Wanted to watch Austria RR but damn, it rained so muchthe entire day, preferred to stay at home. Alas, Zoidl won ahead of Mühlberger, great kid that one.

Not a huge result, but still much better than what he had in like 2 years. So yeah, gives me some hope for Le Tour.

I got to say, the Norway NC were a fantastic race to watch the final of; much more than riding the first laps myself. Reminds me very much, of what I've heard, of the american NC RR earlier this season. A bunch of pros getting owned by smaller national teams. Rider after rider and group after group attacked from the peloton, and Kristoff, Nordhaug etc could not do anything about it. Whoever could win the race, and about 60 riders in total were in front of the bunch throughout the race.
Odd Eiking (Joker) and Fredrik Galta (Østerhus) attacked from a smaller breakaway on the final hill, and could not agree for the pacing. Then Vegard Breen (Lotto) dragged the two strong sprinters Filip Eidsheim (FixIt.no) and Galtas teammate Tormod Hausken (Østerhus). After several attacks by Breen in the final kilometres the group stopped completely, and in the final kilometre Reidar Borgersen (Joker) got to the group and immediately attacked. He ended up launching the sprint, where Hausken were superior. His victory is already praised by norwegian media as the most surprising champion through history.
For me it was a tough day. Heavy wind is never good for me, and it destroyed my chances already on the first lap. Got through 3 out of 8 laps, and ended up as 114th out of 174. Hope for better races with more hills in the autumn summer.

A whole day of watching cycling is always great fun. So glad I get to do it all again with the Tour de France next weekend!
Just uploaded the photos from the Women's race so far, where I was stood on the finish line. Was convinced Armitstead had the race won with a lap to go, but it came back together for Laura Trott to win. https://www.flickr.com/photos/sumofma...019552300/

Estonia :Jakin beat Jõeäär at final sprint and get a title at really terrible weather ..Kangert was pulling over. Taaramäe 8th with really pessimistic interview after stage about he's condition. Cofidis managers are idiots if they still butting him at TdF lineup.
Then they are at same level with Riis ..do not take Zaugg to tour what a idiot move. Because most of time Zaugg can get 110% out of himself when needed. |

PCS says it's ITT result, not RR. Also, it was held 3 days ago, so fairly sure it really is ITT.

Sorted my photos from the Men's NC now:
Signing on: https://www.flickr.com/photos/sumofma...020261417/
Racing: https://www.flickr.com/photos/sumofma...426895072/
The decisive group of 7 had already established itself by the start of the Abergavenny circuits, with Geraint Thomas trying to bridge across solo after an earlier mechanical. The groups further behind already had no chance.
Finally on Lap 7 of 10 the lead group split apart. Luke Rowe made the first move, and the counter move of Simon Yates really did the damage.
Only Adam Yates and best domestic rider Mark Christian were dropped here, so Sky now had Simon isolated. On the first hill of Lap 8, Kennaugh set the pace which dropped half of the Sky riders - Edmondson and Rowe going.
And by the end of the lap it was down to just Kennaugh and Swift. When Kennaugh couldnt drop Swift, a Swift victory seemed likely, but instead Kennaugh finally became National champion having been so close so many times.

Nice photos and a surprising win indeed!

Sarah Palin, 08-03-14 (CPAC, on Russian aggression) : "The only thing that stops a bad guy with a nuke is a good guy with a nuke"
Big thanks to jdog for making this AMAZING userbar!

What is with Rein again Guido? Again those typical allergy/breathing problems or something else? This guy has to be the most unlucky and badly guided cyclist talent ever...

all preparation was faulty..first health problems..then maybe solution..nice tour Turkey when he was same level at Yates. After crash at Dauphine and mad hot weather there guys is just empty. I quess because he has not able to train and race has he should be.
At tour he might see if he getting a bit better one mountain when he is with leaders. After that he will loose again 30 min every day.
Maybe new season will give him another boost (I personally really doubt about that).
Biggest mistake that he made was staying Cofidis after 2011 great season. Some other strong team would have trained him better ..looking better after he's health.
He would need Riis type a manager to push him to the limit. But now it is already maybe a bit late. He's morale is lower then zero.
As a rider he should be at least Kangert type a rider..even a bit better. |
