krisa - Let's hope he can do the same
Ollfardh - Don't know if they brought the team shrink, though
dienblad - Thanks! Back to hard indeed, does it show? But also the abandonment of Cau (he had national bonus) and the bad form of Degenkolb, he's never around for the sprint. |

Giro d‘Italia - Stage 15
Final day before the rest day!
Stijn: With quite some mountain stages to come, I need to secure that jersey! I'll try to get intermediate points today.
Willy: I need to start gaining time if I want to win this Giro!
Stijn Van Gent
If I wanted those points, I had to go for it. Attack!
I got joined by a small group, which worked out fine. We got away and the intermediate sprint was nearing.
Nobody was really interested in the points so I easily picked them up.
I dropped right out of the group and went number one while waiting for the peloton.
Willy Wouters
The pace was kept high all through the race, it wasn't long until Uran was isolated. I decided to put some pressure on him and attacked!
But he's a mountain goat. He didn't cave. When Machado went, I tried some mental warfare and dared Uran to the counter-attack.
I was waiting for someone to crack. But I didn't expect it to be me. Something's not right, my form is not as it was during the Tour of 2014. I'm in 7th position in this picture.
Italy has reasons to celebrate. I hang on to my third place, but it's getting ridiculous.

Willy: Well. It's not good. A deficit of more than 2 minutes. Today is a rest day, but tomorrow is the MTT. I'm not a religious man, but I'm praying for my legs to return. I hope they return in time for me to do something here. If I still want to win this, something drastic has to happen!
See you tomorrow,
Stijn & Willy |

Things are upside down now, Stijn finally found a way to win stages, but Willy is losing time

Come on Willy, cheer up now, we know you've got it in you!
And use Voigt's wise words: ''Shut up Legs!'', maybe that helps?

Miguel98 - Sure is. First stop losing time, than start gaining time, with not much time left, see?
PCM rulezz - It's waiting for a GT where they both stand out
Jesleyh - Maybe Voigt should come in as a personal coach
sutty68 - He'll try his best!
alex344 - Hope so, too. MTT should suit him either way!
wogsrus - Got that right.
Jakstar22 - Let's hope so, thanks!
krisa - Damn Colombian and Portuguese, we'll get them
Thanks for all the support. I'll be going for a ride in the Flemish Ardennes today, so reports are for later! Will probably do at least one today, though! |

Giro d‘Italia - Stage 16
The Mountain Time Trial!
Stijn: Day after the rest day, nothing big to do for me today.
Willy: An important day for the GC. This is my area to play!
Stijn Van Gent
I had a normal day. But the Points Jersey will be hard to defend. The final two stages have to go almost perfectly for me to hang on to it!
Willy Wouters
I started with great motivation and big hopes today!
But it wasn't my day, once again. My legs felt so heavy, and the crowd was real distracting. I almost took a fall when a lady and a guy with a flag stood there on the road, screaming something in some weird language.
Machado was breathing down my neck, he wouldn't crack. Then there was this guy with the flag that bothered me a lot, making me more nervous.
Willy: Well. It's soon, but I'm going to have to prepare to admit defeat. Those two are just a cut above me, on a whole other level. I thought I was ready to win a Grand Tour, but I was wrong. I'm not a quitter and I won't stop until the final stage, but with five stages left to go, I don't see many chances to recover 3 minutes on those two.
See you tomorrow,
Stijn & Willy |
