Season 2009 is over.
Here are few pictures to make image, what happened during whole year.
UCI Pro Tour
Most point, very surprisingly, gained Spanish proffesional Joaquim Rodriguez. Paradoxical is that he could celebrate only 3 wins through the season - stage wins at Tour de l´Ain and Vuelta a Espana and overall win at Vuelta a Espana.
Team Columbia won team competition, whilst two French teams, Francaise des Jeux and Bbox Boyugues Telecom have relegated to Continental Tour.
Continental Tour
Danilo di Luca took win here, closely followed by Bobby Traksel. King of first half of season Thor Hushovd finished 3rd. My best riders Nico Eeckhout and Jan Ghyselinck took great 16th and 19th place. Well done!
Vacansoleil and Cerverlo got promoted to UCI Pro Tour, my team finished on 11th place. It´s a shame, I´ve hoped for TOP10 long time.
Finally, everything in one picture
Most interesting transfers + presentation of my team 2010 (including all fresh faces) will follow stepwise in several days.

An Post - Sean Kelly team : Season 2010, preview
Part 1
Well, it´s time to talk about season 2. First, few rules.
1) I´ll play on extreme level of difficulty.
2) I won´t use downhill attack before finish, taking stage win. Using of this, when I´ll need to catch up escapees or (in worse case) peloton is allowed.
3) I won´t make reports from lesser races, as I´m planning to participate more in bigger ones.
4) rules 1 and 2 can´t be changed
Now few words about my team and goals. I have 20 riders for upcoming season, short presentation will follow.
Goals are looking comfortable to reach, hope I´m not wrong Only goals relating of Britain Tour are real challenge. My personal goal is quite harder, I want to fight for promotion!!

Part 2
New signing.
2009 results - nothing.
2010 team role - young rider, need improvement. Should work as team mate in future.

2009 results - nothing.
2010 team role - young rider, need improvement. He´s possibly future star of cobble races.
He is back after releasing in July.
2009 results - nothing.
2010 team role - young rider without any chance to improve his abilities. He will fill his role of team mate.
2009 results - nothing.
2010 team role - good team mate without any personal ambitions.
2009 results - nothing.
2010 team role - good team mate without any personal ambitions.
2009 results - 1st Tour de Delta (2.2), stage 1
2nd Tour de Delta (2.2), overall classification
3rd Tour of Wellington (2.2), stage 6
2010 team role - good team member with nice time trial skill. He could be given by role of team leader in some small race.
Part 3 and probably most interesting Part 4 would follow tomorrow...

Part 2
2009 results - 1st Tour de Taiwan (2.2), stage 7
1st Tour de Taiwan (2.2), overall classification
2st Tour de Taiwan (2.2), stage 6
3rd Tour de Taiwan (2.2), stage 3
3rd Tour de Taiwan (2.2), stage 4
3rd Tour de Taiwan (2.2), stage 5
2010 team role - good team member. He could be given by role of team leader in some small race or could try to take some stage victory anywhere.
2009 results - nothing
2010 team role - good team member. Although he has nice sprinter skill, he is suffering
with low stamina and can´t be appointed as main sprinter in bigger races. He will got his chance in some smaller though.
2009 results - nothing
2010 team role - he is able to protect main leader until finish, it will be his main task through whole season. He could be prized by role of free rider several times, to try to steal some stage victory though.
New signing.
2009 results - nothing
2010 team role - he has signed as free rider, last season protected stars from Quickstep. His role in our team would be similar. It´s almost sure, he will get chance as leader as well.
New signing, come from Plowman Craven.
2009 results - 2nd Tour de Taiwan (2.2), stage 8
2010 team role - he will mostly protect team leaders, but sometimes he should have free role.
2009 results - 2nd Rogaland GP (1.2)
3rd La Due Giorni Marchigiana (1.2)
3rd Scandinavian Open (1.2)
2010 team role - similar case as De Schrooder, his main advantage is better flat skill, giving him role of sprinter in flat races. Otherwise he will work as team mate.
2009 results - 1st Tour of Wellington (2.2), stage 2
1st Tour de Taiwan (2.2), stage 1
1st Tour of Ireland (2.1), stage 5
1st Scandinavian Open (1.2)
2nd Tour of Wellington (2.2), stage 4
2nd Tour of Ireland (2.1), overall classification
2nd Halle - Ingooigem (1.1)
2nd Druivenkoers - Overijse (1.1)
3rd Le Tour de Langkawi (2.HC), stage 1
3rd Tour de Taiwan (2.2), stage 6
3rd Tour of Ireland (2.1), stage 4
2010 team role - our "spiritual" leader, probably riding his last season. He is 39 and his skills will probably drop down during upcoming season. He will be appointed as leader, sprinter, free rider and even team mate in some races.
Last part (with some new signings) will be posted later today or tomorrow. |
