Giro of Italy 2007

I dont think Simoni wanted it, seeing as he only gained 50 seconds on Di LUca (with time bonus). He let Peipoli do all the work and then disbatched Schleck with so much ease; I think if Simoni really wanted it he would have attacked at least a kilometer out. Di Luca did his homework and now the maglia rosa is the reward.

I think it was a bit annoying by Di Luca to get pulled up by Cunego and then zip past him at the end. But he is in the Pink Jersey and they can do that.

Thomas
Well, I dont think it has the same effect to sit behind a rider on a mountain..

Well i wasn't talking about slipstreaming i know that its doesn't affect you much on a moutain but, you can still get pulled up when you behind someone.

I guess this might be Gibo's swansong...he was speaking before the stage of "never coming back for the GC, only to help someone else for the overall"

it's a bit frustrating when the GC battle gets locked up so far from the end...

Actually, Corriere dello Sport. an Italian newspaper, has said in today's edition that CONI has reopened Mazzo and Di Luca's cases. It's only rumours, though.

i hope (for Di Luca's sakes anyway) that they are only rumours, i wouldn't want him to have his title taken away from him, if he does win this years Giro as it looks he will

Jepp thats true..also lets speculate: Ricco (greedy young rider has told to leave Saunier and speculation in already out..that he gonna sign with much wealthy team Milram do get 1 mil. euro sallary per. year). Saunier is very symphathetic team for me I hope for next year Giro to see Piepoli as good form as he is this year and gonna fight to GC ,and old friend Simoni gonna "bay his debt" and gonna help him (nice dream isnt it?)

I dont liked today Cunego act ...how he was draging Di Luca and we lost a chanche to see non italian (A.Schleck) possible win in Giro. Of course he fighted for podium place...but I belive Di Luca had lost about 20...30 second more without Cunegos help.

And what a beatiful stage..nice mountain in the end..absolute delicacy for cycling fan.

I think final podium might include Cunego, look back to last year when he did wind tunnel testing and he had that great performance in the Tour TT. He is only 1 minute back from a podium spot, so he could really put down the hammer. Who knows? Di Luca's TT skills are bad at best, Simoni's are just all out horrible, and Schleck is the big unkown. It will be fun. Remember still guys: there is a rather mountainous/hilly stage left if anyone wants to try something.

This thing is over. Di Luca's won it as long as he stays upright and out of legal problems. I dont care how good schleck and cunego's TT skills have improved. They ain't taking 2+ mins off of the killer when he's starting behind them.

Young Andy should be decent TT rider. But Di Luca got enough time cap.Final podium may be 1.Di Luca 2. Schleck 3. Cunego

Petacchi wins! And he went to the front a long way back.

SportingNonsense
Richeze 2nd, Breschel 3rd, Fothen 4th.

There arent really many sprinters left to contest Petacchi except Richeze but he hasn't got the support of a Milram train

Theres Bettini, but he had to avoid the Ag2r riders' crash and sat up.

allez21
Yeah that was a nasty crash, one of the Ag2R boys crashed into the barrier standing up, very odd. But you're right about Bettini

SportingNonsense
I think Tiralongo's Bike just broke as it went into the corner so he slid to the side and the Ag2r rider couldnt avoid him. Bettini was very lucky to avoid it himself.

It was quite funny how bad the wilier bike was smashed up (well not for the rider) he was forced to walk to the finish.

CrueTrue
Didn't see the finish. What happened today?

Umm... very crazy. No one at all was able to get controll of the sprint, not even Milram. So it was a free-for-all with Tinkoff, Ag2r, Milram, C.A. trying to win. With 500 meters left the Ag2r riders took a corner way too fast and 2 of them plus a Lampre boy went down; this forced Bettini to slow down and he was out of the sprint. Next, Gerolstiener launched the sprint-- it looked like Petacci went to early and Richeze was going to win but alas, Ale Jet got his 4th stage win.
