issoisso you're 100% right. Well actually, nearly.
Most English teams do employ the "kick an chase" or "target man" approach, and for the lower leagues, that's fine, because that's as good as they are. In the Prem, some teams do that, but not every single one. They do try to play good football, and it's not all punting for most of the teams. Some play ugly football, some play great football.
And secondly, I know its debatable about which league is best, but I refuse to admit Italian football is better than English. The Italians score a goal and then play keep ball, which is ridiculously boring

the other way around. they have the best goalkeepers and some good defenders (there are countries with better defenders) BECAUSE they're so defensive.

I don't find italian football boring, because I don't watch just because of skills. the tactical game is very important for me. simplicity is boring to me. but I wasn't speaking of myself.
long ball is normal in lower tiers. over here it's used by most teams that aren't in one of the first two tiers. but it's a question of what you're used to. you're used to the long ball, so you have a much more liberal consideration for the definition of "non-long-ball-game". the same way the greeks are so used to dry weather that the slightest whimper of rain is considered a downpour.
by most other people's standards, every single english team play the long ball.
the problem is in essence this:

Even Arsenal who are supposed to play short passing football, in fact do not much more than exchange a few short passes before - you guessed it - punting the ball into the box
you are so used to long ball that you consider that to be short passing, when in fact it's lounging around the ball in midfield and then throwing it in front of the goal.
I saw the second half of the Community Shield today. the entire 45 minutes that was what happened. short pass...short pass...short pass...short pass...then hit it quickly into the box. there "that's short passing". here it's not.

the theory of relativity my friend
the bottom line is that you enjoy your football!
the whole starting point for this argument was because Lucho made comments about the english league and above all the english press

Just watched the Charity shield, and remembered my intense dislike for Cristiano Ronaldo - he's got better with his skills and playing now, but he has still imported diving to a new level in this league, and he could only do step overs in the 1st season.
So here is a short information film on how to play like Ronaldo:

But none are as bad as Ronaldo
And I'm fairly sure there has been a rise in diving since his arrival

Man City just keeps on buying (Bresciano tbis time) but of course alot of players have to pay for that now, some of the older guys such as Mills, Dickov and Dabo have to leave and also youngers guys such as Schmeichel jr. and Samaras (hope feyenoord buys him lol, but wont happen) are allowed to leave

Samaras is crap, he can leave as far as i'm concerned,
i really don't want Schmeichel to go, but Mills, Dickov and Dabo can go also

Well Samaras was a good player at Heerenveen, a real goalgetter, but I guess that the Premier League is just not his league

no it wasn't his league
but i just checked and it turns out he scored 11 in 58 games last season that is very surprising as we scored only once at home and didn't do to good away either

oh no sorry i got muddled up, Man City didn't score a single goal at home from New Years day to the end of the season, and
In the 2006-07 season City struggled to score goals, particularly at home. The team created a new record for the fewest goals scored at home in a season in the top flight (beating Sunderland's 14 in 2002-03 and Woolwich Arsenal's 11 in 1912-13), scoring only 10 goals
that's how well the season went at home

Maybe Samaras scored like 8 of his 11 goals in the FA cup or League cup?
