Today it was just about surviving and trying to limit my losses to the stronger prologue riders, I'm satisfied with my ride as I only lost 30 seconds to G and 20 seconds to Kwiatkowski, so I'm still in a good place for the rest of the race. Tomorrow will be hard day as there are lots of climbs that will break up the field but i'm looking forward to the challenge. Adam

ICL - Project Cumbria Powered by Thomas Graham Steel & Industrial Supplies
Today was a difficult stage as there were a lot of hard climbs, so we wanted to get a guy in the break as we have the strongest team at the race, but I think that Kwiatkowski is better suited to these types of climbs so I think he will win the GC, so we wanted to make sure we won something. We managed to put Kudus in the break, however nobody went with him, so he ended up going on his own, which meant that he took all the KoM points, but Majka was attacking from the peloton, so he's obviously interested in that competition. Come the finish I attacked a few times in the last few kilometres but the other guys were all over me, so i wasn't able to get away, and then when Porte attacked I had nothing to go with him from then on it was about limiting my losses which I think I did quite well as I only lost 1 minute to Porte and 40 seconds to Kwiat. It was announced this morning that Adam Yates would not start the 3rd stage of the race today, after coming down with a chest infection last night. Yates' Directeur Sportive Ivan Basso told us, "Yesterday Adam had a bit of a cold, which seemed to get worse throughout the night, and this morning he wasn't able to speak and he was coughing up rubbish. It's a real shame as Adam has had good form recently, but hopefully by him withdrawing from this race he will not have any long term side effect, as he is on superb form and we don't want him to lose any of that."
Yates' Agent released a statement on Adam's behalf saying, "Last night I felt a bit under the weather, but I wasn't expecting that it would mean I'd have to pull out of the race, as I thought I was still in with a chance of winning the race. Although in the long run the Giro is my aim so I need to make sure I am fit for that and that's why I have withdrawn.

Today was always going to be an interesting day as I knew that I would be heavily marked as some of the best riders in the world have chosen to avoid this race to prepare better for Tirreno and Milan San Remo. However I wanted to do this race as I think that the finish town of Siena is a beautiful place to be as it is very old fashioned and it looks a very classical city. I think the other riders to watch out for are Nico my teammate, but also Kiserlovski as he has just come back from the Tour of Langkawi, which he pretty much dominated, other wise I think that Damiano Caruso of Cannondale will be the nearest challenger as he has had good form all season especially after the Tour Down Under where he was 6th overall. The key for us today was to get a guy in the break as we knew that if we didn't the other teams would lave us to do all of the chasing, which we managed to do as we got Teo in the break, so we didn't have to chase. Then we watched the moves and then I followed the attack of the other favourites, I tried a dig before we hit the final climb, but it didn't work and sadly Felline was able to get over the top of me in the sprint, which is a shame as I was so close but so far. I think I am in a good place coming into the classics, so I'm looking forward to that and I think I can be competitive in all of them. Simon

Its strange to start a race with an uphill time trial to Mont Vesuve, I knew that I would have a fight on my hands as Froome is on good form at the moment, but I was confident i could get a good result as my form is good at the moment. I was one of the first of the favourites to set off, so I didn't have any time checks to pace myself off so I made sure to keep it steady to start off with and then increase the pace gradually until the final few kilometres when I went harder and tried to drive on. When I finished I knew I would of set the best time, but Ivan told me that I was 5 minutes ahead of the current best time, which really surprised me as I was a minute down at the first time check, but when I saw my stats from my ride I rode an almost perfect time trial as my power output was so consistent and my pace increased gradually. The next of the big names was Thibaut and I was attaching his ride on the bus and he rode a good race, but he finished 2 minutes down, so I knew I had done a good ride. After Thibaut there were a few more riders to come close to him but nobody beat him, the final rider to come home was Froome and he crossed the line in 4th place 2 minutes 17 seconds behind me. Adam

Ha ha I'll have to give this story a rest for a bit as my computer is roken so I have to get a new one before I can continue. Luckily I've managed to et the file for this race so I should be able to continue this race either that or I'll just delete the post and start again on the same course.
Thanks

Today was classed as a flat stage, but it was quite rolling as there was a cat. 2 climb half way through the stage, looking at the papers this morning Cav & Kittel were the favourites going into the stage, but we knew that Andre had an outside chance despite his poor form at this moment. Andre started the season well but has seemed to lost his form a bit recently so we were hoping he could do something today. We managed to put Geschke in the break this morning so we could just sit back, however with 70 kilometres to go Boom and Gilbert attacked so Simon went with them, and they caught Geschke with about 30 kilometres to go. Geschke started working for Simon and Simon got a rest before attacking with 25 kilometres to go, and he rode really well on his own as he was caught with just 3 kilometres to go despite just having a 30 second lead when he went. In the final few kilometres I tried to set up Andre for the finish, but he got boxed in with 500m to go and wasn't able to contest the finish. Andre was 8th, as Cav took the expected win ahead of Nizzolo and Coquard. Adam

Today was a hard stage as I knew that Froome would attack as he needs to gain 2 minutes back on me, but I knew I just needed to follow him. We managed to get Teo in the break along with Wiggins (MTN), the plan was to make it hard when we hit the final few climbs to get rid of as many riders as possible. However with 35 kilometers to go Ivan told us Teo had attacked the break and that he was 20 minutes ahead of us, which surprised me but I thought we would close it down as the final few kilometers were pretty hard. Then when we hit the final few climbs we upped the pace and managed to shrink the group to just over 100 riders, but the climb wasn't long enough to do any serious damage. I then attacked over the final climb and managed to hold off the bunch on the descent, so Teo got the stage which he deserves. However when I got to the podium they told me that Tep had taken the GC lead as we finished 20 minutes behind him, which surprised me as we had ridden hard since Ivan gave me the time check, so Teo must of been riding like a bull. I'm disappointed as I wanted to win the race. but tomorrow is a hard day with some big climbs, so it's not over yet. Adam

