What you on about that was the greatest tour in history, Basso's masterclass on how to crack everyone on a climb whilst looking like he doesn't have a care in the world. Poetry in motion

This Giro has been good to watch one of the strongest starting fields around. Ok maybe not all of them on top form. Great win for Contador he may not of won a stage but his all round ability came through in the end. I must admit i expected more from some of the other riders like levi and kloden. There was only a few things that could of been better like CSC could of sent a stronger team. I was delighted to see Cav do well. I just hope we dont have any stories of riders doping coming out in the next few weeks to take away from a Giro i really enjoyed watching. Lets hope the Tour is a great watch too. Shame contador cannot defend but should still have a strong starting field. |

how the hell Contador managed to win this on he's weak form.. Ricco is bussy. Dont know about Leipheimer ..but Klöden was hugh dissapoitment ..and all that after he was just in great shape.
Climber's had chanches to drop Contador..specialy in second weekend.. Like grandfather Simoni didnt undrestand..what a hell matter with you boys..where is youth energy. Old guy like me should atack..and start something.
Not as booring Giro but low class for shure.
Sprinters show was great . |

This does not bode well for the next few years if contador can win a very strong GC while very unprepared

Well at the moment there is no one else out there in contadors class. basso will return next year but who knows what races will except him and what shape he will be in. Andy Schleck has the potential to maybe match contador. Also be interesting to see gesink develop in next year |

Oh well. Contador won his 2nd Grand Tour in row, but he will definitely not win the Tour de France. Can't wait for July B) |

Unless ASO do an RCS.
If it did happen, I guess Contador would be more out of shape in July and perhaps would not ride or would not have a chance overall. |

Hehe but I don't think that ASO will do a RCS ..
They are more stubborn ..
I'm really looking forward to TdF too .. It will be really exciting |

same here..dont think so...and even after Giro..wich wasnt so great at all. They dont need to do that desperate move to beat Giro ..who is best tour competition. |

Sprinters show was great . How? Because the Giro riders simply are of a far lower class then Tour riders. All these Italian dudes who have won the Giro recently NEVER do well in the Tour de France. It's simply another sort of race. The mountains in France are not so steep and therefore more suited to time triallers like Contador and less for pure climbers like Ricco, Simoni, etc... |

I wouldn't put it that way.
In the Giro you usually meet the first semi-mountain or mountain stages after a couple of days. In the TDF you need to wait for almost 10 days most of times. TT riders cope with flat stages way better than pure climbers.
As for Klöden, it's not that much the slopes that made him go back in the GC, he's not heavier or bigger than any pure climber. He simply never did very well on long and hard mountain stages, no matter that it was in the TDF or here, never did too well in classics either, no wonder, especially given that he is targeted by every one, his team, UCI, WADA because of the blood passport.
Giro wattages are usually as high as TDF ones, the level is quite the same for the two races. Italians riding both the same season are usually peaking for the Giro and riding the Tour with what they've got left. |

ok ..no TdF for pure climber. But there is exeptions..Pantani..yes I know Rasmussen get some solo ride time advantage. But managed also keep it.
I agree with Aquarius Italians think Giro first..after that we will see. |

Rabobank says that Menchov was ill during the Marmolada and Kronplatz stages and that they're disappointed at Brown. apparently Brown showed up unfit |

haha browns a dead man walking
I dont care if we have to wait 10 days for the first climb in the TDF, because the race in general is so much better, its the race that attracts all the riders to the sport including me...
The giro mountains were nothing special anyway, the breakaway always won!.. and we had to wait at least 2 weeks for the first real mountain stages anyway!!!

I'm glad Brown's days seem numbered - he is a dangerous (and second-rate) sprinter. Rabo could do much better. |

they do. they've got the best sprinter in the world
but I agree, they could do with a less temperamental, more talented guy, with the bonus of being less of a jackass.
Wanna bet Brown's replaced after this year? |
