I will be looking forward to following the hearing closely. But as someone else pointed out earlyer. Shouldn't they have a look at Contador as well? Or are they affraid of revealing the Giro winner as a cheater? |

My French isn't the best - does this mean that CONI will start a disciplinary case against Valverde?

This is great news. Finally!
Not to mention:
"However he suggested that other sportsmen might be summoned to Rome"
"There's another 90 bags of blood and not just those of cyclists."
I love CONI. |

That all telling us how smart guy Basso was..take the minimum penalty and you will get off this burden. At least you will get another chanche..now on Valverde will be stupid enough dening everything..
And like Mike already says there is 90 bags left..lets take them all down. |

That is also hugh subject I have been fighting years for now against other stupid estonian forum members ..who think that cycling is one and only doping hole. I am not revenge person..but now I realy hope that wining tennis stars and mostly football players will get also some penaltys.
And hey Isso you can take Valverde name down at your list..give us another one.

Its a shame that other sports will go out their way to protect their 'image'. How many athletes from 'bigger' sports do you actually think will be summoned? I mean, it could happen, but I bet somehow it won't... |

Same here, but it's been hard to deny he wasn't involved ever since 'valv.piti' became public knowledge. |

well italians have so far lost enough "blood"..Ricco, Piepoli, Basso, Mazzoleni etc.
You would like to see more italians also in Puerto case? Fair enough.
But I would like to see first Giro positive test. |

To be fair, the only italians that seemed to be involved were Basso, Scarponi, Bartoli and maybe Caruso.
The first two were already suspended
As for other nationalities....

Armstrong confirmed yesterday that he'll be riding the Tour of Ireland. Rather huge news for a small race like that.
And in other news about dopeheads, Bild has managed to get the 70 page long documents about what Jörg Jaksche has said about Operation Puerto when being investigated.
From what I've read so far, nothing new compared to what he's publically said. Basically the same stuff about organized team doping at CSC in 2004, Riis advicing how to avoid doping controls, how to micro manage EPO, etc. |

More doping news, VDB is describing the cycling 90's in a Belgian magazine. As with the Jaksche stories, there's nothing new except that he's quite honest.
E.g., he sounds jealous about not being offered the products that Gewiss used - they were the EPO-pioneers, he says, mentioning Furlan, Berzin and Argenti. He'd have loved to be the first to try out a new product, but he never was. Other riders were offered the new products first.
He also says that doping doesn't really make a difference since the elite is taking the same products anyway. And that he, at a time, was the best since he managed to beat Cassani and Berzin even though they were both 'pumped up' by Ferrari and Cecchini, having a hematocrit value of 60 % while his was only 42. He says himself that that day, that stage win at Mont Faron in 1994 was his best performance ever.
He then goes on to tell about the LBL victory that he got in 1999. He says that he won it 'honestly', saying that he know with 100 % certainty that he didn't use any products that his rivals didn't use. They all used the same and therefore fought on equal terms - and he won, meaning that he was the best. Thereby, he implies that the top riders in LBL 1999 were doped:
1. Franck Vandenbroucke (Belgium) Cofidis 6.25.36
2. Michael Boogerd (Holland) Rabobank
3. Maarten Den Bakker (Holland) Rabobank
4. Michele Bartoli (Italy) Mapei-Quick Step
5. Paolo Bettini (Italy) Mapei-Quick Step
It was a fun read |
