It's hardcoded into the game, so I doubt that it's possible to remove it. |

Hello everybody! Since pcm 2010 is so bugged (and I'd need a new pc to really appreciate its graphics) I'm still playing with the old 2009... I installed the pcm daily 2010 pack, and I think it's great, but I'd like to add a few variants (not in a savegame but permanently), in order to improve its longevity... I'm trying to understand how variants work, what files do I need to modify and whether or not I have to do something on the db... Can somebody help me? Thank you! |

Variants are added with xml files that can be opened with Notepad - no DB editing is required.
Open up Program Files/Cyanide/PCM/CM_Stages/variant. You will notice that there are two types of files: those ending with .descr and those ending with .rules.
The .rules file defines when each variant is used. The .descr file is a description of the route, stage-by-stage, including the file name and the stage settings (wind, time gap, mountain/hill ratio etc.).
To add a variant, copy the .descr file and give it a new number (if you're copying a file called _03.descr, name the new one 04_descr). Fill out the details for each stage. When done, open the .rules file.
Now, there are two ways of deciding which variant to be used. If you want the same variants to be used year after year, set the same number in VariantMin and VariantMax. For example, if you want your variant to be used, set it to 4.
If you want a random selection of one of the four variants, set it to 1 in VariantMin and 4 in VariantMax.
I'm not sure how familiar you are with editing, but try opening the two files and see how it works out for you. If you need any additional help, feel free to ask again. |

I took a look at the files, and I think I understood how it works... Unfortunately now I have another problem: I downloaded a lot of new versions of races (especially from the Diablo pack https://www.cycling-manager.eu/forum/i...andi-giri/), but all files are in "custom tour" format, so I miss these parameters: distance, uphillsprint and dirwind. How can I fix this? |

You can see the distance and stage profile by opening the stage files with a tool such as RSM Profiler.
The uphill sprint is quite simple: If the stage finishes uphill, set it to 0,7.
Dirwind - set it to 999 for all stages unless you want the wind to come from a set angle which I suppose you don't. |

Another little question: I'd like to add a variant for a race that doesn't have one; I'd like the game to alternate my variant and the first season race. How can I do? |

Well, it's done in the same way. You just have to create the first set of .rules and .descr yourself. The race name prefix can be found in STA_race -> gene_sz_variant (or something like that). |

What do you mean by "can't"? Just select the line of the team and press 'Delete' on your keyboard. |

You do know that saving is not enough, right? You have to export the DB. |

No, I thought I could export after editing all tables and then export all. It's the first time I use this tool. And when I try to export, it sometimes crash |

I have overcome this problem but I have another question. With PCM 10, the values from valkue_i_nationalism could be 1 - 4 or 1,2,3 and 25 for very nationalistic? |

Another "batch" of questions. I am editing DYN_cyclist and DYN_teams. As the DB is of 1973, I edited also STA_nations, as I had to delete Kazakhystan, Estonia, Croatia,... and put USSR and Yugoslavia.
But aboyt DYN_team; I would like to know the meaning and what to do (or not to do) with these columns:
- gene_licID_trademark
- gene_licID_abbreviation
- gene_licID_shortname
- fkIDrace
- rank_i_last_year
- rank_i_transfer
- financy_i_race_income
- prerace_i_team
- gene_b_selected
- CONSTANT
- fkIDbest_leader
- fkIDtype_rider_orientation1
- fkIDtype_rider_orientation2
- fkIDtype_rider_orientation3
- gene_ilist_young_area
- fkIDteam_type
- finan_f_solde
- finan_f_sponsor_fee
- gene_list_fkIDfavorite_races
- fkIDcalendar1
- fkIDcalendar2
- value_f_current_evaluation

Use the existing teams as a base - if a column has a zero in it, it's very likely that your added team also needs to have a zero.
What you need to be aware of is:
- fkIDtype_rider_orientation1
- fkIDtype_rider_orientation2
- fkIDtype_rider_orientation3
--> What kind of riders the team will try to sign. Can be set to 1 (Stage Races), 4 (Sprinter), 5 (Hilly Classics) and 6 (Cobble Riders).
- gene_ilist_young_area
--> In which countries the teams will scout riders. List of areas can be found in STA_newrider_area.
- gene_list_fkIDfavorite_races
--> You do not need to fill this out, but if you do, it's for impacting the team goals. If you want one race to appear more often in the team goals than another, enter it hre. List of races can be found in STA_race.
- fkIDcalendar1
- fkIDcalendar2
--> Where the teams will ride. Areas can be found in STA_calendar. |
