges
1 | Arnaud Gérard | Ag2r La Mondiale | 4h46'41 | 2 | Dirk Bellemakers | Landbouwkrediet | s.t. | 3 | Florian Vachon | Bretagne - Schuller | s.t. | 4 | Jacopo Guarnieri | Liquigas - Cannondale | s.t. | 5 | Matthew Harley Goss | Garmin - Cervelo | s.t. | 6 | Dimitri Le Boulch | Big Mat - Auber 93 | s.t. | 7 | Ryder Hesjedal | Garmin - Cervelo | s.t. | 8 | Julien El Fares | Ag2r La Mondiale | s.t. | 9 | David Deroo | Saur - Sojasun | s.t. | 10 | Laurent Mangel | Saur - Sojasun | s.t. |
The breakaway just finished ahead of the close peloton. Quite a pity as Goss would have won the stage today as he was the fastest by far in the end surviving the hills.
Hesjedal wins the tour and is in a good form for the PT races.
1 | Ryder Hesjedal | Garmin - Cervelo | 15h49'00 | 2 | Rémi Pauriol | Team Movistar | + 41 | 3 | Dimitri Champion | Cofidis, le Credit en Ligne | + 1'24 | 4 | Vasil Kiryienka | Team Movistar | + 1'25 | 5 | Adam Hansen | Team HTC - Highroad | + 1'35 | 6 | Ben Day | Fly V Australia | + 1'37 | 7 | Julien El Fares | Ag2r La Mondiale | + 1'39 | 8 | Eduard Vorganov | Team HTC - Highroad | + 1'47 | 9 | Tony Gallopin | Cofidis, le Credit en Ligne | + 1'51 | 10 | Danny Pate | Garmin - Cervelo | + 1'52 |

Boom didn't win but certainly performed very well throughout, satisfying result defintely and Rosseler was defintely unbeatable.
As for the Tour de Limousin - awesome is the right word to use. Best preparation for Vuelta you can hope for, and the stage victories and GC shoudl boost the morale and fitness of Hesjedal even more before Vuelta. Should be challenge to repeat last year success, but with this form Hesjedal stands a big chance. |

Thanks tsmoha and Alakagom.
Indeed a good preparation. With Hesjedal`s disadvantage in time trials I don`t think he can do the podium in the Vuelta, but on the other hand he is fresher than some of the others. But I play on extreme. LLS victory was on hard.
But beforehead the PT classic GP Plouay.
The Grand Prix Ouest France is a very hilly one-day classic belonging to the UCI ProTour. It was first held in 1931 and named Grand Prix de Plouay Ouest-France until 1989. The route is on a ~20km long circuit with 11 laps. The riders have to pass three climbs on every lap. In Kerihuel (2,3 km, 8 %), Lezot (1,3 km; 7 %) and in Ty Marrec (1,0 km; 7 %).
Several riders share the record of two wins. Philippe Bono, Armand Audaire, Emile Guérinel, Jean Gainche, Fernand Picot, Jean Jourden, Jacques Bossis und Gilbert Duclos-Lassalle.
Result in 2011
1 | Philippe Gilbert | Liquigas - Cannondale | 6h34'21 | 2 | Damiano Cunego | Lampre-ISD | + 54 | 3 | Fränk Schleck | Team Leopard Trek | s.t. | 4 | Francesco Ginanni | Lampre-ISD | + 1'25 | 5 | Enrico Gasparotto | Astana | s.t. | 6 | Thomas Lövkvist | Sky Professional Cycling Team | s.t. | 7 | Alexander Kolobnev | Team Katusha | s.t. | 8 | Jérôme Pineau | Quick Step - Innergetic | s.t. | 9 | Paul Martens | Rabobank | s.t. | 10 | Sylvain Chavanel | Quick Step - Innergetic | s.t. |
No Garmin rider there as Kessiakoff was the best perfomer here as strong 12th for him. Gilbert with his second win after 2010. In 2012 he aims the triple.
Garmin squad in 2012
Hesjedal and Vansummeren will lead us here. Different to last year we have a leader in a great shape and so Hesjedal is aiming for the podium.
He will have lots of strong helpers therefore.

Good luck at GP Plouay!
btw: Do you already know, which Vuelta-edition you will play? Pellizotti2's variant is not finished yet.. this would be the variant, I would like to play most in my story

Plouay - Plouay
Up and down non stop. A pretty hard and long race. Gilbert of course the top favourite after winning in the last 2 years. But also his team mate Sagan is a good bet if group will sprint for the decision.
Hesjedal will have to attack as he isn`t such a good sprinter.
Several riders in the break of the day. It`s not very probably that they will have success but you never know.
Lampre with a very strong squad (Basso, Cunego, Nibali, Ginanni) and Ag2r for Roche are doing the pace in the peloton. The big teams with the main favourites are still waiting.
Close to the half of the race 4 riders with an attack. These 4 are much stronger than the riders in the break and a serious threat.
Rohregger (NetApp), Gerrans (Farnese), Taaramäe (Cofidis) and Cataldo (Quick).
Later these 4 joined the breakaway and are doing most work now.
The peloton is a few minutes behind but still chances to catch them.
Movistar (Cobo, Pauriol) and Liquigas (Gilbert, Sagan) are doing the pace now. Immediately the advance is melting.
Meanwhile just the 4 strong puncheurs are in the leading group as none of the former breakaway was able to follow their high pace.
The 4 riders are almost caught and Visconti with a first attack on the last 20km. Sagan follows him and this is a very big threat now.
They were able to join the group, but also the peloton is coming closer. This attack was just not powerful enough.
Last lap and Gilbert attacks on the longest climb. Hesjedal still feels good and tries to follow. Also Pauriol, Cobo and Visconti are accelerating. The peloton now splits a bit.
But none of them were able to beat Gilbert. He was the only one that created a real gap to the peloton and takes the 3rd straight win. Very well done by the Belgium.
In the peloton Gerdemann was surprisingly the strongest. Maybe we will see him in a good form as Vuelta leader? Gasparotto takes the 3rd ahead of Chavanel and Hesjedal, who missed to podium quite close but also the 5th in such a strong start list is very good for the Canadian and he at least outsprinted Sagan and Visconti today.