ICL - Project Cumbria Powered by Thomas Graham Steel & Industrial Supplies
Yesterday was an interesting stage, but it was a great result for the team, and it means I'm going to have to fight to get on the podium now, but I'm looking forward to it as my best race was last year when I had to fight to gain a lot of time, but I think that today is a day that will suit my skills as a rider and I hope I can win the stage even if I do miss out on the GC. We tried to put Simon in the break but he was chased down, so I decided to attack with 100 kilometres to go, to see if anyone would respond, but I got a gap and started to ride away on the descent, behind Mapei and NFTO were chasing, but I was happy as I could choose my own lines on the descent and I had 3 teammates behind. Then with 55 kilometres to go Ivan told me I had a two minute lead on Froome, Martin, Mollema, Thibaut and Pete, I was suprised how much my gap had gone out. Then as we hit the final climb my gap was 3 minutes, bu I knew they would close me down as we got closer to the finish, however I made sure I still had some left for the final few kilometres. Im dissappointed for Teo that he didnt keep hold of the jersey, but he still has the KoM jersey and I had to ride hard today to get the lead so I think I deserve the lead, and Teo has plenty of time yet. Today we knew would be a difficult stage as there were a lot of climbs, which would grind down the bunch, however we went into today thinking about Simon for the win as this is the kind of stage that would suit him a lot, however we knew we had to watch out for Martin and Mollema as they are some of the best riders over this type of terrain. We wanted to try to get a guy in the break to take of the pressure, but also so that we could try to defend the KoM jersey. We managed to get Teo and The Tank [Simon Geschke] in the break, so we were really happy as you can’t ask for a better rider to be up there than the Tank because he can just ride for hours at the same tempo and then win the sprint to the finish. Teo managed to pick up points at the first few KoM points, so he managed to extend his lead in that. Then the break were caught with 120 kilometres to go so Bardet attacked but the bunch chased him down, so we sent The Tank up the road again and he managed to get in a break that got a decent lead, so much so that we thought it wouldn’t come back so we sent Simon to try and get across with about 60 kilometres to go. However he was brought back, s I decided to go for it and only Dan and Carlos followed, but I managed to get rid of them, so I pushed on and started to close up to the break. Then Dan and Carlos bridged across followed by Froome, so I just sat on as Thibaut was in the bunch and they were threatening his second on GC, so I sat back and took it easy. Then on the final climb I tried to follow the attack of Betancur, but the break was still away, so I knew it wasn’t going to be the stage win, so I eased off and saved some gas as Betancur isn’t a threat to me on GC. ICL - Project Cumbria Powered by Thomas Graham Steel & Industrial Supplies
Today we knew would be an interesting day as tomorrow is the final time trial so we knew some of the riders may want to try to save some energy so they can try to get on the podium tomorrow, however I feel quite comfortable with my place on GC as I have a decent buffer over second place, although I hope Thibaut can hold his position as we came to this race with as strong a team as possible, so that we could dominate the race, and we have managed to do that so that is a good sign or later in the year. In the race we managed to get the tank into the break, to try to defend Teo's overall lead, so he managed to fend of Thurau who was a threat to the lead, however we didn't think that the break would stay away as Mollema had got in the break ad he was 6th overall. The tank managed to pick up a few points in the KoM and it meant he took over the lead in the KoM, so that was good for the team. but I was a bit disappointed for Teo as he has ridden hard all week, and now he has nothing to show of it all. In the final few kilometres the race started to get scrappy, and we found ourselves out of position so we had no chance as Kittel and the rest had already gone and left us for dead, so Andre was stuck in the bunch. Adam

Today is the final stage of the race, but I'm confident that the win is mine as I don't expect to lose 4 minutes today, although anything can happen, but the fact its a time trial suits me as it means I'm less likely to have a crash. I'm happy with my ride as the course suited me, so I made sure that I used the climb to gain time and then I saw I was clear so I took no risks on the descent and cruised to the finish, I'm happy for Simon as it is a great result for him, as he has been unlucky this week. Today was the first time I went into a monument as the absolute leader, so it was a strange feeling as the guys were all riding for me, so I told them I wanted to get someone in the break so we had Tony, Wiggo and Tim trying to get in the break. However they weren't able to so we sent Matteo across and the break went away, so we settled down and sat in to save energy as there was still a long way to go. Matteo was quite comfortable in the break, but we made sure that Andre had someone with him as we thought it may come to a bunch sprint as there was a lot of riders that we thought would wait for me to attack, so if we had Andre that would be a big bonus for us at it would mean that we would have a strong guy for the sprint, although from OPQS tactics we could see they didn't think that would happen as the put Cav in the break, but we were confident we made the right decision. Then just before we hit the three capi, Matteo attacked the break and started to get a gap on them, but they smashed it to catch him back up so he just sat up and sat on the back of the break. Then as we went up the Cipressa Jelle attacked and I countered it and found myself in a group with Martin, Valverde and Boasson Hagen, and we managed to bridge across to the break, where Matteo committed 100% which was great to see as everyone was gone, then on the Poggio I attacked and got a gap so I kept the pressure on, as Valverde and Boasson Hagen weren't far behind me. Then they caught me on the descent so I got on Boasson Hagen's wheel and waited or the sprint, however I didnt realise how much Boasson Hagen would have left, and I couldnt get back past him after he had gone for it.
