Mission Accomplished in 2020: What's next for Philips?
With the 2020 season now ending, it's time to say goodbye from this HQ and look ahead to the new season and new possibilities. But before that, we would like to take some time to reflect on the year gone by.
2020 was a year like none before, and for us at Philips, it was perhaps the most important one since we were formed in 2017. Yes, we have raced in CT before, and yes we had two further years of experience at a higher level, but relegation shook us up somewhat. 2020 asked for a no-nonsense kind of season, and the team delivered.
Right from transfers, we'd like to think we played our cards right, bringing in the right personnel to tackle the CT calendar, and sending them, mostly, to the right races. We had the occasional under-performance but our riders mostly performed at or above par. All this culminated in us achieving our foremost goal of securing immediate promotion back to PCT. We also achieved 3 out of 5 season goals, which should help us get a good footing in our restart in the PCT.
With Philips having backed us despite our fall last year, we are delighted that we could repay their faith in us. As such, it makes us really happy to announce that they have decided to extend with us for two more seasons! As such, our focus will remain in the Netherlands. Our extended focus on trying to work with the best riders that fit our purpose remains as well.
Recent developments also indicate that we will be saying goodbye to our longtime friends at Unilever, who have supported us though thick and thin. It was a pleasure having them as secondary sponsor, despite them not being on our team title. Let's see if the future ever allows us to work together again.
We can also confirm now that we are in the final steps of bringing in another sponsor who has been on our radar for quite some time now but things had never quite worked out. Some of you will know this sponsor from a different sport, where they operated for a 11 year period with moderate success but immense popularity! We cannot divulge the full details at the moment, but the final confirmation is expected soon.
For now, we are signing off from our 2020 HQ. See you soon, in what hopefully will be the next step in our team's progress...