Thanks tsmoha, I will play Pellizotti`s. I added the first 18 stages in the DB yesterday and might play the first stage later today. Then I will have the startlist and will do the presentation.
For the last 3 stages I might take well suited stages if they won`t be finished in time. |

Okay Maybe he will finish it as soon as he sees your Vuelta starting! And great result with Hesjedal at Plouay! He may not be a podium-favourite at Vuelta, but he's definitely motivated and in shape!

Thanks all. It was indeed a nice month with some good results.
Things are getting easier again in the late season.
The Vuelta Ciclista a España is the last Grand Tour of the cycling season. It was first held in 1935 and since 1955 annually.
As the other two GT`s the race will have some flat stages for the sprinters, some hilly stages for breakaways and some mountain stages for the favourites plus 2 time trials. As the route is normally very hilly, the real climber are often the biggest favourites and the timetrials aren`t that important than in the Tour de France.
The final stage is normally on a flat stage in Madrid.
With 3 wins each the Spaniard Roberto Heras and the Suisse Tony Rominger hold the record.
Most stage wins with 39 has Delio RodrÃguez in the early years.
Result in 2011

Last Vuelta was just brilliant for our team. We won about half of all stages with Sanchez and Rojas. And also Kessiakoff (74mo) finished as luxury teammate on a very strong 7th!
Let`s try to repeat this as good as possible with Hesjedal and with more luck even with Kessiakoff.
Garmin squad in 2012
Hesjedal will be our leader with Peterson and Kessiakoff being his biggest domestiques in the mountains. Rojas will go for more stage wins. With Maaskant, Dao and Fischer he got some nice support there.
Van der Velde and Kreder have some kind of a free role. They are free to join the breakaways but they also have to get bottles for the team.

Again the startlist isn`t that weak with names like Contador or Vandenbroeck. But let` s see how good they are in shape after a long season.
But one thing is for sure. Euskaltel in their home GT without their leaders. Intxausti and Fernandez will go for stage wins probably.
Favourites will get an own post as always in GT`s.

Favourites
Overall
Who else but Contador should be the top favourite. Last year he was 2nd behind Sanchez, but these 5 minutes were due to Sanchez`s time trial skills. (59)
Jurgen Van Den Broeck is the rider that comes the Spaniard very close with his skills. But it depends on the form of course. But it could be the first GT win for him. (50)
Scarponi won the Giro but is he fit again for the Vuelta?
He isn`t as good as the first two in the mountains but he is really a fighter. (60)
Richie Porte is one of three possible Leopard leaders. He is definitely the strongest in the mountains and time trials, but also Evans and Gerdemann, who just showed a solid form, could get a top10 result. (65)
Van Garderen proved in the Giro 2011, that he is a possible podium aspirant. Since then he became even stronger and could also fight for the overall win with a bit of luck. (61)
Ryder Hesjedal will keep his great form over the whole 3 weeks. That might be his biggest advantage. But therefore he lacks in time trials and also in the mountains if all of them are in top form. But some of the others aren`t. (38)
Jerome Coppel is a big question mark. He could get a top5, but therefore he needs to prove that he can ride on a high level over 3 weeks. (53)
Damiano Cunego, winner of the Giro 2010 is also a rider to take care of. He won`t win here probably but the podium is possible. (52)
Since his Tour de France win in 2010 he lost more and more of his skills. Denis Menchov is getting older, but it might be enough for a top 10. (53)
Last but not least Intxausti. Instead of Anton and Sanchez Euskaltel is sending their 3rd best climber into the race, Quite strange tactical move, but well, he might go for a top 10 overall or a stage win. (42)

Sprinters
Greipel is the best sprinter in the peloton and will go for stage wins. So far he was often behind Cavendish. Now he has the chance to ride on his own.
Rojas Gil proved with his stage wins last year, that he can compete with the best. This year he will repeat this and end his successful time with Garmin.
Allan Davis is a fast man with nice hill stats. So he is always a good bet for any possible sprint finish.
Steegmans will be one of two RadioShack sprinters with good chances for stage wins.
The other one is Tom Leezer. He improved very well over the last 3 years and is one of the favourites in the flat stages.
Gerald Ciolek of the wildcard team NetApp is their strongest rider in the squad and the only one with good stage win chances. The rest of the squad is pretty weak.
Peter Sagan might not be the fastest in the end, but he is the best climber of all sprinters. So he will go for harder sprint finishes with less sprinters and also take later stages when other riders already felt out of the time limit.
U25
Hard to believe that Van Garderen is still under 25. He is of course the big favourite for this ranking.
Steven Kruijswijk already had the jersey for a long time in the Giro. Now he wants to win it in the Vuelta. It would be a big success for him as also a top15 result.
Not that probably but Peter Sagan is one of the 3 realistic contenders in this ranking. |

Great presentations as ever. Looking very intresting this Vuelta, with very good variant too.
How many days Contador and JVdB raced already ? Might be important factor in the third week. |
