Most likely surprise of the day: Ciolek

Most likely disappointment of the whole Tour: Sastre

Most likely "I told you so" moment: Cunego getting a decent result but nowhere near the overall win.

these are my thoughts right now.

@issoisso, Ciolek might be a surprise, but I dont think he has enugh experience etc. to do well, after all, he's the youngest rider in this Tour.
I think it will be Pozzato and Freire for sprint, Gilbert,Cancellara etc etc. for an attack today.

My prediction for the stage is Kim Kirchen. And I'll even throw out a mention to Frank Schleck, Im not sure if he has a strong enough kick, but he could be aiming for a good result today.

sure, there are a bunch of candidates, but it should be someone with some explosivity, such as a Freire or Pozzato, like you mentioned (although the climb seems too long for Pozzato), or Valverde, Gilbert, Ciolek, or one or two others. I can't see Kirchen, Sánchez or any of "those" winning. it's not a 10% climb, it's a slight steady rise. Riccò would be a decent pick, I'd think.

Cancellara? no way. the man weighs three tons, he can't cope with a climb.

I think its pretty set that its going to be a puncheur that will win. But i think there will be a few sprinters that will mix it in there. It going to come very quick to the riders and either way there will be a bit of confusion in the pack as they come to the line.

In Tour de Suisse he attacked on a little climb too, it was the last stage, along with Gilbert.

enjoying today's coverage. I really have no idea who will win, but i'm heading to Freire or Cancellara.. i'm putting my neck on the line.

Looking at Meteo France's website it doesn't look like the nice weather will stay, they are forcasting rain for the whole of the Bretange region.

here's a little tip for every native english speaker Wink

If it's not an english name, there's a 99.9% chance it's "EI" and not "IE"

If it goes to a sprint, people's chances for the stage in my opinion:

Steegmans: no chance, the finish is too tricky
McEwen: same as Steegmans, plus the hill just before the finish-line is a bitch.
Cavendish: no chance, because of the uphill finish.
Hushovd: maybe good enough for a top 5 but he won't win
Freire: definately a favourite, especially sprinting up the hill.
Pozzato: same as Freire

can't think of anyone else to challenge if it comes down to a sprint.

I think Valverde could be up there even if it is a mass-sprint, as he was a sprinter initially, and no one doubts his abilities on hills

I suppose we should always think about the oppurtunity of someone moving off the front and making it up the climb by theirselves

Ricco is the guy to watch in that situation
