if that did happen, surely all other riders would burn and Bennati would take the easiest Giro win of all time If Vansevenant didn't retire he will be late and he will take 2nd place |

...Like David Millar.
The italian press have been doing all they can for a year or more to brainwash people into thinking Basso is a crusader against doping....when Basso has done jack squat.
It's annoying. |

ZDF has said that they are not going to show Tour de France on German television if Armstrong is allowed to start. |

It's annoying. Basso beat his best time in a mountain around his home by 40 seconds (on approximately 30 minutes I reckon), that's what it takes to quit doping and start training.

The 2009 race programme of Lance Armstrong is becoming clearer, as the American will participate in the Giro d'Italia. The three week-race runs from May 9 through May 31, 2009.
Armstrong told Gazzetta dello Sport that he was looking forward to the Corsa Rosa. "I can't wait until May, I have never participated in the Giro. Finally I will be able to change this."
Armstrong had previously announced that he will ride the Tour Down Under and the Tour of California.
His announcement of racing the Giro may be an indication that Armstrong's teammate, Alberto Contador, will be the protected rider in the Tour de France. The Tour de France is Contador's only objective for the season.
Armstrong made a surprise return to professional racing in September this year.
+ Giro Press Conference tomorrow. |

Think that makes Contador more of a likely leader in the Tour? |

Why is this announcement "important news"? It was obvious he was going there.
This is all the times Ullrich went to the Giro all over again...Zomegnan gets his chest full of air, everyone debates whether he can win and whether it'll affect his Tour performance....
Then the rider shows up, does a few stages, scratches one ball....does a few more stages at the back of the peloton, scratches another ball.....wins a time trial, then finishes in 120th overall or retires after two weeks and calls it excellent training for the Tour.
Boring. |

According to VeloNews and La Gazzetta, Armstrong has implied that the Giro will be his main focus next season, and he hopes to win. |

Indeed, that's what I got out of it too. Seems Armstrong wants to win the Giro. |

If that turns out to be true and not just another one in the huuuuuuuge line of Bruyneel lies, then that's equal parts awful and awesome.
I'm torn.
So basically this puts Vino's "I want to go for the Giro" ideas in the gutter |

No retroactive CERA testings for this year Giro's samples, as nothing was found earlier (when the test wasn't ready), sleep well cheaters. Then they invite Armstrong, who didn't even expect that much.
What a good message RCS are sending.
Why does every one care that much about a retired and old rider who was caught unofficially a couple of times ?
I can't see this as a good thing. |

Using tests on old outdated samples is very suspicious as well. |

The only good thing that is coming out of him riding the giro, as he might ride the tour de georgia as a tune up.
